That sucks! I hope you get some relief soon! I ordered Ocharleys potato soup without the potatos and bacon today to go for lunch. it went down fine but about 2 hours later, i had such a pain in my stomach - i was very bloated for about an hour. Ive really gotten hungry as of last night and all today - I think going back to work has alot to do with it - Im moving around more and smelling food ( I am a GM of a food retailer) plus all of my employees are eating all the time. I am getting really discouraged about the 21 day liquids - I have it marked on my calender at work the dayI i can eat food and I really really really miss and want to eat food and feel bad for it because it seems like everyone else breezed through the 21 days and I dont know why its going to be hard for me? -

That "full" feeling I'm not feeling
Christy26 replied to JulieG's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Julie, Dr. Martinez told me last week on the phone that one of the biggest mistakes people make is being TOO cautious with their drinking and taking too small of sips and actually end up swallowing more air and causing gas because of this. He told me our sips should be atleast an ounce to an ounce and a half (a normal drink for me) and it should not take us very long to drink anything. He gave me the example that a 10 oz bottle water should take me 8-10 drinks to finish. He said as soon as I swallow, I should feel it go down my throat and be able to drink again immediately. I can't help with the other part of your question, sorry! -

Ive been drinking hot chocolate the whole time. Its mixed with water and I figured since coffee and tea were allowed, hot chocolate would be fine. I havent tried fudgecicles yet but Im assuming they would be fine after day 7. Ive been wondering about Wendys Frostys? The small one, ya know? Its not made in a blender and would be a ggreat treat! What do u think? -
ouch, that sucks but atleast you know what it feels like now and can avoid it!

Question about creamy soup stage
Christy26 replied to ckiki's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I am definitely starting creamy soups tomorrow. I haven't been hungry at all until this afternoon, all of a sudden my stomach growled! lol I gave up the broth days ago, I couldn't do it anymore. I am on just the drinkable yogurts and water/lemonade and popcicles. -
Nicole, 90 lbs! wow! thats great! I have stayed off the scale now - I am waiting for a while so I dont get disappointed. Thanks for all the support

Question about payment for the fill
Christy26 replied to ckiki's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I have my first fill scheduled for Feb 19th -
I finally burped last night -- the gas pain has been awful for me - not in my shoulder but selttleing in my chest and just feeling so bloated. I stopped bothering with the gas-x strips because this isnt the same kind of gas that those strips help. they were doing nothing for me anyway. I walked around walmart for about an hour last night and i was able to go to sleep last night. hopefully it will just go away with time - and walking - Good luck

Good luck! I hope it goes well and you feel restriction

Well thats good to know. The two people I know in person who've had lapband are able to eat crusty breads but not soft breads. Dr Ortiz told me I should be able to eat the exact same things I ate before surgery, just 1/3 of that (once the fills are done). Im a vegetarian so I am somewhat limited in what i eat so veggie sandwhiches are kinda big in my diet - so I was curious. I was fully prepared to give up bread but both doctors told me it was fine, I would just have to figure out which ones i can handle. I was very relieved when Dr. Ortiz told me I could eat anything after surgery. I know I will have some things that i probably wont be able to tolerate but its reassuring anyway.

So, before my surgery I met with Dr. Miranda, and she went over my diet. She told me I could have bread as long as it was the harder breads or toasted Do any of you eat bread (like sandwhiches, etc)?

Wow that is scary, I am glad you are ok! I hope everything gets back to normal for you

JANUARY SURGERIES AND FILLS
Christy26 replied to Dolittle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
sawdawg, I did not lose all of my required weight. I was on my period at the time of surgery so they didnt say anything about my weight. I know when I first scheduled surgery, they just told me to "do my best" to lose the weigh due to the holidays. Good luck -
Hey So I was banded on Thursday, Jan 8th around 11am. I have not had any solid food since Wednesday around 5pm (PB Crackers) - I've been on the liquid diet since banding - its now Sunday evening.... My weight at surgery was 235. My weight this morning was 237. How did i gain 2 pounds after not eating for days? I am hoping this is just some of the gas, water retention, etc... Anyone else experience this?

Congrats, thats amazing!! Great job

Good luck and please let us know how your dinner went

Hey! It was great meeting you at the OCC! I hope you are doing well. I am really sore still and having the gas pain but I guess thats to be expected. Good luck on your journey -
Hey everyone, thanks for all the nice replies and being so supportive. From my spelling in the first post you can tell I was still a little "out of it" lol I got home last night around 10pm EST. It was a LONG day of traveling and I was having alot of pain. My mom got worried and called the OCC and Dr. Martinez called right back and talked to me for about 30 mins, really just calming me down, and gave suggestions on what i could do and told me I was going to be fine. He said he would call and check on me Monday morning. Then he called my mother back to let her know he checked on me and told her the same things he told me and calmed HER down too. lol That was really great. He wasn't even the one who did my surgery. So I did some walking last night that late, took some liquid tylenol and a shower, and went to bed and slept until about 5am. I woke up and walked for a bit and went back to sleep until around 9 am and I feel alot better this morning, still tender and sore and still alot of gas pain but I am going to do alot of little walks today to hopefully get those out of my system. Anyways, overall my experience at the OCC was great - it was the long day of traveling (all day) that had me in pain. I'm excited to lose some weight!

Hey everyone, I was banded today at the OCC. Everyone was right about how nice and helpful - the staff is very sweet- one nurse Carmella was been wonderful to me. Dr. Ortiz is very funny. nice, and confident. he was great I will write more of my experience later but i just wanted to let everyone know everything went fine for all of the patients today. We just all have the tenderness in the port area and a little gas pain. The OCC *is* very clean too, by the way. Thanks, Christy
