Hi Erica, I was banded 11/14 and I am going on week 3 of NO weight loss. I have not gained but have not lost and it is pretty depressing! I was so excited while on Liquids, I was loosing and not hungry AT ALL, honestly had trouble getting all of my liquids. When I started food" after day 21 I thought I was never going to have to have a fill. Well let me tell you that changed overnight. I swear one day I was eating like a bird and the next day I can honestly say for the first time since being banded I was HUNGRY! I have a fill scheduled this coming Friday and I have found out that I can eat just about anything with no problems. I have to really be carfull of the NO NO foods, like sweets, chips, dips, because they go down VERY easy. Hang in there and welcome to Bandster Hell!!!! They say is gets better, I sure hope so!

I feel like a lump in my throat.. NEED HELP!!!
MyNewLife replied to carla's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Carla, I have this as well. It sounds weird but I get it if it is time for me to eat or if I am thirsty. I have found if I drink something it goes away. Hope this helps. Good Luck! -
Hi Everyone~! Well I am sure when I ask this question everyone will know that I did not do away with the scales..lol. I have read and several people say that they HAVE to have 1200 calories a day and their protien everday in order for the weight to come off. Do I need to be trying to get 1200 calories a day? I know what I am eating and I am NO where close. Do I need to do something different or just have patients or both? ugghhh on patients ! lol

DO I JUST NEED TO STAY OFF THE SCALES?
MyNewLife replied to MyNewLife's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Thanks for everyones suggestions. It just seems really strange that you eat so little and you gain weight. I was really concerned that maybe I was not getting enough calories? As far as the protien shakes, I really like the protien shakes for breakfast and I finally found one that I love!!! I have never been a breakfast "food" eater. Do you think it would be ok to drink the shake in place of food for breakfast? I think I will also add red meat to my diet plan, thanks Jude!. Also the scales are going to be really hard to stay away from but I am going to try hard, maybe once a week. -
Got my first compliment!!
MyNewLife replied to Amanda2008's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Amanda that is Wonderful!!! That is great. Your first compliment was WAY better than mine. I was getting my hair done and my hairstylist told me that I looked so little with my cape on..lol. I was like ohh thanks alot my face is the only thing that is shrinking. I told her just to start calling me beelte juice, you know the little head and the big body!!!! Anyway...Congrats! -
DO I JUST NEED TO STAY OFF THE SCALES?
MyNewLife posted a topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi everyone! Im sure that this is not the first time this has been posted. I have followed my pre-op and post op diet to a fine point! I can honestly say I have not cheated one time and have done everything as instructed. Friday will be one month and this week is the 1st real week of "food". I have gained a pound in the last 4 days . I am just making sure I am doing what I am suppose to do. This is a normal day for me. B- 6oz high protein shake made w/skim milk and a little V8 between breakfast and lunch. L - I have had of the following between 3-3.5 0z chicken salad, tuna salad, chicken breast. It is hard to eat the full 3.5 oz. Snack -I have been eating 21 (i counted them out per serving) of cashews for a snack and 6oz high protein skake -made with skim milk between lunch and Dinner. D-I have had one of the following 3oz of grilled chicken breast, a 3 oz salmon pattie, 4 chicken wings, or 3oz Tilapia with 1/2 cup pinto beans Most of the time I dont not eat my veggies because I am full. Throughout the day and Before I go to bed I drink water or G2. Please tell me if I should add or cut out something or just stay off the dang scales!!!! Thanks! -
Day 10 post-op - restriction?
MyNewLife replied to vangirl's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Vangirl, This post sounds just like what I went through. I am on day 22 and still have major restriction. I could not get my liquids down at all. The 21 days post op, the most I ever got down in liquids was maybe 24 oz and that is with with 2 protien shakes. I just tried my best to keep liquid with me at all time and sip. It was very hard and I was very concerned that I was not getting enough liquids, but I have always felt full. Yesterday was day 21 for me and even food WOW, very restricted and still have problems with my liquids. I just keep trying. Keep up the good work! As far as the weight, the first week I lost the weight I came home with, the second week I think I only lost 2 and the 3 I lost 4 pounds in 4 days....I think everyone is different on that one. Good Luck! -

What's for dinner tonight?
MyNewLife replied to Musiclover's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Thanks Everyone, I will have to say as Shelby stated, I was shocked at how much I ate. Breakfast I stopped by I HOP and got two scrambled eggs and one piece of Bacon. I ate maybe 5 small bits of my eggs and a piece off of my bacon. I WAS FULL! OMGosh I loved it!!! I was so scared that I would be able to eat all I wanted since I dont have fill. (Hope this does not change) Lunch I had the hamburger pattie off of a Kids Meal burger from BK. Dinner my sis had a party so I had 2 pins wheels (tortilla with deviled ham wrap that are cut into small circles) and 2 crackers with cheese on them and guess what I was FULL! Loving it more...lol.. Anyway, thanks for EVERYONES support and GREAT advice. This is one of my fav threads. I love reading what everyone is doing. It helps me to know what to expect and helps me to know what to do! I look forward to reading more from everyone! -

Day 4 post-op and no hunger - minimum liquid intake?
MyNewLife replied to vangirl's topic in Diet and Nutrition
Sabrina, I am 16 days post op today. I know everyone is different but I was banded on a Friday and returned to work on a Thursday. I am like you, I sit all day at a desk and type. It is not a good thing. I hurt so bad when I got home. Sitting straight up like to have killed me, then when I did stand up, I felt like I was going to tear in half. The next day was not much better. Monday when I had to return to work, I was much better. I would HIGHLY suggest liquid Tylnol before you even leave for work. Good Luck and hope this helps! -
Taz... That was a GREAT post. I am having problems getting my liquids down. I just fill SO full and tight, no hugry feeling what so ever. I am drinking 1/2 cup of liquid yogurt twice a day. I think I may try to increase that a little. Today seemed a little easier to get liquids down. I am only getting about 16-24 oz of liquid down a day. I am on day 10 and I start cream soups tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hey Sarah, I was banded 10 days ago at the OCC. I can't believe it has already been over a week. When i arrived at the San Diego Airport, Fransico the driver was waiting on me and my guest with a sign with my name on it. I walked up to him and he introduced himself and told us where our lugguage was at. He carried the luggage to the van and then he drove us to Tj Mexico which is about 25 min or so from the airport. We were taken straight to the OCC where I met with Dr. Miranda. She is WONDERFUL. The reciptionist had pizza deilivered for my sis and brother in law from Dominoes. When I was done Francisco took us to the hotel which is only a couple of blocks. The hotel is AWESOME and the staff is GREAT. The next moring Fransico picked us up at the hotel. The band patients went first then Fransico returned to the hotel to pick up our guest. I was the first one banded that morning. The ENTIRE staff at the OCC is great. My guest was able to stay until around 4:00 I think and then Franscio took them back to the Hotel. The can not stay at the clinic. I did not do good and got sick with the anthesisa but my night doctor was GREAT. Saturday morning they took me and did an xray to make sure my band was ok and it was. I then had Zoom Whiting on my teeth at the OCC, which was Great. My teeth are MUCH whiter. Fransisco then took me back to Hotel where we stayed Saturday night. Sunday morning our driver arrived and took us back to the airport where we flew home. My expierence was Great and I can not speak Highly enough about the entire OCC Staff or the Hotel/Staff . I am so glad that I chose the right Doctor. Good luck and please keep us informed. If you have any further questions, I will be more than happy to answer the best I can. As far as the post op, I am still learning.

Hey Guys! I have a couple of questions. First of all I am on day 8 and today I can start Liquid yogurt. I have had a hard time drinking my liquids, I just seem sooo full. I am not hungry at all. I think I still have alot of gas and swelling, not sure. Anyway my question on this is, do I have 1/2 cup per day or per setting of the Liquid Yogurt? Also when I start adding 30 grams of protein, what is the best way to do this. I know myself and I am not going to be able to drink 30 grams of protien a day, I HATE the protien shakes.. .lol, Is there anything else that I can do beside drinking protein. Also when should I start adding my fiber and how much should I add per day? Thanks for everyones help! Carrie

MyNewLife replied to Trav's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Testimonials
Hey Trav I have been reading some of your post and they are great. I was just wondering what you ate when you where able to chew..lol? I am on day 6 post op and doing great. I have no food cravings and I am not hungry. Im sure that is going to change. Just wanted to check in and see how it is going with you. Carrie -
HI I agree with Cara and she is the reason that I did get the Zoom. I was banded last Friday and had Zoom done Saturday morning. The dentist is GREAT and really nice. She did three 15 min sessions. Afterwards I had NO pain what so ever. I honestly had no pain or soreness. There was a lady that had it the Friday that I was banded and she was in serious pain. I guess it depends on the individual. I love my teeth. They are so pretty and WHITE. I would do it again in a min. Good Luck!~ Carrie
