  1. The link above to the video for the WLS Las Vegas Meet & Greet is my inspiration for a possible OCC Meet & Greet. How cool would that be? We could all meet each other in-person and maybe even "flesh out" the whole webinar thing with a 2 day seminar on different topics and issues directly related to us, the OCC and banding issues/concerns. I think it would be really fab to have a diverse panel of speakers and experts not only from the OCC but maybe also from Cosmed and the like...maybe even free private consultations for attendees? Another idea is (did someone say SWAG?) maybe the OCC can line up a bunch of band friendly product sponsors (like Pepsi-Cola Mexicana's BeLight). Couture donations, fashion show, games, door prizes, drawings, spa packages, drinking, dancing, more drinking...you get the idea. I am going to go ahead and email the idea to the OCC staff and get their take on it. It would be fun and could be economical too if we could get a group rate on air-fare and hotel stay. Anyway, just my random, rambling idea for the day. If anyone want to take this baton and run with it be my guest!

  4. That is a great question and I am glad you asked it. My surgery BMI classified me as obese. I have struggled with weight all my life and have been unsuccessful in loosing it & maintaining weight loss with "traditional" methods. I decided to get the band as another tool in my arsenal so I could achieve and maintain optimal weight loss for good. Since I did not have 75 - 100 pounds to loose I thought the band was the best option for me rather then gastric bypass or the gastric sleeve as the band is the least invasive with lower levels of complications during and after surgery. I weighed about 185 at surgery and I am 5" 2.5 inches tall. I should weigh about 120 -125 pounds so technically I am a little over the 40 - 50 pounds you mentioned. I have a total of 65 pounds to loose. So far I have lost 17 pounds with excercise and Weight Watchers, hopefully when I get restriction the band will help me loose the additional 48 pounds.
  5. I have mentioned in other posts that I wish, I wish, I wish that i would have had a tummy support to wear under my garments post-surgery since I felt like a bowl of jello and it hurt when my clothing touched my incisions. I found these 2 things through Avon that look like they would work great for post surgery patients and they would pack so nicely in a suit case. http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.aspx?src_page=product_list.aspx&level1_id=300&level2_id=308&pdept_id=481&dept_id=&pf_id=36913 http://shop.avon.com/shop/product.aspx?src_page=product_list.aspx&level1_id=300&level2_id=308&pdept_id=481&dept_id=&pf_id=38451
  6. 18 pounds is a good amount before your first fill. You are doing fine. Do not get discouraged. The slower it comes off the less you will need to worry about gaining some back and about loose, saggy skin.

  7. Congrats that you are doing well and it is over with. I heard the heatburn goes away in 6 months. As for me I was one of the lucky ones cured of heartburn and farting a-la the band! They say if you were a burper or suffered from heatburn preband it is cured but if not then after being banded you get it. I was a farting, heartburn, non-burping person. Now I burp like a druken sailor!

  8. Welcome to my world Going for my 4th fill at the OCC in a few weeks.
  9. yah, mine not working either...on hold via telephone

  11. STORM 2/25/10 Surgery weight- 178 3/4/10- 169 and HUNGRY Okay...here is my take on what is going on w/ hubby. You are a low BMIer to begin with I think. I am not sure how tall you are but a starting weight of 178 is great. I have a feeling your husband thought you looked great to begin with and cannot justify the financial aspect of it in terms of your physical appearence to begin with. In general, the men that know that I have had the surgery all had the same response: "You don't need it. Your not fat, just work out and eat healthy." This includes the teller at my bank. Maybe your husband is looking at you thinking the same thing. Like Dr. Ortiz says "Men are Simple." I also live in Southern California and took the train down for my surgery. We are about the same weight now too. You have already lost 9 pounds and that is phenomenal!!! it took me like 3 weeks to loose 9 pounds! You are doing great and PM me if you want some tips and tricks. Maybe we can get together soon and I can be your personal shoper
  12. Judging from your new avatar, your not too shabby yourself ;)

  13. You are not alone. I know what it is like to have an unsopprotive partner. We are all here for you.

  14. Congrats!! You are doing great! The fact that you are able to maintain and track 1000 calories a day right now explains the temporary plateau AND why you are not gaining some of the weight back! That is huge and you deserve to treat yourself to a mani/pedi! Trust me, the same thing happened to me when I went back to solids and calorie tracking (although my intake was 1200 per day) is what saved me from gaining. Keep up the good work and only weigh once a week and you should notice a lose of 1-2 pounds per week as long as your track your intake and stick to it. Kick the excercise up a notch to 30 minutes per day and you are good to go.
  15. Congrats on hiting "Onederland!" I know that you are kind of bummed about the 2 pounds but you passed a huge milestone for most!

  16. My brain is fried too. I worked a 10 hour day myself today and I've got my mind on the hundreds of independently owned theatres on mind that consume me mon-fri so I know what you mean. I can try to send you some info this weekend.

  18. 168 this week, down 1.2 or 1.3 from last week.
  19. I know what you mean...btw the lemon ones are 170 for 3 of them (I am ashamed that I know that...LOL). I have decided that when the band kicks in I am going to stay on WW and switch to the "Core" plan and use the "filling foods" list. I LOVE WW so much...I am like a WW junkie!

  20. Great point Kim! When I was attending the WW meetings before becoming an on-line member I would stop by Robecks afterwards on Sunday mornings and treat myself to the 16 ounce peach smoothie w/ a boost for 170 calories. I LOVE how Robecks has the nutritional value of all their smoothies right by the counter. Whether you buy your smoothies from a chain, bottled or make them yourself there are so many low calorie alternative out there to choose from. Just be aware and start reading lables for peice of mind. Oh! Also pay attention to serving size as many bottled smoothies may have more then one serving.
