  1. Bill - excellent post! I like your outlook and honesty. It's nice to know that you have had great success and lived life. I am going to be banded in a few weeks and feel ready! Now, I have to let the process play out. Looking forward to joining you in weight loss with the band.
  2. Happy Birthday!

  3. Hi Lindsay! I've been wondering how "things" are going!?

  4. Glad to hear the violence is not as bad as it sounds on the news. My mom and I will be down in TJ at the end of the month for my surgery. Yippee! Hope you have a speedy recovery!

    Pre-op Diet

I am in the pre-op diet phase. Yippie, that means soon I will be getting my band. Lately there have been a few posts on the forum about the pain newly banded people are in. It leaves me hoping I took off enough time for recovery. From everything I have read, I should be okay. I am hopeful I will be the "bounce back kid." I really hope that I can manage my pain well, as I have a son to come home to and care for. The pre-op diet is going pretty good. I have very good success while I am at work. It is when I am home over the weekends that are a bit more difficult. The weather is warming up, so that will make it easier for us to get out and do things. I am planning on going to the zoo this weekend, so that will take my focus off food. I am really looking forward to breaking the foody cycle. Or at least having more managability over what I eat and how much. I am down a few pounds! So that is awesome!
  7. =D> Excellent news! I am a double d. I normally loose my boobies when I slim down, which is a-okay with me. I am hoping my skin has some bounce back in it! Otherwise I will be needing a lift. It's nice to not be all chest! Hope you continue to loose in all the right places!
  8. Lisa - I wanted to say you look great and I enjoy reading your posts. You are honest in the kindest way, even when it's not easy to speak the truth! Good for you! Glad you are a member of this forum.

  9. Hi Sandra! I am looking forward to our band journey! Here is hoping we are the bounce back kids!

  10. I have been doing my research, so to speak as to what steps I need to take to make a smooth transition. I have found a great Dr., who is 4 blocks away from my work! Does that ROCK or what!!! Her patients sing her praise and she does take on patients from Mexico. That was one of my first questions. Talking with Shelby helped me to understand what I needed to find out! I feel blessed! I will be saving time and money. Not to forget, having a safty net if something doesn't go 100% perfect.
  11. That sounds like a great plan. I enjoy road trips, and think you will too! Escpecially given the fact that it will save you a large amount of money, time, and level of comfort! Let us know what you think about your expierence!
  12. Great suggestion. I will talk to Jim about the buzzer thing ma bops as soon as I log off of here. Eating at night sadly enough is not because I am hungry. To be honest, I don't know what motives me to do it? It is difficult to break the cycle. I have done it for long periods, then one time of eating and bam I am back at it again. If I could wake up more, I believe this would help. I am able to make good decisions when I am alert. I appreciate your input!
  13. I am doing Diet #2. I do great during the day. Don't feel hunger pangs at all. When I get home, I do feel a bit more hunger. I eat a small and sensable meal. I do have one hang up, ever since I was a small girl I would get up and eat durign the night. I today is day 4, and I have eaten 2 nights. I feel very down hearted about it and have made plans to wake my husband when I get up to help put a safe guard in place. Given the importance of this, and what it means I want to walk the line and do right by the instructions. I think my major hang up at night is I am not awake all the way, which makes it hard to have reason. So far I am down 4 lbs. Yay! What diet are you following? Where are you getting hung up. Is it mental or more physical hunger?
  14. I have yet to be "banded" however, I have been checking into a closer option as well. I found a physician right up the way from me who performs the lab band surgery. I am planning on scheduling an apt for an initial consiltation before I leave to get my lap band. The 1st apt will cost $250. After that,it will be $100 a visit. Which is significantly more affordable for me, and in the same city! No travel, no time off work! Have you checked into doctors in your area? This was a total score for me! Looking forward to see what you get figured out! Angie
  15. Evette! You look great! I like your before and right now picture. The confidence is amazing between the two!
  16. That is awesome! Woo hoo! Congrats! Way to go! =D> =D> =D> =D>
  17. You didn't have to follow a post op diet? Do you mind telling me more? (I am fulling intending on sticking to the post-op, but curious as to what your situation was.
  18. It never dawned on me to chew and spit if I was in a foody moment. I am glad you mentioned that because if I get in a spot, I could do this with out stretching out my new pouch, or cheating. Thanks for you reply.
  19. I really appreciate your reply. It's great that you are going doing it right now! Awesome! I was curious how hard it would be. I will let you know how I am doing for sure! I am enjoying this board and look forward to being a more active member. For right now, I am reading, asking question. I don't have to much to offer because I am in the early/begining stages. I am on day two of my pre-op diet! So far so good, I have my main problem in the middle of the night. I wake up and eat. Nice, huh. That will be my biggest battle in the pre-op phase.
  20. Please feel free to discribe what was a breeze and what was the hardest time to get through. I have not been banded yet. Interested in seeing if there is a common theme or if everyone is different.
  21. Hi Dan! Leaving a not so you know I was visiting! I came to see if you are "blogging." I am writing ramblings down. Wanted to have an account of events.

  22. Well, turns out the loan officer had the debt to income ratio wrong. So the loan went through! I have scheduled my surgery and booked airline tickets. My mom has decide to come along with me. I love my mom for that. (Although I really to believe I will be just fine solo.) What's new! I got the book Lab Band for Life! So now I am wanting to read it! Booked airline tickets for mom and I! Sent my deposit yesterday. Sent my flight detail. Confirmed hotel reservations at the Marriott. Started my pre-op diet yesterday!~ Pre-op diet. I did fairly good yesterday. I had my shake for breakfast, and lunch. Ate a "normal" dinner. By normal I mean not pre-op diet normal. That didn't make me feel very sucessful. The good news is I fought the urge to get up and eat in the middle of the night. That is a victory! Yay! So I am taking the good with the bad. I realize how important this is, the pre-op diet and the first 21 days after the surgery. Doesn't mean I don't have to fight to do my best. Progress! I have to say I am not a fan of "drinking" my meals. I've not ever done the slim fast diet. So this is an adjustment in it's self. I figure a month and a half of liquids will not hurt me one bit. I can do this! Nothing tastes as good as thin feels! I am a cheater by nature. So, I need to be accountable. To close this entry, I have a buddy! Dan and I are getting banded days apart, so we are going to support each other. He is very nice and I hope we get along well as we build a friendship!
  23. I would like to get a feel for how much H2O people drink. I drink at least 5-6-8 oz glasses of water a day. I squeeze fresh lemon in my water for a refreshing taste. I am doing better about my caffine free diet coke drinker/addict. I am limiting myself to 1-2 a day. Some may think that is not "limiting" but I assure you this is limiting for me. I find that I do really good drinking water if I start my day with water. If I start if with a C.F. Diet Coke, it hoses my water intake for the day. Please share your beverage intake and any tips you have. Thanks for answering the poll questions in advance!
  24. Hi Sabrina! I am amazed that no one has said anything to you. Normally it takes at least 20 lbs for me before people begin making comments, so that is strange. However, it does say something about your mad dressing skills! Girl you must be great at complimenting your shape! You do look great, and to me you do look like a skinny chickky! The truth is we do care about what others think. We may be doing this for us but it is nice to get the compliments that keep us going. Not that we need cheer leaders but hey! Encouragement does help! You look fabulous darling, just fabulous! Keep it up! Like someones siggy on here says on here nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!
  25. Hi Beatuyqueen, and welcome to this forum! I have been kicking around weight loss surgery for 6 years. Long time, I know. Yes, my Aunt had GB. She wanted to get the lap band, but her Dr. would not approve the procedure for her. She passed away on the 3rd day after having the GB done. It is still a very shocking subject. I understand where you are at, and I am so sorry you are alone in the process right now. I thought long and hard about telling my family. In the end, I have to do what is best for me. I do not plan on telling my cousins about it until much much later. It's to hard on them and they have already lost so much. Much like you, I am not a stranger to hard work, 5 years ago, I lost 100lbs. Strickly diet and excersise. My life and life style are so much different now, I have a husband and a infant/toddler now and am not able to donate or pay as much attention to myself as I once did. It takes a lot ot work and determination, which I still have, but now my resources are spread thin. I am using this lap band as a tool. A stop tool for me to re-train myself how to eat, and more importantly stop eating once I am full. I want you to know, you are not alone in your journey to weight loss. I am here for you and will be happy to share your journey! Blessings to you, and I hope when you go to get more information, all your questions and concerns will be answered; and you get the information you need to make a decision! Let's keep in touch! Angie
