Going into Mexico Right?

Ok well my one year bandiversary is Friday and since I have been stuck at my current weight for about 6 weeks now I think I am going to need a fill, I can tell I'm eating more or at least wanting to and the last fill I had was September so not too shabby? However, last time I went to the Fill Center Location In Thornton, Colorado because I am a needle phobe and wanted the security of having fluro and that was the closest location at the time. But when I got there, even though they specifically said if I wanted fluoro I would have to be the last appointment of the day yadda yadda so I literally went all day without eating and he said they don't do fluoro unless he could not find the port! Even though I asked for it!

So after all that time they spent assuring me he could do it no problems, sure enough he couldn't find my port and left my entire stomach bloody and a huge hole in it (well huge compared to the needle) because all he did was dig around to try to find it! So I did get my fluoro but after I had to endure all of the pain that I wanted to avoid with the fluoro. So my question is for those who have gone to Mexico recently have you had any trouble as far as Marshall Law being declared? I know that with the package they will pick you up and set up the hotel and that will be no problem, but what about crossing the border or any violence close to the hotel etc. I would really like for the guys in TJ to do my fill because they were wonderful the first time, but am just worried about all that political stuff on both sides, especially while crossing the border.

If this is not possible how many of you have been filled in Vegas? Do they let you choose fluoro and actually do it before they butcher you? I live in the Texas Panhandle so my choices are pretty limited as far as center close that offer fluoro but any suggestions would be very helpful!

That's what I was thinking, despite all of the rumors and incessant negativity towards TJ I never felt uncomfortable there, but you know the family! I would like to know who has been to the fill center in Vegas and if they would recommend it, my hubby's choice....not because he doesn't want to go to Mexico, but just loves Vegas haha!

If you are really concerned about going to Mexico, pay for the transportation from the airport to the center and back, that way you're only outside of the van when you're right in front of OCC.

That's what I was planning on just because my husband is worried, but great idea Evette and that most likely how it will happen. I'm not too worried because nobody has had any problems on here but ya know how family worries :)

I wanted to go to Vegas too, but Fill Centers USA said they only do flouro one Sat a month, and as of 2 days ago, they still didn't know what Sat in April. So I have decided to go back to TJ, and I am going to just pay for the transportation to and from the border...it's worth the hassle.

When I first considered going to Mexico for my surgery, I was concerned about my safety based on media reports. After doing some research, I believe I will be as safe as I am in Chicago. Like Chicago, Tijuana is a big city with over 2 million residents. Like Chicago, Tijuana has good parts and bad parts. I exercise caution when I am in Chicago and I will exercise caution when I am in Tijuana.

I emailed OCC and asked about the violence in Mexico and I received several replies:

  1. "All the violence is not near the clinic or hotel, we are in a safe zone."
  2. "The violence in Tijuana is not affecting the area near our clinic or hotel. None of our patients has ever had any trouble while with us! I take my kids with me when we go, they love it there and I always feel very safe!"
