I tried to eat a couple of fries and they got stuck. The pain was excrutiating and scary. I was frantic until it stopped. The fries are not worth it. SheRee

Thank you Mona. I am trying to get a new attitude. You are right that the 13 pounds would have been gained instead of lost. I will try to be patient. I guess the first fill just isn't enough and I really wanted it to be. How long after a fill do you have to wait to get another?? Thanks again, SheRee

At this point I would NOT have had the band if I had it to do all over again. It is NOY helping me at all. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and have not lost a single ounce. Yes, I am following all the pickin rules and I have only lost 13 pounds since being baned in Dec. I think I wasted money that I didn't have and wish I had it back instead of the band. Was the heck is restriction anyway. I paid all this money for nothing but tightness with food going down now and then and lots of extra burps. This thing was a waste. I am way depressed and embarressed. SheRee

Nobody else having surgery or getting filled on Valentine's Day??? I suppose the rest of y'all have a sweetheart to be with that day. My sweetie is my 14 year old daughter is is going to join me inMexico for the weekend. Let me know if you'll be at the hotel the night of the 13th or morning of the 14th. SheRee

Thank you so much for posting this. I really needed to hear it. I am getting my first fill this Saturday. At this point I have ZERO willpower nor do I feel like I ever even had surgery. I can eat ALOT and I DO. I know this is "wrong" but I feel as if there is NO restriction. I sincerely hope I have done any damage by overeating but I have never felt any restriction or tightness or pain or like anything is stuck. I just eat. It sucks so bad becaus eI am a single mom on a teacher's salary and it seems to me like I wasted so big wad of money at this point. I pray that after my fill I will feel restriction and lose weight....after all that's the point of the surgery. I just really thought that there would be SOME kind of difference with just the band. OMG, I didn't even realize I achieved that same victory. I am down from 189 to 177. Thanks for the good news and I'm glad I get to share in that joy. Off to normal for both of us!! SheRee

Just find out ahead of time if she can stay the night at the OCC. If not you can be released to the hotel the night of the surgery instead of staying at the OCC. They wouldn't let any spouses or friends stay at the OCC but did tell us we could go early to the hotel.

My bad!! It is a 10CM band that holds 4CC of fluid. I stand corrected and less confused.

Just curious about everyone's band size. I am pretty sure Dr. So told me that my band ( and all of the patients who had surgery the same day that I did) is a 10 cc band. Seems like so many have a 4 cc band. My BMI was 32 at time of surgery and others were higher/lower etc. Just wondering how they decide on the size of band that each person gets.

I'm doing pretty good. Still bloated but down about 5 pounds. No hunger but of course craving food at times. I feel like 3 weeks is so long for just liquids but I'm not hungry. I actually feel so full just after drinking. My port incision is just a little sore but other than that all is well. Thanks for asking. How are you doing? SheRee

I was banded on the 29th by Dr. Martinez. The OCC staff and hotel staff were so professional and friendly. I am feeling pretty good today. Yesterday I was very lethargic. I am on day 4 of clear liquids. I am NOT hungry at all but I am having cravings. When that happens I just sip on something then I'm fine. I was wondering about pudding... a craving I'm having. Is that only after day 21 or can we start that on day 10? I would also like jello...when can we have that? Thanks for your feedback. SheRee

Hello, Does anyone know how far it is from the border to Hotel Lucerna? I'm leaving in the morning and have my surgery Monday. I am so ANXIOUS. I've been fine up until last night. I couldn't sleep and have had a tummy ache all day. I'm on edge and kinda snippy with my kids. Anyway. just wondering how much furthar our drive will be after we get picked up at the Border Station Parking.

Thanks Lori. It was all hear-say so I wasn't really worried. I just wondered if it happened at the OCC. I'm excited about my upcoming surgery and have total confidence in all of the staff at the OCC. SheRee

I just heard fron a friend who said she just read somewhere that several people who have had lap band surgery at the OCC have gone in thinking they were going to have laproscopic surgery but due to complications they end up having to be cut open to complete the surgery. Have any of you heard about this? What kind of complication would require this? Would it then cost more? Just curious. SheRee

Wow, I thought I was the only one addicted to Diet Coke. I know I will have to give it up so I've been cutting back. My mom had gastric bypass 4 years ago and she still can't tolerate carbonation. I hope I am like those who say they don't miss it. I think this will be one of my hardest things about after the surgery. We CAN do this. It's better for our health anyway. SheRee

I was just wondering why you can't have a drink when you have a meal. I feel like I take a sip after every bite right now. I don't get banded until the 29th. Thanks for all the info on this site.

Hi Dawn, Yes my name is SheRee (sounds like Marie and it does have a capital R. My parents wanted to make sure people didn't call me Sherry.) Anyway, I'll be getting to the hotel on the 28th. My daughter can't come now because she has basketball practice and doesn't want to miss. So my ex and I will be alone together. I also have surgery on the 29th. We will be leaving on the 31st. I hate driving but I will probably sleep during some of the 5 hour drive. I'll try to post a picture befor then. I don't know how but my teenagers will.

Does anyone if I can take meds the morning of the surgery? I take Cymbalta and birth control every morning and with either of these I get into kind of a weird funk if I don't take them daily. Especially the Cymbalta and it's in capsule form so I can't cut it in half. Also I'll need it ASAP after the surgery. Any info??
