I have to agree with the others.... my emotions are all over. Hubby and daughter went away for the weekend and I stayed home. The first day was nice, quiet and I enjoyed the alone time. Well yesterday I was very emotional and boo whoo-ey, nothing seemed to be going right for me. As I was driving I saw a cat on the side of the road that had been hit and killed and he looked just like our cat Bubba [it wasn't him and I knew that] but that was it..... I bawled like a baby and prayed that the cat didn't suffer. I realized then that I was missing my family and couldn't wait for them to come home. Food is a hard drug to give up because we can't give it up totally, we have to eat to live. I do believe our emotions will "calm down" after we get adjusted to our new lives with the band. We have to give ourselves time, we're re-learning how to deal with food and all the emotions that come with it.

No worries Honey!! Next week you'll be posting "I don't know what I was so worried about, everything was great!!" Truely, don't let the life insurance thing bother you.... Dr. O hasn't lost anyone and he's not gonna start now! So break it to Hubby that there won't be any big checks comming in the mail!! I know I was very nervous before my surgery and now realize what a waste of time that was. Try to enjoy your trip. Will you be doing any shopping while you're in TJ? If you like to haggle, you'll love Revolution Ave.!! Best advice.... Take a suitcase with wheels, sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk!! Send Love to Dr. O, Dr. M and staff for us, Darlene

fat2nrml replied to shasha's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hi there and welcome!! There are people here that had their surgery done by Dr's other than Dr. Ortiz at the OCC. How long and how many pounds down?
fat2nrml replied to Kim2BSlim's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I was banded on 3-25-08. Pre-op weight 214 Surgery day weight 208 Current weight 184 Down 30lbs I guess I'm averaging about 6.5 lbs a month. I just had my second fill on 7-29 and had restriction for about 4 days.... it's now gone again. Oh to find my sweet spot!! :cray: PS Way to go Paula!! -
I'd have to guess that it would be the calorie thing. I love wine too, but it doesn't love me. My hands and feet swell right after I drink it and continues through the next day. I was banded in May and have'nt had any alcohol since [i have an average of 2 drinks per year] No desire really...... now, if I could only look at food that way!!

How many nights did you stay in hospital?
fat2nrml replied to shasha's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hello and welcome!! At the OCC you stay in the hospital one night and the hotel one night. I felt really good and went shopping the day after my surgery. Best wishes, Darlene -
Hey Kimmie, I would imagine it was the Green Tea that's making you feel sick. It has caffine in it and it makes me sick too. It's like taking those NO Doze pills, YUCK! The rest of it sounds good. I was taking Ginko and stopped cause my Doc said it can thin your blood. [i was bruising really easily.] Best wishes, Darlene

Hello, I am new - Introduction
fat2nrml replied to WormButterfly's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hello and welcome!! Best wishes for your surgery and a speedy recovery. Most of us here were banded by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico and we were all up and around shortly after surgery. Walking and sipping water are the 2 best things I found to do as soon as possible! Good luck to you and please keep us updated on your progress! Darlene -
As a matter of fact, I just had a PBing episode today. I had my second fill on July 29th and my restriciton varies from day to day. I had a grilled chicken wrap for lunch [it was about 11:30, but I was hungery.] Anyways... I was chewing slow and trying to pay mind to what I was doing but my daughter was talking to me and I must not have chewed well enough and well, you can probably imagine the rest. :bad: I ate the exact same wrap the day after my fill and had no problem. Like Kimmy said, the Band can be very moody! It sounds as though you may need a little taken out. If you can tolerate hardly any food, that's not good. Take care and best wishes, Darlene

Prospective Lap Band Patient
fat2nrml replied to cranioDan's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hello Daniel and welcome!! I really hope you find the info you're looking for, just search through the threads and read, read, read!! I highly recommend talking to the people at the OCC, they'll tell you everything you want to know. I think it's recommended not to drink soda for 6 months after surgery. I don't drink it, I'm a iced tea drinker. It's not any good for you anyways... especially diet soda. I had my surgery in March and I've lost 30lbs. total. I would do it all over again, it was a snap! Good luck to you Daniel and Best Wishes!! Darlene -
I have 4 cats and they're all rescues 1st is Bella a long fur gray and sandy color. She is our only female and she is the princess of the house. She's about 8yrs. 2nd is Binx [i call him Pooper] he's all black with short fur and is a Momma's Boy. He's also about 8 or 9 yrs. 3rd is Bailey he's all white short fur and such a love! He is a constant purrer! He's about 3 or 4 yrs. 4th is Bettis he's a butterscotch Tabby short fur with white socks. He attached himself to our youngest daughter, a sweetheart. He's 2 yrs. We also had a Maine Coon cat Named Bubba, but he sort of took over the other cats and had the house in a constant uproar. He weighed about 24lbs and is beautiful! He's orange and white patches and stripes with med. length fur. We tried everything but we felt he'd be better in a house with one other cat. We gave him to a friend who had a female cat that was lonely and bitchy. She loves Bubba dearly and they are the best of friends. He's very protective of her and they are always together. It broke my heart but I do get to visit him and see how content he is now. He was too high strung and was always on edge at our house. Our oldest daughter has a cinnamon colored weiner dog named Lolah. [bubba hated her and would roll her any chance he got] She has one dapple eye and she's so dear!! I call her "Gammies little lo-rider"!! She loves to get in the pool with us, she also showers regularly with Gammie. She'll sit out side the curtin and cry until I lift her in. She also has stairs to get up and down, we worry about her back. She's only 4 but she's very active. That's my Zoo and I love them SO!!!

I know that I felt yucky too after my surgery, I didn't poo for 6 days and felt sick to my stomach. I'd say to make sure you poo and get all the fluids you can. The lack of fluids might be why you're not pooing. I'd worry about that before I'd worry about getting yogurt down. I sure hope you feel better soon!! Darlene

terrible, terrible fill experience
fat2nrml replied to my_friend_amber's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Oh sweetheart, I feel so bad for you!!! You must have been scared TO DEATH!! I've had 2 fills and fortunetly I had them done at the OCC and they were painless [i swear!] I pray that I never have an experiance like yours [and that you never have another] but personally, I don't think that is normal. I think you're right, you have to make sure that your fill Doc is experianced and not practicing on you. I'm so worried that if I go to another Doc for fills, he\she may damage my port [or hurt me] and then I'd be screwed. I truely hope you can find a good fill Doc [or be able to go back to the OCC] Best wishes, Darlene -
So sorry, I'm such an idiot! :lb12:
