  1. Turn on the positive mental energy, every day look in the mirror tell yourself what a great job you are doing - be proud of how you look and your accomplishments. Change up your exercise routine and even the time you normally exercise. (Shut your bedroom door and every night add in 30 minutes of dancing to really bad 70's music that make you use your hips) Cut your protein down to 60 grams per day and get some extra green veggies into you. Keep your calories at 1100 for the next 3 weeks, (watch your alcohol intake – that always gets me when I really start looking at it….) and know you’re going to start loosing the weight today! Go do it! (If you don't its OK, your doing great - it will come off)!! But its not bad advice and might work - did for me!
  2. You look so happy and beautiful! Congrats, and hope you two have fun tonight, I'm sure you are your husbands best birthday present - he must be so proud of you! Wish him happy birthday for us!
  3. Every couple of months for work and family. Too bad - wish I could meet you! I know its late, next time I'll give more warning! Have fun at the 40th party!! (I'll have a drink for you at the palms) Love it as well, there's always a fun group of people there!
  4. I’m booking a quick trip to Scottsdale and in that local my favorite watering hole is the Royal Palms. I will most likely be there for drinks this coming Sunday around 7:00 if anyone is interested in meeting up. (Make sure you let me know if you want to meet, if not I’m doing the town)! I’ll be in the bar somewhere close to the piano. Hope to see some of you there! Best, Lisa
  5. Welcome, however since you're on the Obesity Control Center Lap Band Surgery Forum you're visiting a site where most didn't have insurance, couldn't get it or went here because he’s the best damn lapband Doctor around. (He’s proctored many of the Doctors in the States and throughout the world). The cost is about a third of what you pay in the States, his facility is top notch and if getting insurance continues to be a problem and you want to make a change in your life you should give LoriBecky a call. I never even tried to get it covered by insurance - I just paid and went in. Needed to make a change and no one was getting in my way. Best of luck to you and hope it all works out! Lisa
  6. I only avoided carbonated drinks for the first 6 months since they can cause slippage. (And still hardly drink these - they don't taste as good since I'm out of the habit) High calorie foods/drinks, don't need the calories, I was trying to loose weight. (Done) And still try to stay away from all unless its healthy or a good glass of red wine which actually fits under healthy. Everything else I've always eaten - just chew the heck out of it. If its something I like and its good for me - if I can chew it to paste - I'm going to eat it. With my band, sometimes I can eat something, sometimes I can’t – its pretty fickle. So I generally will try things that I know are good for me. I eat rice, bread (very well toasted wheat) and whatever. I take small bites - chew it up to nothing and let it go down. Best, Lisa
  7. You look amazing!! Congrats, you are really a great inspiration! (You look like a Ralph Lauren model)!!
  8. Sorry to hear about this, make sure you always have anti nausea medication on hand in case of you get sick. I always have Promethazine close by, its a script my doctor wrote for me - I have one bottle at work, one at home and one in my car. You want to do everything possible to combat this. I talked to my doctor and let him now I received the lap band and he wrote the script for me. I've only used it once but I'm very glad I have it on hand because we can cause a slip by doing this. If you can't get it from your doctor, please go talk to a pharmacist for OTC anti nausea medication. Best, Lisa Here's a link to some OTC chewable: http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp...amp;catid=59908
  9. I'll be honest, if someone needs to try something different to succeed I think that’s great. When much of the strong opinions come out about cheating, I come out honest and hard *(So do others) when someone starts failing within the first 21 days. Since this is when the newbies can actually put their health at risk. (When they are suppose to be on liquids and jump on solids) That’s when you get the tough love from Lisa. Otherwise do what works for you. I hope for your success! Best, Lisa
  10. This is a hard one. I love my husband so much, and we've been together since 78, I just can’t imagine leaving him for weight or anything. In my opinion, loosing his weight is his battle, he needs to buy into it, loosing your weight is yours. You can support each other on this journey, but you need to own your own success or failures. If my husband succeeded or failed, I’d still be with him. And he couldn't stop me from my success, but my success wouldn’t stop me from loving him. That’s a given. I know that my husband was very worried about me loosing weight and they all think we might leave them. Its a normal guy thing (Guys out there don't listen for a minute) they are just nutty some times and more afraid of things than we are and do silly little boy things to combat things that scare them!! (At least mine does) But my goal was to build his confidence while building my own. I knew once I made the decision to change and loose the weight that it was going to happen, I told him - he'd do little things to sabotage without realizing it. I talk to him about it, and let him know how much this benefited him. I think with men the more we threaten, the more they pull away and fight and do the opposite of what we want them to do. (Don’t get me wrong, I can be feisty, and some of these conversations got downright hot, but all ended with how they benefit him). Good luck, I hope the best for you, but in my opinion you need to let him get to his own bottom of what got him fat! (Sorry if that comes out wrong) And focus on what got you there, then just support each others journeys. If he doesn’t want to take one – that’s OK, just work to have him support you. When he sees the positive changes you making he’ll most likely jump on board, you know how men hate to miss a good thing! Best, Lisa
  11. It can happen, I just had surgery, (something to repair my body after all of this weight loss) on Friday and I gained like 6 pounds from all the fluids they pump in me. Just focus on recovery and think good thoughts, remember your body just had surgery and it’s a bit traumatic for it. It needs time to recover; you’ll have all the extra fluids that they put in you, along with the water you’re most likely retaining. Be confidant that the weight will come off, because it will and rest up and relax a bit! Take care, Lisa
  12. I was banded on Friday, flew home on Sunday - took Monday off and was back to work by Tuesday. But I sit behind a desk so I can get away with more. And I was fine with it - if I was doing anything physical for my job I'd most likely add a couple of days on there just to give my body more time to heal.
  13. As long as you chew good it wont - what stops me from making it happen again is thinking about going on that dang 3-day liquid diet - I chew everything like someone said before a "food processor" now. I hate liquid diets!
  14. Sorry this happened! It is horrible - please make sure to go on liquids for 3 days for healing. Something was stuck and trying to come up and caused the pain and aggravation. Not fun, but make sure you chew really well; you know have a really good fill and you needed to turn your food into liquid before you swallowed! Take care and hope you feel better today!
  15. This is normal for some, make sure you are eating really slow and when you get that sensation stop and wait. Then I would take a look and see if there was anything chunky in your soup that you didn't chew? Was it thicker? You may only be able to eat smaller amounts, so try cutting down. Its great that you noticed – you’re listening to your body and its telling you to slow down. Best, Lisa
  16. You think we're all BABE's I've never known a banded girl that you didn't think was cute!
  17. Sorry, I get to beat that one with Dr. Nyte, I know of 2 people who are public with the work he's done on them. (Myself and Pammie) he's has great experience with pts that have been banded. Thanks again Pammie for recommending him to me!! I had an extended tummy tuck, some lippo a breast lift and just had a breast Augmentation. Pammie has posted about her tummy tuck and breast Augmentation. We both are loving it! And since he's not in the higher priced Seattle area he's able to pass the better prices on to us. However he is one of the best - board certified and has had fellowship training with some of the best Doctors. I just had work done on Friday, and I love it!! You could have a tummy tuck and Saline Breast Augmentation for about the same price as the Seattle Doc Abdominoplasty! (Dont' be mad at me Cara)! I can't tell you how great it is to look in the mirror and actually love how your body looks. Now I know why Pamela Anderson likes to be naked! (OK, I’m not that good, but hey – its an amazing improvement from a huge size 22! I now have a small waist, perky nice shaped breasts – life is good)! 18. Wow Cyndi!! Congrats on your success - that's awesome!! Its great to hear from you, I has banded a couple of weeks before you and I'm so happy for you! I love the OCC myself and am so grateful for all they have done for me! (I'm taking a couple of minutes off work for lunch and it was great to see your post)! Congrats again and thanks for letting us know of your success! Lisa
  19. Here’s my take on this and some of you may not want to read, its not all that positive. At times we will have people come on line that unfortunately may have mental problems. How we deal with it determines whether or not it goes away. Unfortunately from my viewpoint we continue to turn it into the Jerry Springer show and personalize it, which is what “they” seem to enjoy and why they may be coming back. If we just did what our forum moderators say we’d do much better. Do not respond to his post and if all possible I recommend we stop talking about it, (He most likely will come back to read) don’t let it affect you and just hit ignore and let the moderators know that “they’re back”. PM to our newbies to just ignore and get on with life. We’re have all different personalities here which is great, we may not at all times like what each other is saying, and can take or leave it, it doesn’t always have to be positive but it shouldn’t be mean – however can we just stop the drama over a poor person that just needs some professional help, that would be great.
  20. I like Skinny Cow fudgesicals, only 90 calories and really good! We all have weak moments, you’re safely past the liquids on faze – so you haven’t’ done any harm to your band, you just added in some extra calories that you shouldn’t have. Whenever I make mistakes like this I add up the calories and add in extra exercise for the week until I burn them off. One important note, make sure you try really hard to stick with the program. Once you really get into cheating – cheating gets easier and really can stall your success. (You’ll learn that we can eat other foods that go down easily as well). So try to stay away from the junk food, and areas where you are most likely to cheat. Take care and get busy burning off those calories!! Best, Lisa
  21. You really need to focus, you're not just blowing a diet - you are putting your health at risk. And if you really can't do it and keep cheating - please do get the band removed. I'm not trying to be mean but the truth is you don't want anything bad to happen to your band because you can't keep away from solids for the time it takes to heal. (Its only 3 weeks of your life). I'm going to give you a little bit of tough love here, knock it off and get on the program - you really can do this, so please stop this nonsense. I'll be honest - when I heard you were drinking the milkshakes and thicker soup I had a clue that you were going to have a hard time. You need to buy into the fact that you made a decision to get the band to loose weight, with that you have to make some changes in your lifestyle. The benefits outweigh the losses - and if those few pieces of spaghetti mean more to you than your health…. I know you can do – kick yourself in the behind and get on the program. You’re a beautiful woman and I’m dying to see what you are going to look like when you loose the weight. So don’t disappoint me!! Best, Lisa
  22. I had training with PHYTO, I personally love and use their products. I haven’t used this one, however based on the tests its suppose to work great (and reviews, both good and bad are in there). I've ordered it and will let you know how it works, it is pricy. $50 per bottle 120 pills and you take two a day, so it averages out to be $25 per month. If you’re interested in this line you can find it at local salons (call to see who carries this line) and its all natural and has really made a big difference in my hair. (You can actually see the difference in my hair in my before and after pictures – since I needed new products to combat the hair loss I stared using this line – big difference) http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp...amp;catid=29055 I receive many free products, but since I use this one I have to buy it – but its worth it. One thing about hair, its like exercising – you need to switch things up every once in a while – it gets use to the same program. (That’s why PHYTO carries so many different types – you’re taught to switch your products).
  23. It happens, just don't get discouraged!! One important note is that our mental attitude really affects our weight loss or gain, there are some studies happening right now to support this. I really never ate over 1200 calories a day, I couldn’t – but would supplement with protein and vitamins. I often hit plateaus, you just learn to live with them – its your body adjusting. You are doing everything right – do track your food if you aren’t just to make sure you aren’t getting in more than you should (or way to less) and I’m sure that Dr. Miranda will have some great suggestions. Focus on how great you are doing and give yourself a pat on the back!! And start really thinking positive thoughts, don’t get down on yourself – unfortunately this may cause the hold on your weight loss. I had to really learn how to do this, and it has benefited me in so many ways! Take care! Lisa
  24. I had tried so many times to loose the weight and failed. The lap band seemed like my last option, I knew if I failed at this I would be obese for the rest of my life. I made the decision with a bold "I" and researched to the find the doctor that best fit my needs. This was purely for me, I know my husband worried about my weight and loved me big or small, but was more concerned with my health as yours is. However I needed to get on a program that I could stick with and I believed in. I hated being fat, it just didn’t fit who I felt I was so I could be pretty cranky and not fun to be around – I and many others got tired of that. I was just way to unhappy and needed to make a change – made my mind up and went for it – and did it fast. Damn glad I did, its changed my life for the better and I know I'm going to live a longer healthier life now. I have to say this, many people were not happy that I was going to Mexico either, however they trust my decision making skills – so when I told them I was going to Dr. Ortiz in Mexico, they figured he must be the best and generally kept their mouths closed. (Its not fun to get the “what are you a friggen idiot” Lisa stair if they said something stupid). Great Doctor, great staff, great facility. And I can say nothing bad about a nutritionist, I have a team of them that works for me, however they are not with you 24-7 to stop you from putting the wrong food in your mouth or eating too much. I know what I should eat – I needed a tool to help me and that’s what the band is. Good luck and hope all the best for you!
  25. Before you get a fill that kicks in many of us do (or did) count calories. Once you hit a (I say “a” since mine come and go) fill sweet spot you don’t have too, you’re not as hungry and can’t eat as much with a good fill anyhow so there’s really no reason to count calories unless you’re being silly and drinking them in. I used this time as an opportunity to be smart about my food intake and as an opportunity to stop some of my bad habits of eating (Fast food, high calorie junk). Its really up to you to find what works. Best, Lisa
