What do you eat in one day?

Recommended Posts

I have:

breakfast: Slimfast with 1/2 scoop of Protien Powder added - 20 grams of Protien

Lunch: 1/2 cup of light cottage cheese and some roast beef slices - 25 grams of protien

Snack: either string cheese or small amount of veggies -

Dinner: What ever I make for my husband, but I don't do the noodles. If we are having Spaghetti, I put the sauce and meet on top of lettuce. Tonight we are having steak and steamed veggies and he will have a baked potatoe aswell. I usaully get about 3 oz of steak and then some veggies.

After dinner snack: Honestly I love Skinny Cow ice creams. I don't have one every night but if I want one I have one....

Hope this helps..

Also I try to drink 102 oz of water every day.

I love using spaghetti squash when I make the noodle dishes for my husband, it has even gotten him to eat more veggies!!! You could try that to get that some "spaghetti" effect but stick with your hard work and get the veggies you need! You had great examples I think I might need to try eating cottage cheese. Thanks for the break down!

Hi,

I am kind of new at this was banded on 3/2/09 so haven't been eating reg food long.

some suggestions i have is, i like fat free or low fat cottage cheese with a little pesto on it, if the family has speggetti I put the sause on cottage cheese (got that from mother in law had bypass 20+ yrs ago), for lunch i have found flavored tuna (high protein) my fav so far is sweet/tangy with little mayo onion and garlic and instead of using bread i use a lettus leaf or cuccumber. usually use sllim fast or drinkable yogurt, another dish my m.i.l has made which is good is zuccini pizza, cut in half length wise, cut out seeds and saute with meat and tomatoe sauce put back in zuccini cover with fat free cheese and bake! it is good!

hope this helps!

hey

Now that I have had my second fill, my eating has changed alot.

Breakfast: Protein shake or small chocolate milk

Lunch: usually a small frozen meal and no i do not finish it

dinner: usually some type of chicken breast and 1 veggie.

Snack: I have the 100 calorie snacks and sometimes have one after dinner but not always.

I drink 150-200oz of water a day. nothing else other than milk.

The hardest thing for me is to eat slowly, especially if I am really hungry before I begin eating so I try not to wait until I get to that point because I know I am going to eat too fast and have the pain in my chest. Its been a stressful week a work and thats happened a couple of times. :(

Good luck to you!

Here are a few ideas of things that I have on a regular day.

Breakfast:

Protein shake

Eggbeaters with a piece of turkey bacon

Weight Control Oatmeal

Lunch:

Wendy's chili

lunchmeat, veggies, and an apple

starkist tuna pack and veggies or cottage cheese

Dinner:

Weight Waters or Lean Quisine meals

Chicken breast marinated and baked in italian dressing and veggies

Small steak and veggies

Most of these I can only eat a small amount of, so i'll eat a couple bites of meat then a couple bites of veggies until i'm content. Everyone is different on what they can tolerate, but these are still good for me right now. I keep a journal daily of what I eat and keep an eye on how much protein I get and that is about it.

I find this discussion amazing. I was banded in Aug 07 and have lost 53 kg's (I have no idea how many pounds this is) I live in Cape Town, South Africa. My friend was banded the year before and has lost 72 kg's. We both eat whatever we want.

I eat any time of day or night, any food I desire, BUT in really small quantities.

I found for the 1st year that certain foods didnt go down, but now almost everything does.

I take a multi-vitamin every morning, prescribed by my surgeon, and am healthy - even though I never exercise.

I suppose Im a bad example to people eating healthy diets post op, but I had the op because diets just werent working for me, I had no self-control, and now I am thin and LOVE going out, am not afraid of 'frail' looking chairs and am comfortable at the cinema.

I did see a eating disorder psychologist for 2 years post op, and we have worked on my eating disorder together, so I hope, one day, if I empty my band (which is almost full, and has been for about a year) I will be able to continue eating small quantities regularly.

Good luck guys!

I remember asking this question to a lady who had been successful with the band (lost over 100#'s) at a seminar at NWWLS in Washington when I first started researching. We asked her what she'd eaten that day and her answer was, "a latte for breakfast, two strawberries for lunch, and 2 chicken strips for dinner.". My mom and I just about fell over. It actually put me off having this surgery....I thought that can not be healthy.

Now I see that type of eating is typical of people who have lost LOTS of weight with the band. I'm not there yet. I eat WAY more than that and often wonder if that's how little I'm going to have to eat to get to where I want to be....another 50 or so pounds. I can see how easy it will be to "maintain" a healthy weight eating three small meals per day but to actually LOSE another 50, I'm afraid that, I too, will have to eat about 600 cals per day at most. That seems to be my magic number.

Valley Girl, you should eat 6 small meals a day. Three basics and two in between (my 6th meal is after dinner). Keep your metabolism up and your tummy full. If you feel you can eat to much maybe you should get your band filled a tad. Im not a doctor, but this has worked for me, and I eat after dinner. With such small portions I tend to get hungry every couple of hours and eat a snack. I dont know if you can see my before and after pics, I tried loading them, but Im new here and might have got it a bit wrong. I lost all my weight in 2 years and have maintained for another year.

Twoflower99, your pictures are up and you look incredible!

Congrats - such an amazing difference!

Best!

Lisa

Thanks, people think its the 'easy' way out, but it certainly isnt! Its hard work (not as hard as dieting!!)

Thanks so much for the compliment Lisa!
