  1. Hi - so sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter, I can see how that would be a very sad and hard time for you. My thoughts are with you!

  2. Kristi - Oh my heavens has my restriction came back, dare I say with a vengence. WOW today, I slept in and when I got up I fixed my son his lunch. (he eats early like at 10:50) I made a snack size mac'n cheese with a can of tuna for us both to share. I am not sure if it was one bite to many or if it was because my band was still closed from being a sleep. I had a soft stop indicator, but I had barely eaten anything! So, I was a big dummy and took one more bite. Okay so everything was fine, and THEN! I had to go to the sink. I actually tossed my cookies. Not like a gentle PB it was like a vomit. Holy smokes. It made my poor little stoma, band and stomach hurt. Um, so ya I have my restriction back and need to pay attention to the learning curve I have been thrown! WOW! Normally I have the adjustment time the first few days of going back to solids. This is a delayed restriction so I guess I thought I could eat like I had been. Hold up sista girl! That is not the case. So I will be taking baby steps from here on out. The band has my attention. Gesh! Glad to hear hubby is in town! Hope you are enjoying every minute! Thanks for your reply!
  3. Hi Debbie! I wanted to take a moment and let you know that each of the links the Lindsay posted are for seperate links. (Although it looks like the same link, if you click each of them they take you to different posts.) Tricky. Personally, I totally stink using the search features. Turth be told even when I am looking for a certain post, I ask Carrie to help me. lol I want to say you are so right on about your point on kindness. A little bit goes along way. The beauty of a forum is all the differnent points of view and people. We don't need to be harsh to anyone asking for help. Lindsay - I really appreciate you putting those posts up. That was awesome. It is easier to coach someone through something, especially when they are new. If they learn from the experience then they can pass it on later. One thing is for certain, if you stick around this forum for a long period of time you will see the same questions over and over. The cool thing about it for me is, I was once the one asking, and now I am often times the one responding! When I first became a member here, I really didn't have much to offer, but I sure wanted to become involved. Most of the members really where friendly and had good relationships with each other. That was very attractive. Now, I am pleased to say that I have several banded friends, and some I even speak with over the phone or txt! Which is very cool!
  4. I pry sound like a nut! Oh good fill, no wait..what is happening, no hold up the restriction is back. HA! What would I do with out you guys! My hubby should thank his lucky stars I have a great forum to turn too. Otherwise he would be going crazy and I would be giving him a headache! LOL Sabrina - I know how you feel. I will not forget you sharing what restriction does for you in this weight loss journey. We have so much in common on that front. I really can not tell you how much better I felt in a weird way when you shared your story. Being able to relate to someone made me feel less like an alien. Sometimes, even though we are not all alone, it can feel like we are the only ones in the world that feel or do some of the things we do. I was so happy to know I was not the only one that restriction matters too! What a relief. I hope that I can recover from my food obsession and heal the part of me that is so overboard with food and the like. I've been an emotional eater since I was a child. At anyrate, I think I will always want to give you a huge ol hug for sharing your truth. I was going to mention to you earlier, but spaced off. If you want to hear my voice, you can listen to one of my videos on you tube. I am getting involved with the weightloss community there too. It is fricking huge! I have made a few vids nothing special. At anyrate you can hear me there. My screen name is faith8412. Oh and I hope to improve my habits too and have more self control over eating! Time is on our sides! We have the band!
  5. Carrie - you are laugh out loud funny! I love your new words too. Nope I am not from TX, but married a texan! LOL
  6. Debbie - I was just showing you off to my hubby! We have not met and I am so proud of your success! How funny is that! He was impressed by the way.
  7. Hey there! I have my restriction back! Thank goodness, I was tripping out about being so open!

  8. The main reason for the pre op is to shrink the fat around the liver. If you can loose weight on a low fat diet, I say go for it. I did 2 shakes and a lean meal in the evening and it worked well for me. I was .2 lbs off from my 15 lbs I had to loose. 14.8 is what I lost. Another reason for the shakes is to shrink your stomach and to prepare you for the post op diet. Which I recommend you get ready for. Personally it was hard on me. Now that I am banded and have some time under by belt, I could do the 21 days of liquids, but to be honest, it was a real tough thing for me to do. What did you have in mind for loosing the weight? Excerise? If that is the case, I would say nope, do the diet. Get yourself ready for what is down the road.
  9. I sorta feel like yesterday was a gift....NOW THAT I HAVE RESTRICTION BACK. ( I know that sounds terrible, but to eat freely when you haven't been able to feels good.) It really twisted my mind though, I seriously feel like I've been on a rollercoaster ride of good fill, what the heck, good fill. Geesh! All I know is I am so grateful to have my restriction back. Hence the reason I was so heavy to begin with, I lack a shut off button or self control on portions. Sabrina you were the first person I had read on here who said, that restriction matters to you. Ditto! It makes a world of difference for me too. I love it, it helps me to feel much more control of my eating habits. Ya know what Sabrina, I do not have an accent, but you know who does......our very own mynewlife, aka Carrie. She has a texan accent. I get a kick out of talkin to her. I would love to meet all you guys. Maybe one of these days we will cross paths. *crosses fingers* I am so very glad to have you guys to turn too. I wouldn't know near the "stuff" I do with out you sharing your experience. I remember you posting about having days where your band just opens up. Still knowing it is possible, first hand experience is a real eye opener. Thank heavens I can come here and get some balance. Thanks!
  10. Sabrina! Oh my goodness you were right on the money girl! So check this out, I had 1/2 a large apple with peanut butter and was full; for my breakfast. Lunch I had tuna with a splash of mac'n cheese. I put it in a one cup container and viala! I was full again. Up till now I have stopped myself after eating 1 cup of food. I was not having soft stops of feelings of being full. Now!!! I am feeling full on a cup of food! How awesome is that! I am so glad you mentioned the band opening up. Fickle fickle little band! How I love you even if you are moody! LOL I am so relieved! I missed my restriction and was wonder what the heck was happening! I am such a foodie that I feel lucky that it happened yesterday! LOL I ate some very yummy food and had no issues. I always have a concern in the back of my mind about having "issues" in front of people! So glad hubby decided to go with you. Heck, at that price....why not!? Have a good time and make sure you tell all! PS consults!!!! WOW! I am excited for you. I'll be waiting for the scoop! LOL Thanks for replying....it was driving me batty. You were right, my restriction returned the morning! CRAZY!
  11. Diana - I am so dissappointed in this fill. To be honest, it feel like I can eat more than I was able to before the fill. My husband picked up a stuffed crust pizza from Pappa Johns Take and Bake, I think that is the name of the place and I was able to eat 1/2 of a slice.....crust and all. My hubby was like what the heck is going on?! He has unfortunatly seen me head for the sink for a PB before, so he gets what the real deal is. Oh my gosh Diana, I was sooo sooo grateful to have my band yesterday, as I am sure it would have been a much "worse" day for me if I had not had it. For me restriction DOES MATTER and I am work in progress. Not having my friend restriction gaven me some much loved and not loved freedom. If I had not SEEN for my own eyes the barium going down slower, I woul think I had not gotten a fill at all. I called the Dr.s office yesterday to speak to a nurse about it, but have not been called back yet. I'll hang on, and hope that my restriction level kicks in. I will say that the 1/2 slice of pizza did taste good. I have avoided crust, bread or anything of the sorts for nearly the entire time I've been banded. Just recently have I had bread on a sandwich. To be honest, I wish I had more of an issue with eating it. Just tastes too good ya know. I am still trying to wrap my mind around this fill. I hope hope hope it kicks in soon. We have more parties to go to and frankly, I can not be trusted to make good choices when there are sooo many yummy choices. Still pretty weak in that right. That was the point of getting a fill BEFORE THE HOLIDAY PARTIES! Ugh....what is a foodie to do.....reform my ways..... I am so glad you are still here, I don't see you post a whole lot....I've missed you! ((HUGS)) I love your postive outlook and words of wisdom!
  12. B - coffee with ff cream slice of cheese L - tortilla roll, 3 cream puffs, chicken and beans, 2 types of dip, one with tortilla chips and one with crackers, small sample of cheese cake. 20 oz vw
  13. Okay forum buddies - I am so confused and need some feed back. I had a fill on Monday, where they added .4 cc's into my band. I watched the barium go through the band and by far this was the best fill I have gotten so far. That being said, I am beside myself. Normally when I start back on food from being on liquids I have what I call an adjustment period. A time when I am getting to know my band after a fill. This time, I was hoping for the sweet spot. So far, I am limiting my food intake and have had not one issue adjusting to the new fill. No Pb's or slim. Last night I even had a slice of pizza from my sons birthday. What the heck?! We had a pot luck at work today. I could eat anything. I had chicken and beans, dip on a cracker, 3 cream puffs, and a tortila roll.....no soft stops, no feeling full at all. Oh, and taco dip and chips too. I have to admit, I ate more than I normally do, but I was kinda testing the band. Not one hiccup, or feeling of getting full. No issue with the tortilla. The chicken and beans went down fine. Do you think these foods fall under the "slider" catagory? I've heard it can take a fill a week or two to settle in.....do I need to wait this out. I feel like after 5 fills I should be at a place where my food intake is limited greatly. Any feed back would be appreciated. Also I do not drink before or fast my meals for the standard time set. Pammie - Lisa - Clynn - Dana - Dolittle - Holly - JazzyJude - Shelby - Sabrina - Carrie - Tootsie_Lou - Trav - Dan - Kristi - Mona-Camille - BrandNewDawn - Montana - Sandra09 - Lisal Anyone of you guys around.
  14. OMG Debbie! Talk about amazing! I am so glad you shared these pictures, you look wonderful! The band looks good on you woman!
  15. Come visit, make sure to bring a heavy coat, and the winter gear, you will need it! COLD with wind chill it has dipped down to -25 below....now that is cold!

  16. Hey slimbutrfly - I think there are several things that factor in to having the dreaded extra skin. Not to long ago, someone mentioned if you have stretch marks you are more apt to have extra skin. Also doing resistance training should help keep the skin and muscles tone and conditioned. Only time will tell. Staying hydrated and taking good care of your skin will be a plus too. I've heard that peeps who loose slower will be less apt to have extra skin too. Really who knows.... I am in the beginning of my weight loss and because I have gained and lost previously I will be having some "areas" that will need some help and I fully intend on having some work done. Hope this helps.
  17. Lindsay - she is new. We get asked the same questions over and over. A bit of tolerance and some direction on how to search may be a more proactive approach. I do not see any rules that say you can't ask a question more than once. If it bugs you so much, move on to the next post. The new people don't know what has been ask a million times....hence being NEW.
  18. I've stayed local and see a bariatric group at a local hospital. They do less aggressive fills but I have the convenience of staying home and not traveling with a young family at home. My son is 2 and my hubby works some crazy hours.
  19. My port still has plenty of pad above it! It will be a while before I have those concerns. I can sleep on my stomach or any which way I want. No issues. It did take a few weeks to be able to sleep on my tummy, but hey they just stitched a port in the muscle tissue. LOL
  20. I hope your birthday was a good one! Today is my sons 2 year birthday. We are opening prezzies tonight! I am pretty excited! I am doing good. Had a fill this past Monday. I am hoping with all my heart that this will be the one that tightens up the zip tie! LOL ((HUGS))
  21. Donna - I love that you do your own fills. After you posted a while back, I began looking into supplies and doing my own fills. I've decided that I am going to continue going to my Dr for fills right now, but the thought of it was very interesting indeed. I am so happy that you are in the drivers seat of your health care and are doing so well. I recently had my 5th fill! WOW. So far, I have not had an issue with eating any types of foods. I am hoping I can get my portions under a cup and continue on. It has been hard waiting to build up my fill level. Right now I have 2.4 cc's in my band. It's difficult when your restriction level is not good keep up the good fight. I hope to see more posts from you!
  22. Congrats! That is awesome! Glad you are having success.
  23. Ha ha! Glad I was not the only one who weighed more than once. Good job on making it an entire week!
  24. Hey Ashely - how's it going? Haven't seen ya on the food log board. Did you get tired of it? I had a easy breezy surgery too.
