Kristi, I just could kiss you right now! My self-esteem really needed this post right NOW. I beat myself up for that number not going anywhere for the last 28 days and I know my clothes are so much looser and when I look in the mirror I see the inches coming off but for me the number not changing is so dicouraging.

Okay, so here is the deal: Fat Free Cottage Cheese as a sub for mayo is WONDERFULLY DELICIOUS! Second, Both my mom and I have found that by adjusting the temp up from 350 degrees to 375 degrees is ideal as the crust is more firm and not as mushy and it cooks the ingrediants better in the alotted 30 minutes. At 350 degree we both found that we were leaving the pie in the over for at least another 10 minutes just to get the cheese to melt. I also have found that seasoning the cheese mixture with a tablespoon of basil & parsley alsong with pepper is perfect. Just a touch of oregano is fine too but be careful with the oregano as too much will leave an after-taste.

Fill's @ OCC or someplace else....
bogiesmom replied to JaniceBlack's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I just booked my third fill at the OCC for 2/15/2010 and this is going to be my 3rd fill in 3 months. I was told by the OCC fill doctors that a person should only need 2 - 3 fills in their lifetime. I have a gut feeling that I am going to end up needing 4 fills. It seems as though the OCC fills are a bit on the conservative side in my case OR that the larger band just requires more fills. I can understand why those who go to the OCC for fills may end up requiring less than those who go elsewhere since the fills are done very carefully under Fluero. It does not seem that there is a lot of room for error but I can only speak from my own experience and that is just based on 2 fills at the OCC thus far and both of them were only 3cc. I am happy over all with my fills at the OCC. I have a giagantor band what can I say. I am grateful that I have NOT been over filled and most likely will never be overfilled as long as I keep going to the OCC for my fills and I am grateful that I am able to book my fills every month. I heard on another board that people who have had the band with insurance are actually finding it VERY difficult to book their fills with their doctors less that 2 months apart and that when they do get their fills it is often for a smaller amount then what they need and then they have to fight tooth and nail to get another fill appointment 2 months out! So even though I am a little disappointed and I would like restriction with minimal fills, I will take the situation I am in any day over being in the situation where I do not have the opertunity for fills once a month and the possibility of either being way under-filled or over-filled and having to wait a long time before getting it fixed. -

I stayed at the Mariott and I wish I would have stayed at the Lucerna instead. It is a lot closer to the OCC AND it looked a lot more upscale boutique-ish and not so cookie cutter corporate as the Marriott. The one good thing I can say about the Mariott was the bar was nice. I was also told that out of the 3, the Camino Real is most comparable to the W in the US for those who want super posh, upscale. The Camino Real is closest to the OCC. On this rare occassion I must disagree with Angie. The pillows at the Marriott were super soft but the bed was extra hard. I did not sleep well under sober circumstances. The night of surgery I did manage to sleep better but that was becuase I was drunk out of my mind.

Sounds good to me: Coffee filters.... Who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the Dollar Tree or the 99 Cent Store for almost nothing even the large ones. 1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers. 2. Clean windows, mirrors, and chrome... Coffee filters are lint-free so they'll leave windows sparkling. 3. Protect China by separating your good dishes with a coffee filter between each dish. 4. Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter. 5. Protect a cast-iron skillet. Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust. 6. Apply shoe polish. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter. 7. Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter. 8. Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale. 9.. Hold tacos. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods. 10. Stop the soil from leaking out of a plant pot. Line a plant pot with a coffee filter to prevent the soil from going through the drainage holes. 11. Prevent a Popsicle from dripping. Poke one or two holes as needed in a coffee filter. 12. Do you think we used expensive strips to wax eyebrows? Use strips of coffee filters.. 13. Put a few in a plate and put your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them.. It soaks out all the grease. Or use to drain tomatoes for the infamous Tomato Pie! 14. Keep in the bathroom.. They make great "razor nick fixers." 15. As a sewing backing. Use a filter as an easy-to-tear backing for embroidering or appliquéing soft fabrics. 16. Put baking soda into a coffee filter and insert into shoes or a closet to absorb or prevent odors. 17. Use them to strain soup stock and to tie fresh herbs in to put in soups and stews. 18. Use a coffee filter to prevent spilling when you add fluids to your car. 19. Use them as a spoon rest while cooking and clean up small counter spills. 20. Can use to hold dry ingredients when baking or when cutting a piece of fruit or veggies. Saves on having extra bowls to wash. 21. Use them to wrap Christmas ornaments for storage. 22. Use them to remove fingernail polish when out of cotton balls. 23. Use them to sprout seeds. Simply dampen the coffee filter, place seeds inside, fold it and place it into a plastic baggie until they sprout. 24. Use coffee filters as blotting paper for pressed flowers. Place the flowers between two coffee filters and put the coffee filters in phone book.. 25. Use as a disposable "snack bowl" for popcorn, chips, etc. OH YES, THEY' RE GREAT TO USE IN YOUR COFFEE MAKERS TOO. If you can think of any more uses for filters please share!

Nope, salads are just fine for me but that could be due to lack of restiction thus far. Yes the Jimmy Dean D-Lights are wonderful and they are in the freezer section at the market. They are in either a box of 4 or 6.

Strained soup same as broth?
bogiesmom replied to stephj03's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
You are being VERY careful arent you? Yes, by all means strained soup counts as broth. You do NOT need to add water though. Simply put a smal slit in the top of the ready to serve canned soup with a can opener and empty the liquid in a bowl or mug and throw the rest away. I did this with Progresso Chicken Noodle and to be honest in tasted better without all the chunks in it. You know, my taste buds did a 180 during this phase and I too had NO desire for creamy soups. They tasted yucky for some reason. However, I loved the drinkable yogurts AND Kefir Drinks by Lifeway both of which are loaded in protein. I do not think you could stick to that regimen for 21 days. In all honesty you ARE going to get bored. You need to experiment and have fun trying different liquids that you have never tried before and keep things INTERESTING. Spice it up! Go to different grocery stores and make it your challenge to find liquids that are different OR come up with some concoctions in your own kitchen. Go to a Japanesse or Korean Market, look up soup recipes on line, go out to a restraunt and order Miso Soup, Wonton Soup, or even Matza Ball Soup and only drink the broth. I REALLY liked Indian Lentil Soup that I found at Whole Foods in the International section. It was NON Chunky and LOADED in protein. Thick is fine, chunky is not. The rule of thumb is you should be able to drink it through a straw (milkshake consistancy is fine). Now that I think about it a Strawberry Milkshake from McDonald's during this phase would have been wonderful!! The thought never crossed my mind at the time. Even a Protein Smoothie from Jamba Juice OR Robeck's would have been PERFECT!!! As you may know, they can add a whopping scoop of protein powder to your smoothie and they even sell the powder by the canister for you to take home! Sorry to sound like Dr. Ruth, but if you have the kind of relationship with food that I do (that sounds weird...I do not mean food in the bed room people) you need to think outside of the box, spice things up, keep it interesting and ALWAYS find a way to try new and different things like an adventure. -
My first meal was Split Pea Soup from Whole Foods! Ironic inst it? I went to Whole Foods to grab a pre-packaged 10 ounce Greek Salad as my first meal from the deli section and would'nt you know it, they were sold out! So I settled for the Split Pea and it was devine and totally satisfying. I would go with Fish and Salad for lunch and for breakfast do eggs if you have breakfast at home. I am a late riser so I always to breakfast at work. If you do breakfast at work I would go with a Jimmy Dean D-Light Egg & Sausage Muffin that you can pop in the microwave for a few minutes OR a Fiber One Toaster Pastry that you can pop in the toaster.
