General Fill Questions from newbie
maplewillow1 replied to a topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I had the same problem and finally called which I was glad I did. Dr. M was so reassuring. He said I do need another fill. But you are supposed to wait a month before you do. I'm waiting to be able to go back. -
Highly discouraged and newly banded
maplewillow1 replied to Kristen's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Kristen, Get ready to be patient. I'm learning this is a process, not an instant cure. The first 6 weeks is only for healing. Most people don't have restriction after the swelling goes down. It can be discouraging but you have to watch what you eat. After your first fill hopefully what you can eat will be restricted. Hang in there. -
Need Passport to go to TJ??
maplewillow1 replied to msvanessa143's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
If you want souveniers, silver, leather etc. take a taxi to the revolution. If you want regular shopping go to the mall about three blocks away. -
Jennifer, You could try getting the Lucerna's cab that parks in the hotel parking lot. They are guarenteed safe and cost a little bit more. Or you can just grab one. You just have to not let them rip you off. Also be sure to allow plenty of time for the trolley. I was an hour late for my appointment because the trolley took an hour. Marilyn

Thanks Doris for that very good description. After I get another fill I will definitely watch for the soft stop. Marilyn

Hellooooo? Anybody out there? Please respond. I only have restriction occasionally. Do I need more fill?
-
Please help me figure this out. I had surgury on 10/12/05. I had my 1st fill on 12/03/05. I didn't have any restriction after surgery after the swelling went down which I understand is normal. My fill was 1.5cc. I only feel restriction with bread and some meat. I have had a PB with those items. I'm not losing because I can eat too much of other things without feeling full. I try to eat slowly and to chew well. What I'm wondering about is: Do I need more fill? And What does full feel like when you have the right fill amount? Do you feel full OR do you just get that PB feeling - pain in the chest? Thanks, Marilyn

No weight lost - after first fill
maplewillow1 replied to The Hawaii Girl's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I guess I am glad to see others that aren't losing because I've started feeling like a failure. I just got my first fill on 12/03 and don't have enough restriction I guess, because I can eat almost as much as ever. I think I have a little restriction because I do have trouble with bread. Do I need more fill? Because other wise I just spent $10,000 for nothing because I still won't lose weight unless Idiet like before. This is quite complicated. I guess the right amount of fill must be all important? yes? -
Anyone getting a fill in TJ on Nov 28?
maplewillow1 replied to BBinLA's topic in Fill Doctors & Fill Trips to Tijuana
BB were you banded around 10/11?Are you a flight attendent? I think I met you. How have you been doing? I haven't done well weight wise. I have no restriction and no will power. I'm getting filled 12/03. Marilyn -
I'm sorry to hear about the erosion. Does the OCCenter take any responsibility for this? Or is it just, sorry about your luck? Is the removal surgery costly? You might know one of the most successful people would develop this problem. Hopefully you have learned a new way to eat. Thanks for the wake up call. I am 6 weeks post op and have gained back what I lost. I get my first fill 12/03/05.

I wish I couldn't eat. My first fill is scheduled 12/03/05 and I can eat anything and everything. I've just about gained all the weight I lost before and after surgery. I'm trying to be good and patient but I'm starting to get depressed.

Requesting helpful hints
maplewillow1 replied to fifclark56's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
When I got banded on 10/12/05 I got a 10cc but another girl got an 11cc so I think he does do what is needed. Plus you have a chance to talk to him about you concerns. -
Jenna, I just have to say you are very helpful to others on this forum. You seem so knowlegable and reasonable. I'm glad you arethere if I need you. Thanks, Marilyn

Hi Chonies!! I'm glad you are feeling and doing better. I think I misplaced your email address. Beth says I had the anesthectic dummies for days. Now what will my excuse be? Wow you went back to work quick. I went wednesday and felt ok except for lightheadedness. I drank a protein shake a couple days early and it went away. Keep in touch. Marilyn

Officially 1 month Post Surgery
maplewillow1 replied to twistienicholl's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hey Christine, That is wonderful for you! I was just wondering if you felt any hunger when you were just on liquids? My surgery was 10/12 and I'm getting hungry. I hope when I can eat solids I have some restriction like it sounds like you do. Was it hard for you to wait for solids? How many liqids did you have? I don't want to have too many or I'm afraid I won't lose anything. Marilyn -
Chonies, how are you?I hope you got to go home yesterday. I'm feeling better each day. I'm already sick of liquids tho. I feel like I could float a boat. Ha. Marilyn

Chonies How are you doing???? I hope you got to go home yesterday. I'm feeling better each day-less sore. I'm already sick of clear liquids tho. I feel like I could float a boat.

Hi BB. This is Marilyn. I met you in the hospital waiting room. I thought of you when we flew out of Dallas. I too have had portal pain. But it gets better each day. I had a lot of trouble with the one way valve in my stomach. It seems like Ihave less gas build up in my lower stomach if I keep drinking liquids. If it gets completly empty that is when the bubbles start. It is a little uncomfortable to burp. I hope you continue to do well.

Karen from Australia...L.A. you left without saying goodbye...i want your email had a great time with you and would like to keep in touch. Marilyn and Nurse Rachitt

Hey tbonesclowns. This is Marilyn. My surgery date is Ocy 12th also. I don't mind the taste of slimfast, I just get so much acid in my stomach from not eating that I feel starved. See you there?
-
Hi Chonies, I'm a little worried about the airplane seat too because I have an 8 hour ride and I worry about blood clots. Just remember to flex your legs. This preop diet is HARD. Thank goodness I'm so busy at work Ihave little time to think about it. Marilyn
-
Hi Chonies, I hope to see you at Tiajuana. This slimfast diet is killing me. My stomach has too much acid for this. I hope I don't have this problem after surgery. Marilyn

Advance Planning for surgery
maplewillow1 replied to Debbie's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Debbie, You do have to come to a point of knowing it is the right thing at the right time, but once you do you also have to make up your mind that it is your life and your body no matter what anyone else says. My husband hasn't been supportive, but now that he sees I'm doing it anyway, he is showing more interest. Unless people do the research they really don't have an educated opinion. (in my opinion) -
I'm scheduled for 10/12/05. Do I have any buddies out there? I'm from Ohio.
