want2bskinny
We were thinking of driving to vegas...Do you think it is too much after surgery? or would it be okay and have a nice drive to vegas ( I will be driving)? Basically, here is the itinerary I am planning: April 16 - surgery apr 17 - release from OCC, then head to revolutionary ave for some shopping april 18 - check out from hotel in the AM then head to the airport to get the rental car, then drive to vegas Apr 18 - get to vegas, just walk the strip, sightseeing, stay in hotel for the night april 19- hotel checkout in the AM then drive back to san diego April 19 to april 20 - go around san diego April 20 at night - flight back to FL What do you think? Is it too much for newly banded patient? What about you, what did you do after your surgery? Did you stay in San Diego? What did you do? Thanks for your input in advance. DEC
Everyone seems to be a little different. I was banded last Monday (3/30). On Tuesday after leaving OCC I walked about 3 miles. Flew home the next day and have been walking several miles a day on my treadmill. Based on my experience I would not have concerns about your itinerary. Others have had more discomfort however, so it will just depend on you and how well you feel. Sorry...I know that is not much help... >
BandDiva
I live in Texas and almost drove it, but didn't. Anyway, my patient care coordinator told me that I would be fine, but that I would have to stop frequently so I wasnt sitting in one place for too too long. I would suggest the same for you. Lindsay
i consider myself one of those quick healers, but i was shocked at how yucky i felt after surgery. i had big plans for shopping, too .. but i ended up spending 2 full days in the hotel, sleeping. on the 3rd day, i had a long flight (8hrs) back home, and then a 4 hour drive back into Toronto from Buffalo. and i felt horrible. sitting for so long was very difficult, and was horribly painful most of the time due to the excess gas you'll be experiencing. my immune system had been challenged, and i quickly developed 2 cold sores on my mouth. and it took me a good 2 weeks just to feel okay again. once i got back home, i also caught a terrible flu ... my point: everyone is very different. and everyone will recover differently. as i mentioned, i had big plans on shopping, and walking around to see what i could. but i ended up sleeping the entire time. my boyfriend got bored by day 2, and he went golfing. i personally wouldn't make plans like that. they sound different to re-schedule should you not be up to it.
