I am a juvenile diabetic, insulin dependant, for 22 years, and being banded almost 3 weeks ago, has been such an improvement for me! I don't have the time with the band to give you an improved A1C yet, but my blood sugars are running on average around 100... Dr. Miranda will tell you that you should not overload on protein as a diabetic as this can cause kidney failure! She will give you some wonderful ideas and suggestions as far as eating healthy for you! During the liquid phase I have cut my insulin levels into less that half of what I was taking before LBS! I wear an insulin pump, and they even suggested that I may be able to go down to just one shot a day, and not having to wear a pump anymore either! Will see when that day comes... My advice to you is to contact Dr. Miranda because she will give you the best advice anyone can give you! Good luck to you... Kristy

Just for eveyone's information, I went to www.obesityhelp.com, and clicked on find a bariatric surgeon, and then your state, and it lists all of the doctors for your state, and start calling... I found a group of doctors that I am doing follow up care with, that have offices on both sides of the state, and their prices are great, as well as their creditials, experience, and the staff at their office that I have spoke to... I think everyone may be different... I was told to arrive in San Diego by Noon the day before surgery so that they can do my preops that day, but I have read others posts or messages that we've exchanged and some people are having their preops done the day of surgery... I wasn't sure if that might be because I am a juvenile diabetic who wears an insulin pump, but you might want to call OCC tomorrow and ask them... As far as your return flight, I just assumed that whatever time my flight was they would make sure to arrange for transportation back to San Diego... I have a return flight leaving at 6am, so I'm sure I'll be sleeping on the plane on my way home... LOL Good luck to you! Kristy

I'm sure you'll be okay... Although, everyone is different... I had lost about 10 lbs. but mine goes up a pound or two every day or so... I had around 12 lbs. to lose... My biggest problem is staying hydrated... My massage therapist is always telling me I need to drink more water... I'm so anxious to board that plane! Nothing's going to stop us now... I hope that the OCC has some way of introducing us all either at the hospital or at the hotel... Good luck in your last day or two of preop dieting! See you there... Kristy

I called Lori for this very reason yesterday... The way to get the book now is to order it through Amazon.com... The book is not being reprinted now, and he's putting out a new "update" version soon, is what Lori had explained to me yesterday, and something about problems with the previous publisher (I think)... WOW!!! It looks like Valerie, Hopeful, Kathie and I are all scheduled the same day!!! It's getting closer, and I'm very anxious to have this done! I can't wait to meet you all there! I am scheduled for surgery on March 8th... I will be arrivin on March 7th, early morning... I can't wait to have this done... I'm sure I will be meeting Hopeful there, perhaps we can go out shopping or just walking together...
