Eight, wow count em, eight. Day eight began with my coffee and figuring out the day. I had my shake about 9:30 after going to get milk. I moved my old chair into the basement and made room for the treadmill I bought. I put down a mat and power strip and ended my participation in this. Drank another shake around 2:30 and the guys delivering the treadmill called. They wanted to know if I was home. I said Yes and went outside and they were across the street. Trying to deliver it to my neighbors. Any way we got it inside and setup. It seems to work good. I ran it through a couple of programs and did about a mile on it. I had my Chicken Club Panini for supper I still don't have a clue what I weigh, but I am sticking to their diet so they can't complain. I have even been writing it down so I can show them back-up if I have to. Thanx TC all.

Well I guess now is as good a time as any to start my quest. I'm am currently on my 8th day Pre-op and have been shocked. It's not that bad. Anyway today I'm going to get all my stuff ready for Sunday morning. We leave here at 6:30 in the morning (yuck). So I'm going to try to write in here for the next few days. Thanxs TC all

Day 7 Wow What can I say. Still doing the usual, 2 cups of coffee and a shake in the morning, A shake for lunch and a bowl of steamed broccoli later in the afternoon. Chicken club panini for supper and 11/2 liters of water. I'm pretty pumped I bought a Wii fit plus and when I hooked it up it said get off you are over 330lbs. So I thought I would try again today and was able to get it all setup because it said I weighed 325lbs. I am suppose to lose 17lbs by Monday. I don't know if I will lose that much, but I hope so. I refuse to weigh myself until Monday. Well I should go and my some milk for my shakes today. As usual TC all.

What up, What up. Well let's see day five is done. This was my first tough day. Hunger kind of crept up on me a lot today. I did not do that bad though. I did my usual for the day with 2 cups of coffee, and a shake in the am oh yeah and a Metamucil capsule. For lunch I had a bag of celery with Wishbone Spritzer and a shake. I came home and had a lean cuisine angel-hair pasts and shrimp + a lean cuisine steak, mushroom and cheese panini and a bowl of steamed broccoli. I guess I can't watch Food Wars for a while I'm going to go up to the dells and open up our camp Thursday and Friday. Hopefully I can get the leaf blower to blow or I'm going to have to do it the hard way. Put up the gazebo, chairs, table, chimes and our various wolf type creatures. Maybe go down to the river and see if there are any walleye below the dam. So days seven and eight will be delayed, Not that it matters ,but it's still fun. I can't believe I leave in four days.

Day #4 over with, gone, done, history. Today I got up at 5:30 am. I had 2 cups of coffee and a shake at 9:00. I then walked about a mile and a half. We went over to my Mother in laws and got some games loaded onto the laptop (slots and such)and my golf game. Came home had a shake and a bowl of steamed broccoli. For supper I had a lean cuisine shrimp and angel hair pasta with a cup of steamed broccoli.Still not to bad for the fat guy having major doubts about doing this. Pre-op is 1/2 over (woohoo).I can say this because it's 5:30 in the morning on Tuesday. I'm having some coffee and writing in here. I kinda like writing in here cause it doesn't matter who sees it. I'm just trying to have something to do and get better typing, I still have my moments. I wonder if I lost any weight? Oh well as long as I stick to what I'm doing I will be ok. Another day in the hopper.

Hi all it's day 2 and so far so good. I can't believe it I'm sitting here drinking a shake and I'm doing pretty fair. Yesterday I started my pre-op diet. I had a shake for breakfast and lunch. I had a Lean Cuisine Chicken Club Panini and 2 celery stalks. Today I have had 2 cups of cowith spinach leaves a shake, 2celery stalks, and a shake. I'm going to have a salad with Spritzer(ranch)with spinach leaves and another Chicken Club. I was sure I was going to have problems. You know I think if you think the worst before you start. Then the real thing isn't so bad. I did the same thing when I quit smoking a few years ago. I'm going to try to write in here every day. It's kinda fun and it helps my crappy typing. Gotta go take care all.

That is great. Personal achievements are always so gratifying. Keep up the good work.

Well the first day is here. This is also my first blog. I really don't know where to start. So I guess I 'll start with me. I'm 50 years old and weigh 350#.For years I had no trouble maintaining my weight. To the point that I never even thought about it. I used to be very active with hiking, mountain biking, weight lifting etc. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest which I believe to be the best place in America to live. Anyhoo I usually had jobs that were physical or where I needed to stay in shape to do them.I was a bouncer in Portland for many years. I was a commercial fisherman in Alaska. Casino security in Reno and Vegas. Cook, bartender, and about every job in a restaurant. So I guess these kept me from getting fat because you are always moving about. Now I work at a prison in Wisconsin and contrary to what you see on TV I sit around alot and watch TV or shoot the breeze with my officer's. The best description I can give you about working at a prison is that it is hours of boredom followed by seconds of terror. So I went down the slippery slope, 5lbs here 5lbs there etc. I first started looking into weight loss surgery about two years ago. It was then I found out that my "CADILLAC" insurance would not pay for anything. It's strange they will pay for treatment of any weight related disease you may get but not prevention. So I went on another diet and lost 45lbs and promptly gained it back plus some. I went to my doctor and she suggested that I go to a seminar on Lap-band surgery. I did go and was given some pretty cool info on the procedure. There was a rep there from my insurance company and I asked her why they would not pay for this. Her reply was this. Are you ready, There is no guarantee that you will lose weight. I told her that there is no guarantee that you can cure diabetes or heart disease, but you'll pay for that. Needlees to say she probably won't be adding me as a friend anytime soon. The cost was over 25,000 and that did not include everything. They wanted me to jump through all these hoops. Psych eval, weight loss therapy etc for 18 months (more greed)before I could even have surgery.Isaid to myself they want me me to do all this and I'm footing the bill KMA to that. With this I got on the net and began exploring my options. Like most of you I found several, but always seemed to come back to Dr. Ortiz. At first I saw they were in Cancun and TJ. Having spent time in Cancun I thought wow surgery, beach, sun, what could be better. I contacted several places and I was very impressed by Dr. Ortiz's credentials. So I got hold of Lori, went to my Dr. who filled out my heath form, got a physical,a stress test, and a home equity line of credit. So here we go.

I guess I should have said I am also on Diet #2. I will be using Muscle milk lite as a protein shake. The leafy vegetables are for in between. I was just wondering about the baby carrots and celery because I like them. Any suggestions on tasty lean cuisine meals ? Thank you all for your support. It's kinda weird being one of very few guys on here. Doolittle is a great help. Thanks again all.

Well everything is paid. I start pre-op diet on Friday. Surgery on Monday the 19th. I sure hope I can do this. I need to lose 17lbs before surgery. Dr. Miranda said I could eat up to 4lbs of leafy vegetables a day. I almost mooed when she said that lol. Does anyone know if you can eat baby carrots or celery?

30 days to go. This is going to get very real soon. I read Dr.Otiz's book and it was very informitive. Especially for family members who are supportive. It's funny how some try to talk you out of it. I'm going any way.

Wow there are still only 3 of us in April. I hope OCC doesn't find out they will raise the fee. LOL. I will be there the 18-22. That gives us an extra day to shop or do something fun. I hope to meet some fellow bandster's and start my journey. -

April 19th here. -
Well here we go. I sent in my deposit. My paperwork goes in today. April 19th is my surgery date.I'm already nervous and hope I can do this. I just got back from a cruise and many of my reasons for doing this were reaffirmed on this trip. I think now that I have a date I will start posting more. I went to my primary doctor the other day and she is very glad I'm doing this. She to was appalled when I told her the cost in Madison. About 24 to 26,000 dollars and that did not include fills. So which hotel should I stay at ?
-
If I choose to go back to OCC for fills. Does any one know other than airfare what it costs ? Also, do you think it's better to return to OCC or find someone in the states ? I live in Wisconsin if that helps.
