I'M......... PREGNANT!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

I was banded 4 months ago. I have lost over 50lbs. I have been married 11 years and now, finally am pregnant. The main reason I got banded was to help me get pregnant. I am 5 weeks today. I am soooo excited and extremely terrified! I keep having awful thoughts that I am going to miscarry. I have read in a couple of places that people with lapbands have higher incidences of miscarriage. Has anybody heard that? If so, do you know why? I am praying for a healthy pregnancy and would love if all of you would also say a quick prayer for me. Thank you!

Congradulations! That is so awesome! I totally recommend the website "What to Expect When You Are Expecting." When I was pregnant, I became a member of this forum/board and it was so cool. I was a December 2007 Momma. It was such an awesome expierence! Many of us keep in touch on facebook now. I loved our group, we became so close and when you are going through the same things at the same time it is fun as well as educational. I will say that our board had a few drama moments due to hormones ect.

Yay for you!

Thanks everyone. I think I am still in disbelief. My OB doesn't see pt's till after the 8th week. I spoke to her today because I am having some cramping. I wasn't too impressed with her. I told her I was banded and she immediately said that I should have waited for 1 year before getting pregnant. I felt like I was being scolded. Then she went on to say that she was going to refer me to a High Risk OB because I was banded. Well, if that meant that I wouldn't have to see her, I am all for it. Are any of the other mom to be's going to a high risk OB?

I was high risk. I got the best care, my Dr was wonderful and I loved her very much. I personally think it is very important to like your Dr. After all you are trusting them with the most important job, bringing your baby safely into the world. One bonus about being high risk, was I got to have an ultra sound at every apt! It is the coolest thing ever to see your baby!

On a side note, a good friend of mine is on her 3rd baby with the band. She has never been high risk with any of them. Not to metion, had no issues what so ever with any of her pregnancies. Plus, she dropped the baby weight like a rock star after she had her boys. How great is that!?

OH SARAH!!! HOW WONDERFUL!!!!

I remember how very clearly you wanted this. I remember how you told us that you were doing the band for that reason as well. I will never forget the look on your face. It was heartbreaking. I stopped at that minute and WILLED a baby in your womb. (I do realize I had NOTHING to do with the child growing there now. :)) But I am saying a prayer of thanks because I KNOW you will be such an awesome mother. I only knew you for a few hours but you inspired me. Congrats on everything. If you remember I had 4 lost pregnancies without the band, so if you ever need anything, I am so here. Let me know how you feel, any sickness? I am so very very happy for you. Some people just deserve this miracle more, and you are definatley one of them.

Heidi- Thank You! I started crying when I was reading your response. It must be the hormones! As far as morning sickness goes- I dont know if its my band or if its morning sickness. When I would PB before it was from above the band. But now, its from below. So I am guessing its mornig sickness! Just praying I dont miscarry.

I have no experience or words of wisdom as far as pregnancy and the band, but just wanted to say congrats! Many people once the weight starts coming off seem to become much more fertile so i'm sure your great weight loss was a key factor in you getting pregnant!

Congrats again and keep us in the loop on how you are doing!

SooooooooExcited for you!!!! I'm sure you and your husband and your mother are so happy. How are you feeling now? It's been about a month since the news, and I just saw the post. You did an amazing job with weight loss. I have stayed at about 30#'s down. Quick go take a new passport photo, remeber they weren't sure it was you at the border?! I'm sure you look amazing.

Say Hi to your family from Shawn and I.

Congrats on the pregnancy! I haven't posted on here in such a long time ... or even come to the website but i thought today I would check in and see how everyone is doing!

I had to put the weight loss on the back burner for 9 months as I too am pregnant. I've had no issues with the band while being pregnant and even though I wanted to wait until I got to my goal weight --- some things you just can't prevent :) I had two previous miscarriages prior to being banded and so happy this this one was finally able to "stick".

I lost 10 pounds at the beginning and I've only gained about 3 pounds in total .... and I find that I'm still losing inches! I went from wearing an XXL at the Gap to now wearing a Large t-shirt. My jeans, I've lost inches on my hips and butt (hey I'm not complaining!) so it looks like I've got poopy pants. I'm not trying to lose any weight, I just keep eating healthy food... but I think my metabolism is in high gear.

Definitely looking forward to the beast coming out in September though :) I'm excited to meet her and start this weight loss journey again! I start 24 weeks tomorrow ..... Congrats and all the best!!

Alana :)

CONGRATULATIONS!

My friend got pregnant after a year of being banded. Her band, however, was filled almost to its maximum capacity. so when she found out she was pregnant, she went and had her band unfilled some because she wanted to be able to eat more during pregnancy. Not sure if that was a good idea because she gained all her weight back and some more.

She tightened it again after giving birth, but it hasn't made a difference. so talk to your doctor about how much you should be eating. I wish I would've had the band during my pregnancies. a lot of times I just ate because I thought I had an excuse to (and now having a hard time losing the weight). Technically, when pregnant, we should only be consuming about 300 calories more a day not double.

Congrats once again and keep us posted on how you're doing.
