  1. Hi Everyone, I had to post a food log today for 2 reasons: 1. I have stopped using WW and started using thedailyplate.com for tracking b/c it is free and is a better site then WW in my opinion so I thought it was a good way to save some cash as well. 2. I was a bad girl for dinner with an unexpected suprise! I EXPERIENCED A TRUE RESTRICTION EPISODE FOLLOWED BY PB!!! WOW! And at night time too as oppossed to the morning (Please let this be a dream come true)! That was quite a trip and totally cool and awesome to experience that for the first time. I am amazed at the human body. When Dr. So said "It can take up to 2 weeks for the restriction" I was like, "yah, right, whatever if I can't feel it after 3 days forget it it is not happening." Today is exactly day 14 since the fill so I guess my body is just slow to adjust. I know the band is a fickle thing though and that my restriction can vary from meal to meal so I am not going to get my hopes up. My first signal was tightness in the chest like I have never felt before followed by back pains that felt like back labor pains, then came the urge to dry hieve fallowed by spit then came this strange gurgling sound that came up my esophogus and out my mouth (4 times!) then came a runny nose and the finale was manly burps. Quite a production over a Mc'Donalds Cheeseburger and fries. Gave the rest of the fries to Bogie and am calling it a night. Breakfast Nescafe Classic Instant Coffee 0 cal. Tsp White Sugar 35 Cal. International Delight Vanilla Spice Rum Creamer 45 cal. Lunch Kraft Bagel-Ful Whole Grain Plain 180 cal. Snack 20 ounces Vitamin Water 10 Peach Manderin 25 cal. 2. Hi Red, according to the "banding Rules" & Dr. So at the OCC you are suppossed to eat things in groups. Dr. So said first protein, then vegetables & fruit & lastly carbs. So it sounds like your husbands theory could be the key solution.
  3. Hi Red, This is the first post that I have read of yours and I am glad I came across it. It turns out that we both have the same band and that we are about the same surgery weight too. I have not embraced my band yet or "LOVE" it like others do. I frankly am doubting it with every passing day and reading you post has given me inspiration and hope (along with Debbies' posts) that it is just a matter of time that I get to the same level of restriction as you and hopefully with the same results. Thank you very much for lifting my spirits.
  4. You should have it in case you are audited by the IRS. I expect my chances are 50/50 so I wanted to have one ready just in case.

  6. The law is on his side unfortunately since he has "established residency" with me, which means I may have to hire an attorney to start the eviction process and or get a restraining order served on him and I do not have the money for that either. I could try to do it myself but that means taking time off work (not an option).

  7. No thank GOD. Car is fine and there was no damages to propery or injuries. That was a blessing. BUT I still have to pay to get the car out of inpound due to DUI AND get that car out of my name asap by paying it off. The soon to be exboyfriend is in jail and on his way out of my life BUT it will not be easy since he is reluctant to leave me alone. This is going to get very expensive very fast.

  8. You sort of disappeared...how are you?

  9. Unhappy about not waiting a few months before being banded. I think it was a little hastey on my part and I should have insisted on a later surgery date. I am not regretful of being banded yet since there is really nothing to regret yet since I am still wating for restriction. I think waiting another 5 months would have been best for me financially. For me, I think I sort of rushed into it and if I would have waited 5 months I would have had the time to save some additional money for the band and any unexpected emergencies that popped up recently. So I guess in a nut shell the buyers remorse comes from being financially strained and no restriction to show for it as of yet. Sounds so common sense but I just wanted to let this person know it is something they should at least take into consideration. There is nothing wrong with waiting to save up additional money if you are self pay.
  10. TOM ... Gained 1.8 pounds this week. Could be stress related too I suspect.
  11. The LAPD thing and the buyers remorse are related in a way. Since I have spent my savings on the band I was not prepaired for the financial fallout that happened Christmas Eve with the LAPD. I have to come up with $1366.50 to get my car out of inpound and another $5000 to pay off the car loan. Car is registered to me but boyfriend was driving it/paying it. Bad, bad, bad

  12. What flavor of Crystal Light do you recommend for the vodka?

  13. Yep, I am in the same boat as you. Found out after my initial consultation for the band that my insurance policy with my employer specifically resticts WLS from the policy and does not include a rider. So I elected to save time and money by having the surgery at the OCC. I saved approximately 57% of the purchase price by doing so. If you do elect to switch the only type of insurance that I think would even consider covering WLS is a PPO. If your employer offers a PPO then you should have access to policy information or a customer service number where you can call and ask about WLS coverage with your employer's plan. Like Shelby mentioned, I self paid via 3 way...1/3 savings from a serverance package, 1/3 loan from 401K, and 1/3 savings bond that I cashed in. At first I did not think I could get the money together and applied for a health care line of credit (that was quickly denied thank goodness) and then I started thinking about pooling money together from different sources. Of course now I have zero savings and that hurts a bit, but if I can hang in there for a few months I will be okay. That's the thing about self pay...buyers remorse big time

  15. Oh, BTW, congrats on your pre-op weight loss. You are doing fantastic! Just stick an IV in my arm and load me up with some of those young hormones you have to share ;) Ahhh...to be young again. You are in your prime, be sure to enjoy every minute of it. Perfect time to be banded & everything will be so much easier for you ;)

  16. Thanks Kayla, I need all the prayers I can get to stay strong during this rough patch. Things will work out fine I just have to hold my ground and be strong.

  17. Yep, he was a salesman. I noticed that the doctors in the US are getting really agressive in terms of pushing the band (if you call their office to ask questions the want to book you for a consultation or seminar right away, if you email their office they call you back within the hour, etc.). I noticed that the advertising for it has also quadrupled over the last 6 months. The doctor I initially had my consult with was a smooth talker who had his pitch down BUT I came prepared with questions that he was more than willing to answer until I was comfortable with the answers. So in the end it did not bother me that he was trying to sell me something because he was completely honest and answered all my questions with clarity and insight. They are all sales people so USE IT to your benefit. If you do not use them they will use you. Play their game, humor them and get the information YOU need. As far as things I can and cannot eat the only thing I found that will not go down is a tortilla. Other than that I do not have any restriction yet so I am fine for now. I expect that will change with the second or third fill.
  18. I feel great today (as far as what I ate and my activity level...my personal life still sucks) so I had to do a journal entry in terms of what I did. I noticed that having a snack around 4 PM (a hearty snack...a mini dinner) was key I think. 19. I am hoping that the second time around I get an agressive fill otherwise I am going to have to start considering other locations for my fills. No, no restriction. I COULD eat as much as I WANT to eat but most of the time I do not dare to do this. Right now it's just me and Weight Watchers, it's like I do not have the band yet.
  20. Hi Genie, I am sure it would taste the same but the calorie/fat count would be different. For example, I know skim milk is 90 calories a cup and I think 2% low fat is 120 calories per cup. Not sure about whole mile or soy. So just take that into account when you are making it. You might also want to try a half cup of regular milk with a half cup of water (I am sure it would not effect the taste at all).
  21. I wanted to add for those who do not know of the site to check out www.thedailyplate.com I myself am a WW On-line eTools member but the daily plate site is FREE and gives WW a run for it's money in my opinion in terms of a food journaling site.

  23. I am doing okay, not that great. First fill was a disappointment of sorts being that it was a conservative fill at the OCC. I only got 3cc put in my 11cc band so here I go back to the OCC on 1/16 for another fill. I do not have any restirction yet. I am hoping that the OCC is a little bit more agressive the second time around.
  24. Angie, I needed that. You started to make me cry again. Tears of kindness of course. I am feeling a bit vulnerable lately and I am starting to wonder if the Creator decided to put my bladder in the eye lids.

  25. Thank you Janice, I need all the prayers I can get right now as I clean up the wreckage of my life. Who knows? In the end this could all turn out to be a blessing. I think there is a saying about...I have to find it so I can put it up all over the house as a reminder.
