I just thought I would start a new topic for the people that are in Arizona - hope this helps with flying or driving into San Diego for your surgery date or a fill I live in Gold Canyon , AZ and will be banded on Tuesday October 10th --boy is it getting close - I now actually do have the jitters setting in --I have a husband and 3 children that know all about my upcoming surgery-my husband is very supportive - my oldest daughter is probably as nervous as I am - the next daughter is at the age of who cares- and my son won't have anyone to cozy with for 3 days while I am away ---- I hope to meet a lot of local people to share and meet and talk about our upcoming experience- and to provide support for those that will be needing it soon- please jump on board and introduce yourselves - i will work very hard at keeping this thread going ----I love what the state of Washington has done with thier little group and meeting possibly on occasion is not too far out for this group to start doing.. hope to hear from other zonies soon!!!!

I will be flying in on the 9th with surgery on Tuesday the 10th - I start my pre op diet on Tuesday of this week - I want to have the extra time to make myself realize this is the start of a new begining for me.....I will probably wait the 6-8 weeks for a fill---I willprobably try to get back b4 the end of the year -mostly cause I don't have a passport yet and I heard possibly at the begining of 2007 they will require one to cross the borders......I will probably see you while you and I are there in tijuana -----I will be the blonde heavy set one looking really nervous lol

Cheryl , the best too you with your surgery - I will be coming in on Monday also but my surgery is on the 10th maybe I will see you----I will be traveling with a friend but we are only coming in from AZ

My girlfriend is flying in with me on the 9th of october and she will be staying at the hotel the ight I am in the hosptial - they did not act like they are charged above and beyond--but it is a good question to bring up -----

Thanks for the info-- i am scheduled for surgery 10/10/06 - i went to the ticker page have my ticker done how do you post it on here? I tried the copy and paste thing but it just keeps it leaving the coding on? you have done wonderful so far....my husband will be my rock on this journey of mine- he is very supportive of teh decision to lose weight this way ----my goal is to run to the highway and back to my house - when I was younger I didn't enjoy running, i'm willing to try it again.....I see so many people running in my neighborhood men and woman ----- Cyndi-n-AZ

Mystery, your weight now - includes anything you lost just prior to surgery ---I want to do one of the cute little tickers how do you get them? and the normal would be to start off at what you weighed when i presume we started to inquire about the surgery? thanks for any info...Cyndi-n-AZ

My date has been scheduled for the 10th of October I will be flying in from AZ -----looking for anyone to come along with friend and myself to explore the shpoping area around there I wil be in on October 9th for the pre op things --Cyndi in AZ

I just made my reservations for me and my friend to fly in Monday October 9th surgery the 10th WOO HOO less than one month -

well that is good to know ----won't bring too much cash with me then - hopefully I will be talking to someone in th office over the next few days and start this whole process-- my funds for the surgery should be in over the next 2 weeks --does anyone know if the OCC takes personal checks?

so glad someone has written back -- you have done really well on the use of this tool...I am preparing myself for the procedure as much as I can - my friend will be coming with me and the husband will stay home with the children... I am in Gold Canyon but work in Tempe---going to talk to work tommorow about the time I can take off of work---I am wondering cause this in my opinion is a medical neccesity but since I am not going through insurance to get this done I am wondering if the FMLA aor short term disabilty will be honored --anyone else experience this? I have been out from a back injury about 2 years ago and they put me on short term disability like that - I would like to be out for about 3 weeks / my children will be in school and that way I can really recover ----and work on the new lifestyle I have just choosen =......

this is how I feel all the time -- I am a very outgoing person I love life Ilove my family - I researched gastric bypass surgery for a long time and have been denied 3 times for the surgery. I am 5'4 and weigh 268lbs. more than my husband.... I would get a denial and do a program for about 4 weeks so I could get a history of a diet going for the insrance and yes my insurance will pay for it but gee how much do you have topay out of your frickin pocket before they give???? So I have been quiet about it for a couple of years and am currently doing weight watchers with a friend - she is losing I am floating back and forth with about 5lbs. going on 10 weeks .... I am busy ---I have kids I have a FT job (like nobody has that) and I am full of excuses of why I can't eat right ---but my weight over the last 8 years the birth of my last child has crept up from 230 to 268 never higher never lower/ the 230 was losing 20lbs. while I was pregnant with that 3rd child so when I started back with eating out and so on I gained that back and 18 more----so I am not a yo-yo dieter --I just give up----I want this surgery my husband has already said we can afford it and maybe this is the way to go ??? I have read alot about the lap band VS gastric and the nourishment issue and the sagging skin( goodness that i ask the insurance for anything else(and I have great insurance))that does bother me - I want to grow with my husband (annoy him a little longer LOL) watch my kids grow and see the other things that happen life without having to worry about health problems that the gastric can bring on...I have high blood pressure now .... with the lap band yo still recieve the nourishment/protien by eating - I have a friend that goes back and forth from normal food to a liquid diet due to she can't handle the solid food sometimes - she looks great but doesn't look too happy.... I have recieved info from Dr. Ortiz I willbe buying the book soon to read - I figure after the kids are back in school and just before the holidays kick into full swing would be a great time for the surgery I am looking for a October date ----I would love to stay in contact with anyone that reads and I wil be posting more -- Ilove reading what everyone has to say - very helpful- and caring --- Ilove having the nurses in here that are just thrilled they have had the surgery and how clean the facility is ---that eases my mind about going into Mexico for surgery - for I will be possibly traveling myself - the hubby will stay home watch kids HAH! and working --- I will post again soon maybe with a picture too.... LOL I don't think I hae noticed any pictures posted ??? or maybe I am not looking in the right place-------Good night
