Splurging the night before surgery
MyNewLife replied to magkai1's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi, I asked Dr. Miranda if I could go eat Mexican food the night before. She said it was ok as long as I ate early. We ate Dinner at 5 that afternoon. We went to a wonderful mexican food resturant. I had fajitas rice and beans. She did tell me to be careful of the Tortillas because they use lard......My brother in law and sister had a wonderful time with happy hour...lol. I did not drink, was too scard of that one. I was done eating by 5:45 and had nothing else the rest of the night. I was the first one banded that morning. My advice is after you have your test, when you speak with Dr. Miranda ask her and see what she tells you. Best of Luck! Carrie -

Every month I send out an "update" to my friend and family. My step dad calls it my monthly rant....I sent this out this morning and my mother says I should post this for encourgement and just a good laugh for everone...so here goes my "Month Birthday Rant"...this would also count as my September 18 food log...lol Well its been 10 months and after a couple of days of "food hell"..lol ...I thought I would let everyone know how my birthday went........ It all started out with MOM bringing me my birthday gift, which was just what I asked for, Fried Apple Pies ohhh, and lets not forget the homemaid choc cookies "for tha boys" that she put in the sack. Ok.Seriously....I am really suppose to take these to the boys and not have one cookie, ok maybe two cookies, ok I will stop lying Three cookies.... YES, So I ate one fried pie and three cookies! The sad thing is this is the day BEFORE my birthday, still got a whole entire day left to go......GO ME! ..yeah right. Ok so I still have one pie left, so I put it inthe fridge at work to "chill" it. I arrive the next morning to work which is my b-day and got to thinking...whats for breakfast, I know my pie, so yes I eat the other pie for breakfast. ok, now I have made up my mind that I am going to eat one pack of oatmeal for lunch and that is it. My phone rings at 10 and my neighbor Pam wants to go to lunch for my birthday! and of course I say SURE where would you like to go, she says lets go to Del Rio...ok..this is great , not ONLY do they have chips and dip but free ice cream. Well its 12 I get my purse, clock out and go to Del Rio to meet my neighbor on with my BLINDERS on. The blinders are so I will not even see the FREE ICE CREAM that they have. We hade a great lunch, with all the chips and dips and we started out the door and the damn blinders FELL OFF!!!! There was the Ice Cream machine, I sware it just handed me the Ice Cream Cone with Choc Ice Cream in it, that is the only way it could have gotten in my hands...lol......Anyway after running into like four people while I was leaving, who ALL reminded me I did not need to be eating that Ice Cream, I go back to work. Well after about 30 mins of being back to work, I was called to the front. My sister and the lovely Brit stopped by to wish me a happy birthday and brought me a Butter Finger Blizzard from DQ, that somehow disappeard within like 20 mins.....Dont have a clue how that cup got so empty so quick!....Now I am thinking, ok Do I still have a band, is she in there?????lol Anyway my day ended with a Pedi with hubby and NOTHING for dinner!... However after all of that I am now down 70 lbs!!!!! I use to say that I would like too loose about a 100 pounds, now I can say I only have 37 pounds to go to reach my goal.... Thankseveryone for a GREAT Birthday! Carrie

Dawn! That is an AWESOME victory. It is so very exciting when you try something on and your mind is telling you NO way and hmmm...YEAH WAY!!! When I hit size 14 I took a picture of the tag and sent the pic out to my friends and family through text....most of them sent back and said...what does this mean...lol As far as the bigger clothes ..I am the same way, still catch myself sometimes going to the plus size section. My friend that had the band that is now a size 4, says she still has the "big girl" mind as she calls it.... Keep up the GREAT work and again Congrats! Carrie

I wanted to post something that is a HUGE victory for me. I have not weighed in two weeks(which is good for me) and have really struggled with the No NO foods, so I made a list of some things to stay away from and not to weigh for two weeks. Well yesterday morning I did weigh and I was down 3 lbs, not as much as I was hoping for and was kinda down on myself about it. I got to thinking, wow only three pounds, but I know I need to step it up..... I have came from 262 to 192, that is 70lbs! I got to thinking about all the things that I have accomplished, some as little as being able to wrap a towel around my self (the nornal size towels)....... My scale victory is not only have I lost 70 lbs in 10 months but for the FIRST time in my adult life, I weigh LESS than the person I was seeing/Married too. I have had so many greats and first with this band but this one will hit me the hardest, I have always HATED being bigger than my husband! My husband has went from calling my baby to skinny...lol I still have a long way to my goal but That is an AMAZING feeling! Carrie

Thanks everyone and I had a WONDERFUL day! Im sorry I am just now getting this but I did not log on yesterday at all. I have the most AMAZING Husband. He first woke me up at 4:30 am before he left for work and gave me a card and a new watch that I have been wanting. Sent me Roses to work from him and the boys and then when I got of work, he took me for a Pedi...The BEST part is that he got one WITH me!!!! I have been trying for YEARS to get him to do this with me! He would strangle me if he knew I posted this...LOL Carrie

Hi Cindy, I dont drink with my meals. That is one thing that Dr. Miranda stressed to me was a big NO NO for us. I will wait at least 45 mins to drink. Honestly is has not been as bad as I first thought it was going to be. We all have to overcome things and do things differently than other people when it comes to band life and sometimes it is hard. Im sure with this off of your chest you do feel better and maybe can get the motivation to change this habit. Its not too late to make this a goal and make it a change. You said yourself that this is one thing that is slowing your weight loss, so make that a goal. My big thing is Ice Cream and I am trying really hard to stay away from it and I too know as well that is is not good for my weight loss. You can only acknowledge it and try your best to do better and you have done that, acknowledge it and owned it. Sometimes that is the hardest part!!!!!! Good luck to you! Carrie
