  1. Thanks Everyone for chirping in I am in the process of eating my granola bar for breakfast and so far so good but I am having major gurgling action going on as I chew and it is kind of loud. I am ver worried about something that I am hoping to get your opinions on. I have not really told anybody at work about my procedure and since I eat 2 out of 3 meals here, should I start telling people quietly in case I have issues that might cuase minor embarassement? How did you guys handle that situation?
  2. On Saturday, 3/13 I was 166.4 and today I am 165.3 ... So a loss of 1.1 pounds this week Post Script - yesterday 165.9 and today, Saturday, March 20 I am 164.9! So a loss of 1.5 pounds this week!!! It is so weird...the only days that I see a difference on the scale are Fridays and Saturdays! I wonder why that is? That is so crazy to me that those are the 2 days out of the week that I consistantly loose.
  3. Here is a great Youtube video on the subject: http://www.youtube.com/user/skymoon1982#p/u/26/mtPOKUdvqt8

  5. This is just an informative post about my 4th fill experience at the OCC for anyone who might be interested. Today I got my 4th fill at the OCC, as all of them have been at the OCC. My first fill was a month after surgery and I received 3cc on my first fill, my second was 2 months post op and I got another 3cc. My 3rd fill was 3 months post op and I got another 0.6cc. Upon seeing me for the 4th fill I think Dr. So knew I was a little dispondent b/c he said I looked fantastic and asked me how much weight I lost and then asked how much weight I lost with the band (he knows I am doing WW, as I emailed him my daily journals for a whole month post op) and I told him nada! So he said "Let's try to be a little agressive today." I told him he could go for it since I did something on this fill that I have not done for the ones prior, which is fast. I had not eaten any food since the night before (21 hours prior to my fill). He tried an additional 2cc but the barium was not going down so he tried 1.4 CC and the barium went down fine. So now I am at a total of 8cc in my band. He said I could go back and see him in 3 weeks if this turns out that it is not enough of a fill but did mention to me that 90% of his patients get ideal restriction at 8.5cc or less. For those of you who do not know I was worried about a leak. He did say that with the Realize 11cc band they have had no reported leaks and that with the other bands the leaks are usually in the port. He confirmed that I did not have a leak by removing my fluid and checking the volume of the amount he removed. When I asked him about a possible leak in the tube between the band and the port he said that it was extremely rare. He said that he has only had 1 case where the leak was not in the port but in the band itself. He also said that since I get all my fills at the OCC it was even less likely that I would get a leak. I am not sure if this fill will take or not. I will not know for a few more days I guess. I was able to eat a 100 calorie bag of popchips tonight without a problem but I need to try something more substantial I think.

  17. Thanks Kris for speaking up. It is good to know that the OCC does give 5cc fills when needed. Congrats on your loss this week of 2 pounds. That is really awesome and although you are not at your sweet spot yet I am sure you will have a lot of loss to show for it once you get there.

  19. OMG! Can't anyone just relax and let you soak up some rays or what!?! Myself included...sorry for being such a stalker and starting a situation on your behalf. I guess i better stick to PMing you instead?

  20. 21 days of liquids after surgery. B2010 just had surgery - she is on liquids for the next 21 days. If she chooses to have a glass of wine or a martini or a cranberry vodka then she should have one and enjoy it by all means! An ounce of alcohol is 100 calories (a shooter) and she is in Mexico lounging at a beautiful hotel. Give the gal a freaking break and do not make her feel guilty for something that she may or may not want to do and give her credit for being an intellegent adult.
  21. Again, I am very curious to find out if anyone has receive an individual fill of 5cc's or more at the OCC (individual being the operative word here)?
  22. Oh wow! We certainly did have two very different conversations did'nt we? He said a glass a day was fine and perfectly healthy (by the way he said this to both my mother and I) Maybe it is beacuse he knew that my mother and I knew that a glass of wine is approximately 100 calories for 8 ounces? Or maybe it is becuase he was speaking of alcohol in general with you or mixed drinks rather then wine specifically?
  23. Beth, be careful Hon with the Lunchables as they are loaded in calories and fat usually. The lowest one I could find was the Ham one at 200 calories and 9 grams of fat. Try sticking to foods that are less then 8 grams of fat per serving. You can also look up nutritional information on just about any brand or product at www.thedailyplate.com - it is a free site and the searchable database is UNBELIEVABLE! I just typed in lunchables and it came up with the nutritional info for all of them (calories, fat, protein, sodium, sugar, carbs, etc.)
  24. Oh that's right!! You better call the waiter back and make it a martini or Melon Ball . Dr. So says as long as you can see through it you can drink it White wine is also good as far as Dr. Ortiz is concerned so your in good hands at the Lucerna
  25. Let me put it to you this way Mandy, I have NEVER heard of ANYONE getting a first fill of 6cc at the OCC in an 11cc band and you are absolutely right bigger bands mean bigger fills and apparently your fill doctor knows that. But you paid a lot more money for your fill then what the OCC charges...more bang for your buck so to speak. The OCC is a little bit more on the conservative side for fills as far as what I have been reading. I hope I am totally wrong about this and by all means, if anyone with an 11cc band has received a fill from the OCC that is 5cc or greater please raise your hand. Mandy, give your fill doctor a big kiss on the cheek for me and tell him he has a secret admirer in Los Angeles
