  1. I wanted you to know I am thinking of you!

  2. I’ve slowed down on my blog. Here is the latest. I am so happy to have this lap band. Really, I am so happy. My hope for a skinny future is on my mind, and I am working toward a goal. Eating healthier and having portion control is huge for me. Really I thought this in between time would be harder for me, not saying it is not hard. To my surprise I have not stuffed my face uncontrollably or done anything crazy. This fact makes me feel good. I am drinking 60 oz or water a day or more and that is amazing! The food choices I am making are better and that is a success! I have wanted some junk food. Like this morning, I am driving on my way to work and thought, hmmm should I stop for a donut. I did not. I drove right by and had my grilled chicken for breakfast. Yay me! Head hunger is another subject. I have been noticing more my compulsion to eat, even when I am not hungry. Asking myself a few questions has helped like, Are you hungry? Is your stomach growling? I do find myself feeling in a mild panic when my stomach feels hunger. How funny is that? Like hunger is going to hurt me….The mild panic I mention is better described as the urgency to eat. Typing this truth makes me want to laugh at myself for being so silly. I really am a foodie and this will be a struggle for me. I am ready to take the bull by the horns so to speak and do the battle to teach myself all over again. Not really sure how to put my thoughts on the next topic on the page. I’ll do the best I can. I am trying hard not to feel disappointed in my progress. Focusing on the journey as it is and accepting that I have not had a huge success in weight loss. One of my friends has had wonderful success! He has lost 50 lbs! I am thrilled for him, and can only imagine how great that must feel! Me, I have been at a stand still. Without realizing it, I had preconceived expectations that I would loose some pounds on the liquid diet phase. So you can imagine my disappointment when I did not loose much at all. I am setting at 17-20 lbs lost. This includes the 15 lbs I lost for pre-op. Even thought I have the head knowledge that this time is for healing, and the amount of weight I have lost is GREAT! I can not help but feel like – How could I have not done better!? No matter how much I know the weight lost is fantastic, I want to do better. One step at a time, one day at a time. My activity has increased! I am walking over my lunch break and have been out in the yard working too! I love spring and it feels great. I am planning on putting up my son’s pool today! Yay for water fun!
  3. Carrie - this post ROCKS!!! You have the perfect timing too. I was just talking to some ladies at work about how much protein I should be getting in my diet. When I put my weight in one site it told me I had to have low end 80 grams of protein. I am totally new at this but I was thinking how the heck can I do that!? I will not focus on getting more than 60 grams now. That is a relief, big relief. I was thinking if I have 1 cup servings per meal, how was I going to fit more in.....we are suppose to eat 3 meals a day.....anyway, so glad you took the time to type that info.
  4. Welcome to the forum! I have found so much information here!

  5. Awesome weight loss! Looking forward to hearing how your first fill goes!
  6. How's it going? Are you on solids?

  7. Great profile piccy! I am a beginner to the lapband. I checked out the site you posted on protein. I can not even believe how much protien I need to eat everyday! Holy $hit! Protein Recommendations 1. Each Day You Should Take In 95 Grams Of Protein. This breaks down to about 10-12% of total calories. Your body only needs .36 grams of protein per pound of body weight. Whoa! Glad you posted it. I will try to eat that much fricking protien. When I think about it I could just barf! LOL
  8. Ahh benefiber will help with the loose poop!
  9. Hey there! I havent exted you in a while! How's it going?

  10. Mickie! I noticed you visited my page! Yay!

  11. I do think some people have hair loss. I have not lost any. I know there are some bariatric vitmains that are great for us bandsters. I have not taken those, but have taken a liquid multi viatamin since my surgery. I think we bandsters are fortunate because we absorb the good stuff from our food before it moves threw out system. GB patients are not so fortunate. I am glad you are feeling better! You have some time before your surgery so this is a great place to learn and meet some wonderful people.
  12. I came to check the results of the poll again. I appreciate the 6 people who have voted. I plan to vote as soon as I get my 1st fill. I found it interesting that the most votes are at the 8 week marker. I have my fill scheduled for 6 weeks. I am hopefull that everything will be healed nicely by then. The other board I read on has most of there patients filling at the 4 week mark. Depending on the size of the band, some have fills in at the time of surgery! Amazing. I will wait, and keep my apt. I think it is a good time for me anyway.
  13. I have been banded! Need I say anything more? This is the greatest gift. It could be considereda life time of gifts! The gift that keeps on giving! I got it! I am on the final phase of my post-op diet! Thank goodness! I am staying steady at the weight I had my surgery. I may vary a lbs/kg or two, but not much. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
  14. Ute - Now that is very polite! I have not PB'd since I am newly banded. I am still on the 21 days of liquids. So I can only imagine how it must feel, from everything I have read it seems like a horrible experience. I can imagine myself wanting to run for the bathroom!
  15. Welcome to the forum!

  16. LadyT - Let me say you are in the right place if you are looking for support! This is a awesome board and the members here are great. I researched this subject, and found many comforts along the way. Like for instance. Dr. Ortiz has not lost one patient. Not one. He and his staff have done over 6500 lap band procedures. Dr. Ortiz is the best lap band surgeon in the world. He does this procedure day after day and has seen many different scenarios. You are in very capable hands! Any questions or concerns you have at any time, call your coordinator, ask them here. You will get answers and support. As far as anastasia, I can tell you they use advanced anestasia. You go out and wake up very quickly. I was up and walking within the first hour after my surgery. That is pretty awesome!
  17. I think having a case of the gitters is normal. Mine hit the weekend before my surgery. Although as soon as I picked up the phone and talked to a fellow bandster, I was a-ok. I think what I was most nervous about was getting packed. I know that sounds lame. As soon as I knew everything was in some sort of order, I was as cool as cool could be. What's making you the most nervous?
  18. Let's talk about poop. Being the mom of a baby or toddler has brought a new subject to my conversation. Poop! The first phase of the liquid diet I noticed my bowel movements to be "loose." Then I would go a day inbetween movement. Which felt stange. I have been a once a day pooper for a long while, sometimes twice. I know TMI but I have found lots of bandsters are superised at the lack of poo. I was! The first good poo came the second week of the liquid diet. I was pleasantly suprised! Oh! The poo has returned! Even told my husband! Yay! I pooed! Like he was thrilled to hear that news....poor man! Hey, he married me! LOL I know I am pooping a lot less. I would be better to take my benefiber but I don't it slips my mind.
  19. JazzyJude, Smiley, and LisaLaw - I am a newly banded person. Since being banded and sharing with those who ask. I know of 2 people who are having this surgery done, simply because they found out there was a way to win the battle from me. How awesome is that!! I am not ashamed or embarrassed of what I am doing, I feel proud and comfortable with this life change. I don't mind being a living testimony. I love fat people, I am one! Sorry if that sounds horrible to say, but the point is I see the person in every fat person. I'd love it if my father would have this surgery. If I was wealthy I would pay for him to have it if he would. I pray for a win fall so that may be possible. He has several health issues and this would be so good for him. What is that saying, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.
  20. I am glad you are okay from the first inital post. Good thing we are able to share and help each other. My friend had her band slip. She was not expecting emergency surgery to remove it, but had to have it remove. (Her slip was from being to tight for to long.) She cried when they told her her band had to be removed and would rather have died than live with out her band. Since, she has had it replaced and is very careful. No fills that are not done under floro for her ever again. Matter of fact she only goes to OCC now for everyone one of them. I am so glad to read peoples experiences. Although I tend to be a hard learner. I hope having a band slip is not one of those lessons. Once it is to late, it's to late. Better to be proactive than sorry. Glad you are off to get adjusted! Good for you!
  21. I know right!!!! I was talking to a gal about the whole pulling the offer topic. (She is an co-manager of KFC.) Both my husband and I got a chuckle out of what she said. It was such a shock to KFC that over 50% of there buisness was people redeming the coupons, and that pulling the campaign had little to do with Oprah being involved. First let me point out that we are in a recession, it's a great "meal" offer and Oprah does have something to do with the success of the stampede. Stating these facts seem obvious to me, however after the conversation we had with this employee I became aware that maybe these facts are not so obvious to the general public?! As my husband and I were a safe distance away, we both laughed.......maybe she was not a big fan of Oprah! LOL
  22. How awesome, and congradulations! I am excited for you!
  23. Hi! Welcome to the forum! Great profile picture!

  24. Good to hear you are both well! I am on the last leg of my 3 weeks of liquids. I am looking forward to being done. It's been difficult to cook for my family. I think that is the hardest part of the liquid phase. I try to leave and do other things when they eat.
