  5. My scale has been bouncing up and down the same two pounds for two weeks. I think it's time for another fill so I can get out of the 170's once and for all!
  6. Had mine out a few years ago. My gallbladder attacks were worse than my labour pains so I was thrilled to say good-bye to it. YOu'll be fine. It's a pretty simple surgery....so worth not gettng those attacks anymore. I'm glad it was not your band too! Sabrina:)
  7. I know you posted this for her but I needed to hear it too so thanks and AMEN sista! Sabrina:)
  8. I'm actually seeing a sex therapist right now because I have a very low sex drive. The therapist believes (and I knew this going in) that it is simply a symptom of other underlying problems in the realtionship. I doubt it is as simple as you were cute and skinny before, and now that you are bigger he's not in to you. If it IS that simple, then he is very shallow and not worth your efforts. For the sake of your son, I say give couples counselling a shot to see what is really going on. It's quite common for women to not want as much sex (especially those of us with young children) but if the guy isn't in to it, I'd be worried. My therapist says, "a woman needs a REASON to have sex and a man just needs a PLACE" lol! I know it's easier said than done, but don't blame yourself. You are so much more than what is on the outside. Recognize your true worth and others will too. Sorry to hear you are going through this. Sabrina:)
  9. The skin on apples is what won't go down for me when I have decent restriction. Try it without peel. Good job on the 21 days of liquids! Sabrina:)
  10. What a week! Started strong, ended struggling. I could use a fill for sure...I seem to need one about ebery ten pounds I lose. Anyway, I was actually down to 173 just before Halloween, but I'm back up to 174 after stealing all the kids coffe crisps. Still, I'm a pound less than I was a week ago...still going in the right direction. Sabrina:)
  11. BAD BAD BAD BAD Day. Well, it STARTED good but I digress. So I woke up yesterday weighing less than I can ever remember weighing.......173!!! I lost two pounds overnight! I've been eating quite a bit lately (for a bandster anyway) and can't exercise for six weeks cause of my bladder surgery and I continue to lose so I don't know if I thought I'd reward myself or I figured, I can afford to splurge, or if it's just because TOM will be here any minute but I was eating all freakin day...and now I feel remorse:( Plus, I gained a pound over night! B- 2 boiled eggs L- squash soup S- (was a parent volunteer for kids halloween party)...rice crispie square, pack of m&m's, jello, cut up fruit, veggies and dip, 2 mini coffee crisps. Ahhhhhh!!!! D- Two open-face egg salad sandwiches (Normally I can't eat bread EVER)
  12. What's tomato pie? Sounds good. Sabrina:)
  13. Shelby, since my unfill in the summer, I only have 2 cc's in my band too and I've actually continued to lose with very little restriction. 16 pounds since Sept 5th! You'll do fine. You might find you'll do even better cause you can eat consistently. Sabrina:)
  14. Well, thanks for your service to our country! That's great. I know the RCMP will pay for members to get the surgery too. Let us know what you decide. Sabrina:)
  15. A bunch of us post our daily food logs under the "post-op diet and food" section on here. You can browse itto see what other bandsters are eating in a typical day! And if you find the answer about losing that mid-section fat, please share! Sabrina:)
  16. Halloween candy tip of the day.........buy the stuff you don't like- I bought Tootsie Rolls cause I hate them! B- coffee with ff french valilla creamer then yogurt -90 cals/ 5 grams protein S- 2 baby bell cheeses- 120 cals/8 grams protein L- whole can of low-fat clam chowder (didn't need the whole can but it was damn good) 220 cals/10 grams protein D- half piece baked salmon, two tiny roast potaoes, few tablespoons of cooked brocolli and peppers...then 1/4 cup home-made blackberry crumble and ice cream (for the SECOND NIGHT IN A ROW) 400 cals /18 grams protein 830 cals and 41 grams protein..........I felt like I ate A LOT during the day but the cals didn't add up to much. Strange. ps- I lost two pounds overnight!!!! pps- Shelby, we're all thinking of you. Make sure you're drinking lots and getting enough sleep or you'll be no good to anyone. Sabrina:)
  17. Wow! You are the first person in BC (and I know hundreds) that I have ever heard has been able to get the lap-band surgery paid for by any health-care plan. That is outstanding!!! Who is your provider? You are SO lucky! As for starches, I can't eat many carbs (no bread or pasta) but crackers work and sometimes mashed potatos. Sabrina:)
  18. If you don't get a bit of an unfill, you might get so swollen that you need a COMPLETE unfill which is what I had to get for three weeks. I gained nine pounds in three weeks. You don't want to go there, so get an unfill right away!!! Besides, having been there, I can tell you that you might lose weight at first by not eating, but then your body will start storing fat cause it's starving and you'll probably end up gaining weight- even though you're not eating. You will not lose weight this way. Losing weight takes proper nutrition and PATIENCE. Now go get that unfill. You have me worried sick over here. Sabrina:)
  19. Good one!!! I wonder how many actually get to goal, even if it takes years? I know most of the old-timers at my local support group still struggle with the last 20 or 30 pounds, only a handful are at goal and some under goal. Still, these are people who have gone from "MORBIDLY OBESE" (morbid meaning you will likely die from weight-related health issues) to just simply "overweight". We should all be very proud of ourselves. Sabrina:)
  20. I go to a lap-band support group in Vancouver (off and on over a year) and I don't know anybody that's had the surgery by either Victoria surgeons. I know Dr. Amson does lots of gastric bypass, but wasn't aware he does banding too. I'm curious what the cost and the wait time is. When I looked in to getting banded in Canada it was much more pricey than at OCC (which is where most of us here on the OCC forum had the procedure) plus the local docs had long waits. Wherever you have it, you'll have to take charge of after-care and seek out fill docs, support etc. I'd be happy to share what I know. Sabrina:)
  21. I'm forcing myself to eat more than usual cause doc says I need food for proper healing (had surgery Monday) hopefully I'll still lose upping the cals. B- coffee then two bolied eggs L-small piece of baked cod, cauliflower and quarter baked potato with butter D-One grilled New Zealand Spring Lamb scewer (can rarely eat meat so I went for it!) half cup steamed veggies, and home made blackberry crumble with small amount of ice-cream for dessert!!!! 4 big glasses water
  22. Good job everyone....I'm down one pound but I'll take it! Sabrina:)
  23. I think the bottom line is that you have to eat VERY little to lose weight with a band. That means, when you start to feel the signs of getting full (runny nose, hiccups etc) you need to stop (even if you've only had a few bites) or you will pb and that is not good. It is very hard for me to wrap my head around not finishing what is on my plate, and I'm not even convinced that eating so little is completely healthy so I will often keep trying to force more down (not because I'm hungry but because it is there) and when I do "over eat" (meaning more than a cup of food..hardly over eating as we used to know it) I don't lose weight. When I truly listen to my body and only eat when I'm hungry, I lose. I try to keep my calories around 1000 per day. I don't do carbs and really watch my sugar intake. I don't always follow the rules, but I do most of the time, so I do lose weight "most of the time". I have years of bad habits I am trying to break and it is REALLY REALLY REALLY hard to adapt to this new lifestyle. The only other advice I have is trying a support group if there is one around. You'll gain invaluable info and ideas to help you on your journey. Sabrina:) ps- I've had lots of fills and unfills too trying to figure out what works for me
  24. Oh yeah, I'm having the TVT surgery. Has anybody had this and was it successful? Yet another reason to lose weight ladies.....being obese may lead to stress incontinence! I sure hope this will fix my leaky faucet! Sabrina:)
  25. For those who have had other surgeries since being banded, is there anything my medical team should know? I'm going to ask for liquid pain killers in case I can't swallow pills. Anything else? Do you typically tighten up after being put under? It's supposed to be pretty painful, plus I hate being put out for any reason, so I am a nervous wreck....much more anxious than I was getting banded. Boo-hoo. Sabrina:)
