pre-op evals and surgery the same day

Recommended Posts

I will be having my pre-op evals and surgery on the same day. I just want to hear the experience of those who went through the same thing.

  • What time did they pick you up from the hotel? We will be staying at Hotel Lucerna.
  • How long was the pre-op eval? What time did you have your surgery?
  • What time were you released the next day?

 Thanks for the info!

I had my surgery yesterday. They said they would pick me up at 5:30 am and did not arrive until 6:15. Once we arrived at the OCC we had to fill out some paperwork. Directly after, we did our pre op tests which was pretty quick. I was the first surgery and went in around 9:30. I live in San Diego and was released the same day. I came home last night.

I think I was picked up at 7am. They will tell you what time they're coming, or will call you at the hotel to let you know. As for pre-op, it was really quick. The first thing was getting the IV inserted, I think they drew some blood as well, but I can't recall. Then, a meeting with Dr. Miranda, and another doctor to do an ECG. After that, I was shown to my room. I was second in line for surgery (may have had it around 9 or 9:30am, but can't recall). After my pre-op, I just had time to go to the bathroom and get into the gown and paper underwear when they called me in. Oh yes, somewhere in there, while I was waiting, they gave me an ativan, and Dr. Ortiz came and talked to me for a bit. It was all very fast.

I had surgery on 3-17-2009. We were picked up at the Marriott at 5:45am, went through the preop... (dental visit, cardiologist visit and testing, Nutritionist appointment, blood work and IV incert, and then went back to our private surgery rooms, met with Dr. Ortiz, had some meds before surgery and then waited till it was my time to go. To be honest I lost track of time but my goal was just to relax and that is what I did!

This was a great experience. The nurses are fantastic as are all the staff! Enjoy your time there!
