Hi, if you have decent credit, the band can be financed. If not, the Michael Thurmond 6-week body makeover is very, very good. It helped me even when I plataued with the band. Next thing to mention, how about having it done overseas? I did mine in Tijuana, Mexico and I had a great experience with no complications. Hope I've helped in some way.

Kevin, I appreciate your encouragement. I am trying, and am worried because I only have 5 days left. I will pass the exhalation test since I don't have any of the side effects of smoking, but it bothers me that I am unable to quit for something as serious as surgery. I don't have to do the liquid diet due to my lower BMI, but I would have rathered that. That would have been easier for me. But even though I am having such a hard time I will quit because it is not only about the surgery. It's about my health long-term. I hope you are some type of motivational speaker/counselor. That is definitely your calling. I have read several of your posts and am convinced of that. Thanks again.

My surgery is scheduled for 11/27, and I still have not been able to quit. I am a healthcare professional so I know all about the ramifications. I would like to "chat" with others with the same issue. Thanks

9 days before band and I am a bag of nerves. Would love to communicate with others who feel, or have experience with this.

Hi Marissa, I am scheduled to have the procedure done on 11/27 and have nerves. This is normal. I would be worried about anyone who didn't have questions and nerves about any type of surgery. However, you must understand that pain is subjective and we all experience it differently. I would expect some type of pain if my skin is broken by any means. Also, answering all the other questions: all those things you are concerned about are very individualized to each of us so no two people will have the exact same experiences. Just think of "no pain, no gain," pray this prayer and do what you believe is right for you. Strengthen me, your servant, O God, to do what I have to do and bear what I have to bear; that, accepting your healing gifts through the skill of surgeons and nurses, I may be restored to usefulness in your world with a thankful heart; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. A side bar: I am an ICU nurse, and have the opportunity of caring for patients post-op gastric bypass and I will tell you they are terribly sick, and have many, many complications. With the fears you have, this definitely may not be an option for you. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Hi guys/gals, My lap band placement is scheduled for 11/27/06 in TJ, with Dr. Huacuz and I am freaking just a little bit. Will keep you posted on the experience.
