Shelby, SO true..lol I have had so much fun with this just trying to think of some more, my stepson keeps walking in looking at me like I am crazy...lol When you look at the wine bottle to try to figure out how many calories you are drinking..... When you hubby brings you a glass of water with dinner and rolls his eyes and says never mind I forgot...lol When hubby looks at you and say "Are you stuck" just cause you have "that" look...and then says you need to start chewing better baby! lol When you have a LOVE HATE Relationship with your SCALES!
  4. Sorry I had to add one..... When you almost go postal on the waiter because you have told him 10 times that you dont want anything to drink with your kids meal! LOL that happens all the times, Now I just order water and put it aside! Carrie
  5. I thought this would be something really fun to do. I read this on another site and have laughed so much at it... I will give some examples................ You look at the serving size of Triscuts and think "7 crackers - I'll never eat all those, so you take 3 and are full" You can make more then one meal out of a can of Tuna. A thimble of vodka gives you a buzz- a cap full gets you wasted. The guys at my works will ask what everyone wants to eat for Lunch and when they get to me they will say "Just order her a BEAN!" LISA yours is still one of my favorites!!!!- Get pulled over and Cop tells you to get a new drivers license!! Carrie

  7. Thanks for posting this post. I too have wondered the same thing. I emailed Dr. Miranda and she sent me a sample menu. I am very confused because on this menu she states to eat 3 oz of meat, 1/2 cup veggies and fruit. This to me is more than a cup of food. When someone says you are to eat a cup of food, does this include your meat, veggies, fruit...etc. Are you saying a cup of food total? For breakfast I drink a shake, I have tried to eat breakfast, protien bar or piece of cheese and a couple of wheat crackers, and I get stuck 90% of the time if I eat breafast. Eggs are a NO NO for me no matter what time of day. I have also found out that Carrotts dont like me. For lunch I eat about 3 oz of chicken salad with 4-5 crackers, Yesterday I ate 3 oz of Salmon and about 1/2 cup of green beans, Dinner I ate 2 pieces of Bacon and of course tried some eggs, did not work very well. I guess I need to start weighing out my food instead of eating to that "full" feeling. If I do, depending on what I am eating I can eat im sure more than I am suppose to eat. I too can only eat 1/2 hamburger pattie at a time, nothing else with it, but if I eat say soup and salad I can eat alot of salad before getting that "full" feeling. I just dont see how if you are only suppose to eat a cup of food at a time, how in the world can you get in your calories....... The thing that I am doing is I am eating heathly, staying away from junk food, slider foods and eating until I get that "full" feeling and stopping then. I just think that sometimes, again depending on what I am eating, that I am eating WAY over a total of a cup of food. Good Luck! Carrie
  8. Angie, I agree you have gotten some really great advise. I too choose your pre-op diet and I can honestly say I did not think I would EVER be able to stick with it. I too decided to start a little early. I was on the pre-op diet for 17 days and lost 16 pounds. I lost 10 lbs the first week and 4 pounds the second week and another 2 the last three days. After seeing that I lost 10 lbs the first week, it was down hill from there. I was SO scared to cheat. I was afraid that I would get to Mexico and they would not do my surgery. I think that was the biggest fear and what kept me on track! Someone told me if I could get through the first three days of the diet and not cheat I would be ok. It worked. The first three days was AWEFULL!! I was hungry and was not nice to be around...lol I have a couple of suggestions for you to try. First try sticking to ONLY your shakes, your greens and your meal at night for three days in a row with no cheating. It will be HARD but I promise its not so bad after that. Second, I found a protien shake (I HATED PROTIEN SHAKES) that I really like and it was VERY HIGH in protien which kept me from being hungry. It is Max Protien Chocolate from GNC. The last thing I would suggest is take 1 or 2 fiber pills at 9 in the morning and again at 3 in the afternoon and one chromium pill a day. The fiber pills helps SO much with the hunger pains, TRULEY, and the chromium seemed to give me just a little boost of engery throughtout the day, did not feel so BLAH. Good Luck and hang in there.   9. Sabrina, Just say No...lol.....You crack me up, I too love reading your post. It is so hard to keep away from the "slider" food. I cant understand how cookies, chips, the no no foods can go down so easy! Hey I have an idea, Maybe you need to send them to Angela and she can take them to that girl who hogs the machine at her gym..lol... You are doing great, keep up the good work! Carrie

  11. Dana, I know how frustrating it can be not to loose weight. I know you have been working really hard. I dont think anyone is replying to your post and trying to come down on you. They are only give you their opinion. Everyone is different and everyone has their thoughts of what will or will not work. I have been told time after time to eat 1200 calories a day, well I cant loose weight eating that many calories a day. I have to eat around 800-900 a day in order to loose. That is good for me, it is too hard for me to eat the 1200 calories. This is ONLY my opinion but I dont think drinking your meals is good for you. I do drink a shake in the mornings, yes I am tight as well. I do eat a little lunch (even if it is a couple of bits I eat and take very little bits and chew really well) Dinner I seam to be able to eat a little more. I did post a post about justw living and not obessing about your how much you loose fron day to day or week to week. This might not be for everyone but it has been the best advice I have received from a bandster of 2 years. She told me this about five weeks ago, I weighed around 223. I did go for my third fill three weeks ago this past friday and I weighed 221 by my scales and as of this morning I weigh 213. My fill doctor told me that shakes can be very fatting and to stay away from muscle milk, again everyone has different opionions, this is only something you might want to try. This is a life journey, one that you should be able to kick back and enjoy, hell almost take advantage of, not one that I myself want to be obessed with and I was becoming that person until I just stopped. I even went to Mickey D's the other day and was able to eat 2 and 1/2 chicken nuggests. I felt bad about it until I read the lable on them, they are really not that bad and for me only eating 2 and 1/2 ohhhhhh well. Dana I think we all are just wanting you to be ok and not get frustrated about this journey and OHMY GOSH I know it is hard. We are all here for ya, and if you need to vent, then vent, WE WILL ALWAYS BE HERE TO LISTEN, lord knows I have posted for vents!   17. Hey everyone... I wanted to give everyone an update. It has been a week yesterday since I had my third fill. When I left home I weighed myself, which I had not done in two weeks and I was at 221. At the doc I weighed 220, had to use that one for my ticker... . Anyway I weighed this morning just to keep myself in check due to this new attitude I got and to make sure I am ok. I weight 217!!!! I am so happy that is is moving and I can honestly say this has been one of the nicest weeks I have had. I have not counted calories, not weighed, have not even thought about the scales, justed lived~! Thanks for everyones support YALL are great! Carrrie

  19. VanGirl, I understand completely! I finally had to stop, stop everything. I was stressing myself out and everyone around me. I was doing everything right. The calories, the protein, the green tea, chromium, the water, the fiber, the exercise, etc... and still NOTHING for almost a month. I stopped thinking about everything, I stopped weighing. Like Lisa stated, when I was hungry I ate, when I was not I did not eat. If I was thristy I drank. I did continue to eat health and exercise but WOW what a difference this makes. I got my 3rd fill last friday and I had lost 9 lbs of fat and gained 3 pounds of mucsle. I have already lost another 4 pounds this week! Stress is SO bad. Try it for two weeks, dont weigh, eat healthy and only when your hungry, dont worry about the 1200 calories (I cant hit it) and see how this work, why not you have tried everthing else! Think of the frustation like a little red devil sitting on your shoulder laughing at you every time you get frustrated! Good luck and stay POSTIVE! Carrie
  20. Hi! I had my third fill last Friday, I too was at 2.5cc and now have 3.0cc. I stayed on liquids for 24 hours and then started with softer foods. I will say yesterday and today has not been a good day, seems like everthing I have put in my mouth is getting stuck. I know the band has tightened since my fill. I can not eat in the morning, so I am doing a protein shake. Today I have have gotten down a shake and a protein bar ( I nibbled on the bar) Tried some fish for lunch and it got stuck. I think Im gonna have a shake tonight. Good Luck! Carrie
  21. Hey Sabrina, I just had my thrid fill on Friday and I now have 3.0cc, I was at 2.5cc. At first I did not think it made a difference but as the week goes on, it is getting alot tighter. I am now back to protein shakes for breakfast, just to hard to eat in the am and I am not hungry in between meals. I still think it is too early for me to tell, but I am crossing my fingers that this one did it for a while. Good luck with your third fill! Carrie

  23. Angie, Congrats on MAKING YOUR OWN DECISION to get Lapband! This is not an easy decision or life style change to make and you somewhere were ready to make this decision, you are banded. You have to be strong, EVERYONE struggles and I would have a hard time believing if someone if they said they have never struggled, uhmmmm that is why we are overweight and have had surgery to help us. NO ONE on this board is perferct and yes you need to hear that you could hurt yourself by eating at this time, you do need to heal. HOWEVER, you can correct what you are doing by making better choices. This is your choice not your families, I honesly beleive there is a purpose in everthing you do in your life, and who knows maybe this is your time to help them. Maybe you could show them just by doing what you are suppose to do that you can eat good foods and live a better life. As far as the food, when you are able to eat them after 21 days of liquids, you are going to be hungry and you are going to be able to eat pretty much what ever you want until your fills. Make you a daily menu and try your best to stick by this. Weigh and measure your foods. Anytime you need encouragement or just need to vent, this is the place to do it. Go take a look at the Photo Gallery, it helps me so much. Just think, in no time at all, we will see new pics of Angie! Please never second guess your decision to be banded because of someones words. It is amazing how words can affect someones outlook on the things they are already struggling with. Good Luck and Keep your head high! Carrie
