  1. Haha! A girl after my own heart... I want to play FF13!!
  2. Yes, that is exactly how I feel! I am in it to win it!!
  3. Well, I have not had a fill yet but it sounds awful lol!! Not looking forward to feeling hungry all the time... but I suppose since it is just a couple of days it won't be so bad...
  4. They actually have a "wegih-In Wednesday" thread they they update regulary -- http://www.occforum.com/index.php?showtopic=11125 in the Testimonials section. But I am sure if you want to start a Friday one, there may be other who prefer that day. Me, I weight everyday no matter what
  5. I just figured since one person is encouraging newbies to drink alcohol, maybe we needed someone encouraging people to stay on a weight-loss track. Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you SHOULD. I can go eat a big mac from McDonald's right now since I am not on liquids.. but SHOULD I? Probably not... I take the same attitude with alcohol. I will drink it occasionally as a treat. I just thought it was a little weird to encourage someone newly banded to order a cocktail...so felt I had to say something. And no thanks on any of your "lube".
  6. My mom was told wine was ok, also. Nobody told me that, but probably because I wasn't planning on drinking any and I didn't ask. Alcohol is empty calories generally and I would hesitate to start drinking empty calories the day after surgery... try to stick with the meal plan given to you by Dr. Miranda and if you are miserable have a glass of wine. That was my motto but I was never miserable enough to have one, just had a couple the night of a big event (couldn't eat the food so I had the wine instead), which was a week or so post-op. Just remember you are trying to lose weight here not gain it!
  7. I totally agree, the staff at OCC are the best! Hold off on that pina colada for a bit, though! It is not a clear liquid!
  8. Our fill doctor in Eugene says a normal first fill for an 11cc band is 4cc.
  9. Well, I am not Brown Eyed Girl, but I recently finished my 21-day diet also (this is day 22), and the biggest thing to remember is that if you don't stick on this liquid diet, it could cause problems for you in the future because your band can't heal into place correctly and it could slip. That is what helped keep me on the liquids, knowing that I just CAN'T cheat. It was not an option. Like Dr. Ortiz said, yes it is hard, but this is the last diet of your life! Just figure you will be miserable at times, and you just have to deal with it. That is all you can do is drink good liquids and once you get to creamy soups a lot more options open up! Smoothies, etc. I even had a milkshake one day when I was feeling sad about only liquids. Milkshakes are not recommended but are better than cheating and eating real food... I only did it once. Anyway, you CAN do it, just believe in yourself!
  10. Yes, I don't think anyone doesn't want you to succeed. Even the ones disagreeing with you! I want everyone to succeed, because I know how much it sucks not being at your ideal weight... I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I try the "tough love" approach because sometimes you just gotta say what is on your mind and not sugar-coat it! I do the same thing with people in my life. Anyway, good luck and may we all succeed.
  11. Ok, sorry, I guess I wasn't trying to insult anyone. Yes, we all have demons, I am working on mine now also! I don't get to exercise until my 21 days are up, so when that happens believe me, I will be out there hitting the pavement like you. You posted this topic after many people already weighed in on it, even Dr. Ortiz! That is where the "stubborn" comment came from. Like I said before, when you post something on a public forum, I always assume you expect a response, so I gave one. Again, not trying to be offensive, maybe I will watch what I type before I hit send. My apologies.
  12. Cool. I love veggies, too. So, this might be something I can try. I need to make some tomato pie or something, I was thinking about what to buy now that I get to eat food, but I am so confused about what I want to start eating each day.
  13. NSV = Non-scale victory Good job, I hate running so I just can't imagine ever wanting to do that, but maybe someday... I have to figure out how I am going to get myself to exercise first...
  14. This seems to be a no brainer. If you are not eating solid foods, and solid foods help your portion control, then it is time to start eating solid foods and skip the mushies. The band works with solid foods, so it's time to start eating solid foods instead of mushies.
  15. It sounds like Bogiesmom has made up her mind about her band (whether that is accurate or not). If she is going to let this be her excuse not to lose weight, then nobody can change her mind but herself. If she isn't at restriction yet, then she needs more fills. Dr. Ortiz explained why he chooses the bands he chooses, there is really nothing anyone else can do. She is stubborn and the only one she is hurting is herself. I hope she doesn't let this stand in her way of losing weight, it would be a shame to let this opportunity pass you by.
  16. Well, I am glad it is going well and can't wait to eat some tomato pie also!!
  17. I don't think we are supposed to feel "full". On the webinar, Dr. Ortiz said that we should feel satisfied, not full. When you are full, it means you ate too much. When you are satisfied, it means you ate the amount your body needed. I think we will all get used to eating slower and taking smaller bites, and I think that is great. Iam already enjoying smaller drinks instead of guzzling a bunch of water at once. I noticed that I get smaller sizes of drinks, too and don't finish them all in one day. I like that!! It took me like 3 days to finish a vitamin water, and that was cool!
  18. For those of you who didn't see, a message was posted from Dr. Ortiz addressing this issue and it is in the "answers" part of the forum. It might help those who have been discouraged about their band size, etc.
  19. How sad!!! Those sounded goooooooood, I could eat a whole quiche right now I bet!
  20. First off, it is 22.7!! That is including the pre-op diet as well. I lost 11.5 on the pre-op diet and the rest afterwards. The weight loss stopped suddenly when I switched to creamy soups, but that is ok, it hasn't gone up one bit (literally, it is still the exact same weight).
  21. I posted on the other thread, but in case you haven't seen it yet -- I can't go to OCC due to financial restrictions (being dirt poor). How about you guys plan to come to Eugene and get filled with me instead? hahahaha
  22. Add that to the (short) list of reasons it is great to be completely white with no tan whatsoever! lol.
  23. The 3 week liquid diet has been HARD at times, but you just have to remind yourself that you HAVE to do it, there is NO choice, and you get through it. I feel like an old pro now, I only have a few days left of it. Soup for breakfast lunch and dinner just seems normal now lol. I am actually not going to OCC for my fills, unfortunately. I really wish I could, but I just can't afford it, I don't live close, so I would have to fly down and try to do it in 1 day and it just didn't seem to work out timewise. Then if I stay over night it is even MORE expensive. There is a really good fill doctor in Eugene here, and I am going to her, it will only cost me like $150 (she gives a discount if you bring in your unemployment info!! How awesome is that!) If I wasn't so poor right now due to the #&^$&* economy, I would probably go to OCC. But this doctore comes HIGHLY recommended, so it is my next best choice.
