  1. doesn't go down so well for me. but i much prefer sashimi.
  2. I know there's a lot of question in this forum in terms of what to eat. I just found this post by fitness & nutrition guru, Jill Coleman. People who eat the same foods day in & day out have better weight loss success ..
  3. I wasn't getting my fills done at the OCC, but I know they would do more than 1 fill in a 3 week period. It's baby steps, if you're getting it done without flouro. It's not a one-shot deal.
  4. i too, had very little restriction until my 3rd fill. I feel perfect now, after my 4th fill.
  5. GREAT info!!! You should put this in a sticky thread ... this is something a lot of new bandsters NEED to remember!
  6. why would she be swollen after a standard fill?
  7. it's time to seek the mental guidance to deal with your over eating. while fills will help with the physical feeling of being full, it won't help with the mental side. google over eaters anonymous, and or/ seek a therapist to help you work through this. the band is only a band-aid solution to something much more.
  8. comfy clothes!!!! jogging pants will be your best friend and pack light. you'll be in and out of pj's the entire visit a laptop would also be a wise idea.
  9. This was an interesting question, and aactually sent me on a quest to see if it was covered under my FSA - I'm in Canada, and sadly, isn't included (but an artificial eyeball is ..lolO)
  10. i was back to being physical (i walk dogs) shortly after. Maybe 5 days? I was really gassy, but everyone handles things differently.
  11. i'm not sure how it works in the States, but in Canada, every time a credit check is run, it's a ding on your overall score.
  12. some things in life don't go the way we want ... I know most of us paid for this out of pocket, in cash. This surgery was a 'luxury' for me, and i didn't want to go in debt for it. i know the finance companies charge an outrageous amount in interest, so pls keep that in mind.
  13. I was walking a day after surgery ... and back at the gym, light lifting, 7 days after ... just listen to your body.
  14. You should certainly be able to swallow liquids. You should be able to eat, with very small bits, and lots of chewing. The goal of the band is slight restriction - not complete restriction. as wonderful as it is 'not to eat', you need to understand the strain you're putting on your band - there's been quite a few recent threads regarding over-fills, incluidng one member who had to have her band removed because she had it too tight for a few months. just sayin'.
  15. sounds like it's time to change things up. Your body has adapted to it's routine. Do you have access to weights & other forms of cardio? Have you been keeping a food journal? That's normally a perfect tell-tail way of figuring out what's really going on. If you haven't been food tracking, i suggest you start a food journal - a great online site is Fitday.com - and it's free.
  16. I'm so proud of you!!!! You must feel amazing -- it's so surreal, isn't it?!
  17. Find something you love doing .... For me, it was weight training. For others, it might be yoga ... might be other group classes. Take advantage of all of the programs your gym offers, until you find something that keeps you comin' back for more. Keeping fit & active shouldn't be a chore, nor should it be something you're not looking forward to! Years ago, I took up squash, and joined a womans' only league .. Keep an open mind, and try it all
  18. totally agree. i've had to cut pizza from my diet ... i just can swallow & stomach it anymore.
  19. I just wanted to give an honest heads-up to any of those Ontario/Toronto based people who might be looking for fills in the GTA. The ONLY clinic that did outside fills was CIBO. I got news during my last week fill, that they are NOT accepting new 'outside' patients. . For me, this was a major factor when deciding to get my lapband at the OCC - i personally wanted to ensure I could get my fills done close to home. I just want all of those Ontario people to keep in mind the only other place I've found that does fills 'near by' is Fill Centers USA, the closest location being Troy, Michigan.
  20. me too .. this has happened to me. this is the worst of the PB'ing, and something i HATE feeling ... esp when I know it's comin' up fast!
  21. 9am - 1/2 scoop calcium caseinate 1/2 oats = nummy shake!
  22. Everyone else said it best ... just keep on going, and you'll get past this little bump in the road. You do need support in terms of your eating - this is something that the OCC can't provide for you as easily, as clinics who do this surgery locally. The psychological backup of the band is really what will ensure your success. Many of us have horrible food habits, which is really the hardest part of this. This is your chance for change. Embrace it, and move on
  23. Hm. 'normal', i wouldn't say so ... I'm not sure why you'd be swollen after a 2nd fill. It sounds like you're too tight. If swallowing liquids is an issue, it sounds like you have too much restriction.
