Myskinny
I was banded on 3/20 but here in Texas. I am getting to feel really good. Are both of you guys doing any solids at all? I was told today that I could start trying things of mushy consistancy. Also how many calories do you feel you are getting in? I know I am not getting that many. He told me to up it to 800 but I don;t see how I can do that. I also had a hernia repaired as well. I would love to burp and I have only had one really good burp sice surgery and it felt so good. crazy right?
Jodi119
My surgen is Dr. Teng here in Las Vegas. He is a good surgen but has absolutely no bedside manner. He is very strict about eating and I can't have mushly things until week 3 and then it must be pureed. I have been "eating" broth and yogurt starting with my 2nd week. I am starting to get hungry more so I am ready for the mushy food of week 3. My calories right now are about 350 - 400 a day. Are taking all of the vitamins now? They have me on 4 different ones and I am having trouble getting them all down. I am going to look for different brands to see if I can find some that taste better. The only vitamin I take is Flintstones chewable vitamins and chewable calcium. I am not supposed to be on mushies till week 3 but i asked if I could have a scrambled egg and he said yes and maybe I could try some refried beans. I am going to wait until I really want it. And yes my caloric intake is the same. I think I must be excited because I would have never thought I could survive on such low calories. I was also an insane diet coke drinker. This may be the longest I have gone without DC sin 20 years. My Dr turned out to be very sweet. Most surgeons are not very friendly in the fact that they are always"getting down to business". Dr Ortiz seems so funny, also. hang in there!! I look forward to staying in touch with you so we can help each other out. Lori
Jodi119
I wish my doctor was nicer but oh well...he was recommended by my OB-GYN and primary doctor so that is why I went with him. Did you have your surgery in Mexico? I have to wasit six months and do the supervised weight loss so that my insurnace would cover it. I was addicted to soda as well and boy that has been hard but I am doing pretty good without it. I go back to work on Monday so I will have to adjust there as well. Not many people at work know what kind of surgery I was out for so I guess I will let the cat out of the bag now.
AshleyMarie
I too cannot have any solids until week 3. I am currently having 1 protein shake a day with Otter Pops, broth and yogurt. I am doing fairly well. Today is day 9 and I have gone to many restaurants with my friends and have not been hungry. I did go to sushi and had some Miso Soup and last night I went to Islands and just sipped on my water. I feel like if I can do this, I can do anything! Jodi119
I am eating pretty much the same thing but have not gone to any restaurants. I am not sure when I will try that. Isn't it hard to just sip water while everybody is eating??? It is hard enough eating yogert while everybody else is eating...the smell kills me. BlondieChic
I am one week out and getting ready to go back to work. I also had hiatal hernia surgery as well. I am burping like crazy. Anybody from the Las Vegas area or just tips in general??? I'm from Las Vegas too. I was banded on 3/30 in Mexico. Things are good, I haven't had a PB experience yet. I do tend to burp at the end of the meal. I lost about 18 lbs before starting on solids. Going on 2 weeks on solids and haven't lost any more weight. I have a scheduled fill next month. Hope I can travel to Mexico. Take care and good luck!
