  1. Jojo, sweetie darling, you make me want to scream! You have an 11cc band & therefore 2cc is NOT enough! In order for you to feel any type of restriction you are going to need at least 5cc. I would have asked for 5 myself. You need to go back and get another 3cc at least.

  3. Sabrina, Good for you! You are at the stage where I someday aspire to be. The old adage "It's easy to loose the weight but the hard part is keeping it off" I think applies here in terms of thinking about the importance of maintenence and the role the band plays. Your doing fabulous on your own BTW!
  4. No doubt! I just ordered the DVD - Here is bogie's "Before" pic!
  5. I am so ordering this DVD for Bogie and me!! How exciting! I am so inspired by Bogie in general and this will be the perfect way to get us moving and in shape (since we both have the same body type - Short and chunky) Yoga4Dogs Dog Yoga; The Next Big Thing 25.11.2008 | Author: Manny Mackleprang | Posted in Fitness by Manny Mackleprang You’ve seen it on talk shows and news programs, read about it in newspapers and on the internet and heard about it on the radio; health and fun friendly Dog Yoga! This unique way of bonding with your pet while exercising has certainly taken America by storm. And there’s no reason it wouldn’t! Not since people first started taking their dogs for walks has there been such an entertaining way to exercise with your canine friend. Dog Yoga, finally a way to strengthen the connection between you and your pet while improving your health! Dog Yoga has been becoming increasingly more popular over the past few years. From New York City to Scottsdale, AZ to Hollywood, CA, Dog Yoga has made its “bark” on all of these cities. Formal and informal classes have been organized to pass on the art of Yoga to not only dog lovers but also the dogs who are loved. As instructional Dog Yoga courses have gained popularity over the years, the need for an instructional Dog Yoga DVD became very evident. Before the release of the first and only instructional Dog Yoga DVD; Amy Stevens’ Yoga4Dogs, Dog Yoga fans were forced to rely solely on classes. Often times these classes only included limited instruction by self-taught instructors. Dog Yoga fans were in a difficult situation; they were without the freedom of being able to participate in Dog Yoga in the comfort of their own home, on their own time. While there are plenty of instructional DVD’s for traditional Yoga, the same could not be said about Dog Yoga. When Amy Stevens’ released her Yoga4Dogs instructional DVD, Dog Yoga enthusiasts were finally afforded the freedom to perform the exercises in the comfort of their own home. It’s not hard to see why Dog Yoga is so appealing. Everyone loves dogsespecially our own. Dog Yoga is a great way to really strengthen your connection with your dog. Dog Yoga is unique because both you and your dog work together to gain increased harmony with each other. You are not doing the workout alone, nor are you simply helping your dog pose in the different yoga positions. Both you and your dog benefit from Dog Yoga togetherwhile exercising! Dog Yoga is great for all dogs. Little dogs, medium sized dogs and larger sized dogs can all participate in Dog Yoga. And the best part is; you can do it with them. No dog or human need be left out. Dog Yoga is great for everyone and every dog. Because Dog Yoga was inspired by traditional Yoga there are some positions in Dog Yoga that are similar. However, Dog Yoga is special due to the fact that it offers poses that both humans and dogs can benefit from. Dogs are not encouraged to participate in traditional yoga but Dog Yoga is great for them and their owners!
  6. You are really blessed to have such a great doctor and to share in such a wonderful relationship with him where you both can learn from eachother. I am very envious of that. Those kinds of relationships only come around a few times in a lifetime if you are lucky.
  7. Wow! JaJ you are a low BMI'er! Wow - not much to loose at all and I think Shadi could really use you as an example. Wow only 5 pounds since surgery ... okay well, there you go. And you got 6 cc on your first fill too & that is the most I have ever heard of on a first fill. I have 8cc in my band and I am struggling with it a bit. I basically have to relearn to eat or get a slight un-fill, my choice but such a hard one to make. It really sounds like you an Shadi are more of in the same situation. Thanks for sharing!

  9. I just wanted to add 2 very important things that have not been mentioned yet. 1. The "full" sensation due to restriction IS NOT the same full sensation you had pre-band. For me this "full" sensation can best be described as a tightening in the chest area (as this is where the new stomai is located). 2. It is perfectly okay to live a vegetarian lifestyle if you choose. You do not need to consume meat to get you daily intake of protein. There are other foods like beans, yogurt, cottage cheese, & eggs that are loaded in protein.
  10. Shadi, Not sure if this helps but the only way I lost any weight during the first 4 months of being banded was on Weight Watchers as my band di not kick in until my 4th fill on 3/18/2010 (Iwas banded on 11/13/09).
  11. I have never heard of waiting an hour. I was told 5 minutes before and 30 minutes after.
  12. I am not sure if I can address the restriction part of your post in words that describe it accurately so I will bow out and leave the deatils to someone else with a little more experience. I will say restriction for me is best desribed by a tightness in the chest. As far as meats go - I have found that I can have any meat that is ground & loose (chicken, turkey, hamburger, pork) and if I choose to have meat that is not ground I have to drink or sip something warm or hot first (like soup).
  13. (C/O Hungery-Girl.com) Spotted on Shelves... Sara Lee 80 Calories & Delightful Hamburger and Hot Dog Buns, Wheat - Hooray for Sara Lee! She has replaced our beloved, gone-but-not-forgotten Wonder Light buns with her brand-new, 80-calorie bread items. Each one has 1g fat, 160mg sodium, 14 - 15g carbs, 6g fiber, 2g sugars, and 4g protein (POINTS® value 1*). It's about time SOMEONE filled the void. (It's not rocket science, people!) Subway Goes Guilt-Free for Breakfast! GOOD FOOD NEWS! Our pals at Subway are giving us all NEW low-cal BREAKFAST options: Egg White Muffin Melts! These new b-fast sandwiches are launching all over the U.S. on (or before) April 5th. Here's the scoop: Keep it classic with the Western, or dress up your egg whites and cheese with Black Forest Ham, Double Bacon, or Steak. Plus, like all Subway's stuff, you can customize it with your favorite veggies and sauces. (Jalapeños and honey mustard, anyone?) It comes sandwiched into a (!!!) light whole-wheat English muffin. It's basically the stuff our HG dreams are made of. Each Egg White Muffin Melt has 160 - 190 calories, 4 - 7g fat, 570 - 620mg sodium, 18 - 19g carbs, 5g fiber, 0 - 1g sugars, and 15 - 16g protein (POINTS® value 3 - 4*). And if egg whites alone don't do it for you, get the with-yolk version for an extra 20 - 30 calories and 2.5 - 3g fat. (Must be a small yolk.) Not bad!

  15. Cindy, Not sure what your due date is but a late December, early January one would make your bundle of joy a Capricorn like me! I hope the baby is not born on January 1, like I was though so you do not miss that tax break for 2010
  16. Thanks! I needed something to lift the spirits and it sort of worked ;)

  19. C/O Wikipedia: "No accurate number of adjustments required can be given. However, an average may be estimated to be between three and five fills (where saline/isotonic solution is inserted into the band via the subcutaneous port) for a person to reach the optimal restriction for weight loss. The amount of saline/isotonic solution needed in the band varies from patient to patient. There are a small number of people who find they do not need a fill at all and have sufficient restriction immediately following surgery. Others may need significant adjustments to the maximum the band is able to hold." My first 3 fills were non-agressive but I have to take 2 things into consideration. 1 - I did not fast before my first 3 fills. 2 - I was on my period at the time of my 3rd fill due to not being "regular."
  20. The next WLS Meet & Greet has just been announced for Hawaii! It is scheduled for Aug 12 - 14, 2011 http://www.facebook.com/pages/Hilo-HI/Hawaii-Meet-N-Greet-2011/350724368496?ref=nf#!/pages/Hilo-HI/Hawaii-Meet-N-Greet-2011/350724368496?v=wall&ref=nf Hope to see you all there! I am going to start saving now and join Kristi in a pin-up bikini from My Baby Jo
  21. Welcome aboard The 24 pounds is just right around the corner! Great job
  22. Over here! I am finding that I do not do meats well unless they are ground. Anything crunchy, mushy or liquidy is fine but meat and breads forget it. What I have discovered that works is what Lindsay suggested. If you drink or eat something warm or hot & liquidy (coffee, tea, soup) before eating then the band opens up and you basically can eat almost anything. This is both a blessing and a curse so be careful.
  23. Fills Center USA - Las Vegas & they have flueroscopy! One of the rare ones that has Fluero, as none in California do.
