  1. I'm the only female where I work, and these guys are persistent on going out for pizza or a burger. I tell them I'm lactose, or I'm cutting out meat from my food intake, or bread... pretty much anything I know is gonna get stuck. They eventually caught on when they noticed the weight loss and are really happy for me. I don't tell them I'm on a diet because I might want to have a little sweet treat once in a while, and I can't stand when people tell me.."I thought you were on a diet, should you be eating that?" It's annoying. I also tell them I'm doing "portion control" which is pretty much true. I also try to pack my lunch every day so they know I'm not ordering out. They eventually learn to respect my food decisions. I never told them I got banded, and it's not really their business to know.
  2. i was able to walk and move around fine within days.. the only setback is that you can't lift more than 15 lbs and it the scars were still tender so it hurt to bend a little. you should probably talk to your HR department or call the OCC for a "doctor's note"
  3. haven't heard from you. Update! I hope you're doing well

  4. Good luck you're probably on your way right now... Congratz on taking this first step to a new you. YEY!

  5. to be honest with you. I would avoid rice. I had a terrible experience with 1 bite of sushi (chewed very well) Also, I think we all went through this phase, you learn how to eat with restriction and what works for you and what doesnt.
  6. this one really made me "LOL" "I cannot believe someone could be so stupid as to actually go to Tijuana for surgery. I was uncomfortable just drinking a margarita there" -stupidity! and you're right! you have to do research on your doctor. it has nothing to do with getting surgery in Mexico, it could happen anywhere. it happens in the US for pete's sake! I can honestly say that the OCC is much nicer than any hospital i've been to here in the US, and I love how all my silly questions are answered when i do give them a call. Before i got my surgery, I called every other day with questions and they never went unanswered. I asked questions and did my research and wouldn't change it for the world. I am also very lucky to be able to get my fills at the OCC because I would not have it any other way.
  7. yeah this happened to me too. just chew a lot slower. and stay away from pasta & bread. but if you get to the point where you can't eat more than 3 bites, check with the OCC. you be too tight. I got to 8ccs on my 3rd fill so i got to my restriction point alot slower than that. good luck
  8. I'm happy for you, but im also jealous! (in a good way) guys lose weight SO FAST! lol my bf has been losing weight and all he did was stopped eating red meat (because i don't cook it anymore) But all joking aside... GREAT JOB. this just keeps me more motivated. KEEP US UPDATED
  9. well your port is still healing, i felt that pain too. i posted something similar a few months back. but you should still call the OCC and tell them how you feel
  10. i felt restriction probably the first day of my fill... then did the 3 day mushy diet, THEN my restriction was gone. But i believe you have to build on it. I have 8cc's now and that was until my 3rd fill that i actually felt restriction. But everyone is different. I've read people feel restriction with no fill at all.
  11. I agree with lindsay in a way... i think my post was just based on my emotions and my personal experience. i just realized that you are "vomiting" ... i usually get up and excuse myself from the table when i feel stuck or think i have to PB. which i assume is normal, but it happens about once or twice during a meal i did not prepare. i have never really thrown up a whole meal.
  12. Wow... I'm sorry to say it but, he does not deserve you! He sounds like my manipulative x-bf. I dumped him before I even told anyone about getting banded but he sounds like something he would say. He is very wrong! I have a very loving and supportive bf. He worries when I get stuck and "pb" ... He even covers for me when people ask if something is wrong. The funny thing is... When I dumped my x... He said "goodluck finding someone that's gonna take you as fat as you are" LOL yet he was the bulimic one and completely insecure... I actually am glad he wished me luck, because about 2 months later I hit the jackpot and found the love of my life! Just brace yourself... A goodone is coming along! Tell that guy to "kick rocks!"
  13. do you like zucchini? if you do, remind me to give you a really good soup recipe for your post op stage, you should try practicing drinking 30-45 mins after you eat so it wont be so hard when you're already banded.
  14. i don't care if i weigh 200 lbs and can fit in a size 4. but can someone explain to me how i'm losing inches off my waist and not really losing weight.. i've gotten down to 198 ... and lost 4 inches off my waist. im super excited about that and it's kept me going to the gym even on the weekends. i wrap my stomach with plastic wrap and rip it off after im done with cardio. my stomach looks alot less bloated but the scale isnt showing me any progress. can someone explain what is going on here. i contemplated the idea of maybe im gaining muscle...just wanted a second opinion. thanx.
  15. what's up with your status? i hope no one important said that to you... just know that you're doing a good thing about yourself, people like that don't matter and karma will get them. keep smiling

  16. What these two ladies said is very true. I think you should really adjust to the fill amount you have now. I am at my 3rd fill and the only reason i got my 3rd fill was because i felt NOTHING, no sticking NADA. like i had no fills. So i have my 3rd fill and i get stuck sometimes when i don't chew enough.. but when i do chew sufficiently, i feel good and satisfied after eating. don't rush
  17. HE IS A CUTIE!! i didnt think he was chubby at all! well at least not by my standards.. my bf is chubby.. and i love it,lol... chubby chaser..LMAO
  18. it's safe as long as you don't do anything foolish and like wander off on your own. just remember if you ask random people on the street for directions or whatever... they are very helpful, but they usually do it for a tip. one guy actually thought i was going to let him get in my car and take to the street i was looking for, but, i told no, and gave him a peso. i was with my bf and he's a big dude so i was ok, so it was kinda funny.
  19. oh don't be nervous!! it's just a HUUUGE needle. LOL just kidding.. once you get past the first pinch it's no sweat... well the only annoying part was sitting there in front of two guys (my bf and Dr. SO) with my shirt pulled up exposing my worst physical attribute (my gut)... other than that.... it was great! lol
  20. love the story... i don't know about the scar situation. mine are light pink right now. so i'm curious to find out what replies you get. i don't care much about wearing a two piece anymore... i got really ugly stretch marks on my tummy this time i gained weight. but i would like to if my marks fade. i heard bio oil really worked for some people...if i may add. not from a personal experience tho.
  21. how are you and your 3rd fill doing?? :)

  22. you know what! i forgot about espresso! i usually have a cup of regular drip. i should really just have my espresso with a little cream and get it over with..
