Kristy, I am sorry you feel that way - I haven't been on solids long and everything was great the first few days, then I got a horrible head cold and all of a sudden, its like my band opened wide and I can eat anything and nothing even hurts my chest anymore (if i eat too fast, too big of a bite, etc). Its been like this for 2 days and Im wondering if its because of the cold or my TOM is supposed to start tonight.... but i wasnt expecting this.... i have weeks to go before my first fill and I already knew i didnt have tons of willpower, thats why i got the band!! But I hope you start getting more restriction soon. Please keep us updated....

Congrats and welcome to bandland Dr. Ortiz did my surgery but I saw him for about 5 mins total. He kept getting up and leaving during our conversation. He didnt come see me at all after surgery. Dr. So spent the most time with me and when I had post op issues once i got home, it was Dr. Martinez who called me to check on me and called my mother to reassure her i would be fine. I was not impressed with how Dr. Ortiz handled me but I felt great with everyone else.

how did you figure out your goal weight?
Christy26 replied to melly's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Im 5'9 and happen to carry my weight pretty well, but I chose 165 as my goal weight because of my height and thats a normal weight according to my bmi and also I remember being 165 and I liked my size at that weight. The OCC gave me a goal weight of 169. -
Question on the metamucil capsules
Christy26 replied to ckiki's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
im curious about these too. I bought a bottle pre-op but my paperwork says to take one pill. The serving size on the bottle says 6 pills. So i never took any, I never even opened the bottle. How many are you all taking? -
Jennifer, Chewing gum doesnt give me gas at all Ckiki, Im the exact opposite. Since starting on those drinkable yogurts, im going everyday twice usually and that was NEVER the case before surgery. I dont even like the drinkable yogurts but I keep drinking them for this reason only lol

Hey Ckiki! I am loving mine too so far! I went to dinner with my friend last night and I ordered a chicken sandwich and fries and I cut my sandwich in half and I ate about 3/4 of one half and 2 single fries and I was done - there was no way I could eat more. I was like WOW! The one thing i have noticed is no matter when i eat or what i eat, I burp alot aftewards - and if I cant burp for a while - my shoulder kills me. Tonight driving home, i hadnt eaten anything in hours and all of a sudden my shoulder started hurting out of the blue, I hit a bump in the road and that made me burp finally (gross i know) lol and BAM my shoulder stops hurting. Its so weird! With the water thing - when I get done eating I check the clock and then I find something to do immediately - and before I know it, I check the clock again and the hour is almost up - i hate the food taste still being in my mouth, i am always desperate to rinse my mouth after eating so its hard for me too. Good luck! I havent weighed myself in a week, I am trying to "suprise" myself when i finally weigh - I hope I have lost more.

Fill Centers USA (Roswell GA)
Christy26 replied to Christy26's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Blazn, Thanks! you have done a great job - I hope I am that lucky! Do I get to ask for any specific Dr? If so, I will ask for Darlene since she did such a good job with your fills... -
I had small frostys from Wendys and was just fine.
-
I am probably going to have to switch to Fill Centers USA, in Roswell GA for my first fill.... question though - has anyone used them in GA? How aggressive are they with their fills? THANKS
-
weird question - but - does it hurt getting a fill? Ive seen the pics of people with a big needle in their stomach.... looks kinda painful! Does it hurt internally as they fill you? thanks

Has anyone been able to eat Subway?
Christy26 replied to ckiki's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
ohhh ive been wondering about that. I love subway - i only eat their veggie sandwich but its sooo yummy. I hope its still ok for us until our fills or even after if we get the bread toasted! -
Michelle, Thanks for the info - I know I've followed your posts for a while - and I have the same body shape as you had before you lost the weight - so i was interested in what you had to say about it - but i saw your pics you posted a week or so ago and you looked great in them from what i could see - but like you said its a personal opinion. I havent had children yet so I wouldnt want to have any Tummy Tucks or any surgery really until I was finished with that - becuase pregancy changes your body so much - so hopefully it will all turn out ok. I guess i better up my water intake lol
-
I felt like crap right after surgery but traveling home to the east coast was horrible for me - i started at 7am pacific time and got home at 11pm eastern time - i was in a lot of pain from sitting so much - id stay an extra day or two just to relax
-
The OCC advises 21 days liquids. I have not found any other doctor that reccommends that - but he is very successful! Most others do 14 days liquids and then start of soft foods like you mentioned. I'd listen to your DR and then if you have any questions just call and talk to them about it. I feel your pain though - I am 18 days post op lol i cant wait for day 22!

hi, I am curious if anyone here has gotten to their goal or close to it and not needed any plastic surgery for their tummies, etc? I am wanting to lose quite a bit of weight and the thought of having to have a ton of surgery after losing the weight is disappointing. Can anything be done to prevent it? I know creams and lotions wont really do much - but will alot of exercising?
