Damn those girl guides!!!

Recommended Posts

So the sweet little girl-guides are out knocking on doors, selling their cookies again. I bought some mint ones last time they were around and still have all 4 boxes. That's how good I've been about staying awy from the junk.

Well, I bought one box of the cream-filled ones just to be nice and since my kids witnessed the transaction, there was no hiding them. They wanted some cookies and milk before bed. I said yes and decided to join them for one.....I mean two (have to try both flavours, right?). Oops, did I just eat THREE? How is it that I don't feel any tightness in my chest? It's a MIRACLE, maybe I'll have one more.....FOUR FREAKIN COOKIES BEFORE BED!!!!

This morning the scale was up one pound....and I deserved it!

We all do it, and its OK - I let myself have treats one day and just eat less the next - that's realy what my doctor pushes as well so we don't feel deprived and we get to live life!

(Girl Scout cookies are traditional this time of the year and they don't work without milk)

mmmmmm - sounds good even in the morning....

I was in Girl Guides for 14 years so I know all to well how good the cookies are! They were by my door the other night, I gave them $20 and told them to keep the cookies! Well I told the parent that was with them to let the girls eat the cookies while they were going door to door or at their next meeting!

Made me feel good to pass them up!

Sabrina I love reading your posts! :) I don't think we should give up anything with our band. Now, saying that, I obviously dont keep junk food in my house any more! lol I think we need to treat ourselves from time to time. What I am learning everyday with the band is it helps when we cheat. I can't eat, or if I do junk it is not much of it & I don't do it all the time. I am afraid that my binge eating on sweets and chips would start again if I stocked a bunch in my house. I did however buy a box of Samoas last month, you just reminded me as they are unopened. hehe

OMG I dont want them knocking on my door, they are my weakness. I guess I will do the same as Jenelle give a donation and let them keep the cookies.

I will volunteer to save you ALL from Girl Scout Cookies or Girl-Guide cookies or even OREOS for that matter. Just mail all of them to me, and I will discard them for you, at no charge. Just let me know how many boxes you're sending so I'll be sure to have enough milk on hand!

Sabrina I know how you feel! But I have one even better...I am a Girl Scout Leader and happen to be the mom in charge of cookie sales for the whole troop. I had over 4500 boxes of cookies at my house this year. Thank goodness our cookie sale time is over. I ate one cookie before I was banded and waaahooo havent touched one since. Its hard though...I know right where you are coming from. For me Girl Scout cookies are just one of those trigger foods that if I eat one...I will eat the whole stinken box. So I refrain.

Just remember that the band is a tool to help us live life to its fullest! A cookie isnt going to do long term damage just modify your eating and exercise the next day to balance it out!

Keep up the great work...you look FABULOUS!!!

Sabrina, Just say No...lol.....You crack me up, I too love reading your post. It is so hard to keep away from the "slider" food. I cant understand how cookies, chips, the no no foods can go down so easy! Hey I have an idea, Maybe you need to send them to Angela and she can take them to that girl who hogs the machine at her gym..lol...

You are doing great, keep up the good work!

4 cookies are not enough to make you gain 1lb of body weight, just so you know. I wouldn't beat yourself up about it.

LOL...too funny Sabrina...thanks for the laughs! OK, I am guilty of buying cookies from my granddaughter, who is a Daisy...which means I've got another 8 years or so with her selling them...groan! BUT, I do eat them! Yes, I treat myself to the thin mints ~ ONLY (2) and that's it. I can do this because I know that I can have more...later.

But, there IS a catch. I have to have an 8 oz glass of water FIRST, then do some form of fitness...walking, Turbo Jam, household duties, whatever...THEN I can have the (2) cookies. Sometimes, by the time I do all that, I am not hungry for them anymore....which either annoys me because I felt I wasted my time to do these things OR feels great that I did my water drinking, got some chores that needed to be done, and felt elated I didn't eat them right away.

But don't stop eating your favorites...just know you need to be mindful of how much you eat. If you are going to have a 'treat'...RIGHT AWAY, cut your portion out...whether it's two cookies, a sliver of a pie, 1/2 cup f real ice cream, whatever, and put the rest away where it belongs, away from your reach. Then take the time to eat it slowly, ENJOY your treat and relish the goodness of it without feeling guilty.

Life goes on...
