fatgirlnomore Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Will going to fitness bootcamp hurt my lapband. I am concerned about the situps mostly. My band slipped once before and I had to replace it. I do not want to go through that again but I really would like to join this program. Any thoughts?
robbynnoel Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 ((((((((((((((((Thin Girl)))))))))))))))))) I'd love to know more about the fitness bootcamp your considering! Hugs.
fatgirlnomore Posted April 24, 2009 Author Report Posted April 24, 2009 just google adventure fitness boot camp and they have locations all over the country. They are pretty reasonable also.
Jnlebean Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 I would absolutly join, but maybe let your instructor know that you cannot do sit ups and its not an excuess , you can let them know why you cant or not. Hey they might even have an exersice that you can do to help your abs but is more gentle than a sit up! Jenelle
nothereanymore Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 I've done a fitness boot camp and I'm now into cross fit, I do lots of sit ups and abs (a couple hundred in one session at least). No problems with the port as long as you're not within 90 days of your surgery. I haven't ever heard of a slip caused by doing abs. Go for it, I can't tell you how nice it is to actually have a waistline and curves. Ab work is the way!
fatgirlnomore Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 Thanks for the replies! I really would like to do this, I think that it will help kickstart some weightloss. I have been stuck around 200 for some time now.

If you don't mind sharing why your band slipped, I always like hearing these stories so I know what could cause it and what to watch out for. Thanks. Sabrina:)

Thanks.Sabrina:) SABRINA, HERE IS PART OF AN EMAIL I GOT FROM A MEMBER OF THIS BOARD THAT LAST HER BAND RECENTLY. SHE'S TO EMBARRASSED TO POST ON IT BUT IT'S A GOOD REMINDER OF WHY THERE ARE RULES TO BE FOLLOWED I don't follow rules about food well. I just don't. Those last 4 months I was using the band as a purge machine. Paid dearly for that bad behavior. It seemed so harmless because there was no pain involved. The food came back up so easy... Ohhh I am a bad girl. I'm looking for a new approach here
