I got on the scale this morning and I am down to the 252 mark again! Sweet! I love the fact that I have structure during the week that brings on the sweet success! I am looking forward to my parents coming to town this weekend! Yay family time! I am hoping they can see the difference in me. When you are big, sometimes it takes a while for people to notice the weight loss. Haven't stashed any food. Still have lingering thoughts about it. Ahh the in's and out's of being addicted to food. I am a work in progress!

Awesome! I love your posts. There are so many positives to this it amazes me. I am amazed, just amazed at certain aspects of the bandster lifestyle. I love the NSV so much!! Woo hoo on the normal size towel!

SEPTEMBER SURGERIES AND FILLS
AngieB replied to Dolittle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I will tell you, I flew in the day before and had my blood work done. The day of surgery they did the rest of the tests. I was the first to have surgery that day. (They banded 7 of us.) I loved being 1st! This is my opinion, so others may have a different take on it, but things in Mexico, are on Mexico time. What I mean is they keep a different schedule. In the US they give you more of an idea of what is going to happen and when. There, they don't have set times. It is more go with the flow. Which if you think about it is kinda like the US. The US just runs late. In Mexico they don't run late, becuase they don't give a set agenda. LOL I am excited for you! My nerves hit when I felt the "stress" of packing. I called a fellow bandster and by the end of the call, I was packed and felt relazed. If you ever want to visit with anyone via phone or txt. I will be happy to volunteer. I have a few bandsters I keep in touch with on a personal level and I love it! -
It is my understanding that coffee is a no no because it is a diuretic. Water intake is a very important part of our healthy lifestyle. Alcohol has a few down falls. First we are advised not to drink out calories. Secondly, the warning is for carbination.

Holly Crap! I went on a eat-a-thon this weekend. I had touched 252.2 and then food hit the fan and I ate all day Sat and Sun like I had nothing to stop me. WOW! I am not going to beat myself up over it, I am moving on. The scale was back at 254.4 this morning. Weekends are harder for me because they are less structured. During the week I feel great......I do great..... Oh, my parents are coming up over labor day. I am already having urges to hid food, so if I need to eat I can eat in secret. I LOVE my momma dearly, but she does stress me out. She has always been critical of me and this is a big issue. So far I have not hid food. I am hoping to make some progress on this "issue." Let's hope I can work hard on current bahaviors to make a difference!

SEPTEMBER SURGERIES AND FILLS
AngieB replied to Dolittle's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi Jessica - Congrats on your band date coming up!!! Woo hoo! I felt the same way when I left for Mexico. At the time my son was 18 mos. I had never been away from him, not even for a night. Talk about mamma strings! LOL Anyway, he and I both did fine and it was a nice break from "motherhood." My momma went with me and I went back to the hotel with her the same day as my surgery. The beds at the Marriott are so awesome! Looking forward to hearing your updates! -
What a great nsv!!! I imagine paying the bill won't be to painful when your smiling for ear to ear! Congrats!

Well the cake I baked on Sunday is about ready for the trash, and there is 1/2 a cake left! Woot! I haven't had to throw away cake for well, I can't even remember how long. Sweet success! I love the changes the band has made in my life this far!

I was in your shoes, it is discouraging. What helped me stay focused and positive was knowing that with each fill I get closer to the level I need to be at. I recently had my 3rd fill. I am fairly satisfied with my restriction level. I am eating smaller portions and staying full for the right amount of time. With each fill, you are giving your body time to adjust to it's new stoma. Even if you don't feel like you are restricted, you are getting there! It won't be long and will be where you want to be. It's a process like anything else. You are doing great! Some of us have to have 3 or more fills before we hit a good level. You and I are from that group! This week the scale is moving. I feel skinner and my boyd is adjusting to fewer calories. Ya-hoo! My zip tie is working and yours will too! Slow and steady win the race!

AngieB replied to Holly's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Testimonials
Now that is something to celebrate! You go girl! Cheers to good health! -
I tired on a pair of jeans today, they have been calling to me from my closet. Size 20! I am nearly there! They are 5 lbs away from looking fabulous! My tummy did a small spare tire. I don't want to look stuffed into my jeans when I set down, so back in the closet they went! Spend some time looking in my closet. I have 2 pairs of size 26's. One brand new never worn, jean capri's, and the other slacks worn after I had my son to go to a wedding. They will find a good home I am sure. Right now I am in a size 22. Glorous 22 I will not miss you! I am ready to go back to my 20's with the knowlege I have now! Life is good! I am becoming healthier and happier with myself. Thank goodness for the lapband. I attempted to eat last night. I love that after 1-3 bites I am done! I get the soft stop that says....take another bit and you will be up for a while in discomfort.

Welcome to the forum Elle! Congrats on being banded!

Slimming took on a entire new meaning once I experienced it for the first time. I read how thick the "spit" was but let me tell ya, I was taken back. Wrapping my head around my head hunger, and the emotions that are involved. When you get something "stuck" and the people around you want you to talk to them. All I can do is swallow and walk. I've had a hard time verbalizing much. I manage to get a few words out, so they won't get to alramed. My husband now understands it is difficult for me to speak and I am really okay. It has to pass. Learning to listen to my body, sensing when I am getting full before the I ate one bit to much and I feel uncomfortable. When eating a favorite food, not being able to eat a big protion before the soft stop comes. (Even after feeling the sign, still wanting to take "just one more bit." Put the fork down! LOL I am not sure if this is along the lines of what you were asking for, but they have been my learning points.

I am a teller. I'll break it down. Before Surgery. I told my immediate family on my side. Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister-in-law, Uncle, and his partner. Each of my close co-workers, which there are four of. My dearest girlfriends, there are 5 of them. My Primary Care Physician. I sent a email full of info and links of websites to each of my family members so they could read and do some simple clicks to get better informed. Some of my family and co-workers and closest friends reacted fearfully for me. After reading the email MOST of them felt better about it. After Surgery My boss, because of the swine flu outbreak. My work was thinking of quarantining me. Other co-workers when it felt right or I was asked. Casual friends People who still don't know. Most of my fathers side of the family. We lost my Aunt to WLS complications in December of 2008 and the pain is very real and fresh for them. I am close to my cousins and do feel that someday I will share the news with them. Not right now. I feel a bit bad keeping it from them. It was very upsetting to my family when my Aunt Doris decided on the WLS and it was a stressful time for her. I am a pretty open person, and by being open I have shared my expierence with strangers and friends. Each of them are having the surgery done. That is pretty neat. I wish you the best in your decision. What is the most important thing to remember is you need to think of your mental health first. If someones upset by you doing this and it will bother you, I would put them to the back burner until you get back. Don't add more stress to yourself. Angie

Crazy thing to do on lunch hour
AngieB replied to stormy's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi Stormy - Looking good! Keep up the fun work out! I love to swim so I recently joined a gym. I love it! Not to mention it gives me some Angie time. I am with Pammie - not sure if I would be so trusting with the "trouble maker." I would be skeptical of her motives..... -
I am pleased to share my newest reality. A little while ago, I made a pan of brownies. We were having company and the brownies where for desert. I had to toss out the last few brownies because they were old!!! Yes, that is right....old. Before the band, nothing got old at our house.....nothing. Over the weekend I made a chocolate cake. I am pleased to say that my husband has eaten more of the cake than I have. Yes! Now, that is another change. Let me confess and share that pre-band, I would have eaten most of the cake. (not to forget to mention, that it would have taken me a 2-3 day time frame to do it in.) Yep, I was that person, the one who was a cake hog. Get your fill now, cuz it will be gone before you go for your second piece of cake. I am so grateful to not have that horrible feeling anymore. YES! I love these victories! Now, when we have the handy dandy Hamburger Helper. We have left overs! Yes, that is right, left overs. I love it! I am tickled pink.

Have you thought about adding some protein powder to your drinks, or buy some drinks with protien in them already. For myself when I drink a special K with protein drink I don't feel as hungry. It would still be clear so you wouldn't be messing up on your post-op. I bought some protein powder, unflavored. My intention was to add it to drinks. I don't really care for it in that fashion though. I can smell it and it doesn't smell good. I do add it to foods though which is nice to have when what your eating doesn't have enough protein in it. Just a thought!~
