does heartburn have to equal an unfill?

Recommended Posts

I've been having heartburn the past few days (burning in the back of my throat) and I have pb'd twice in two days; however it is my TOM. I have read that heartburn means you are too tight. I can drink normally and can eat normally most of the time so I'm hesitant to unfill but if heartburn is, in fact, dangerous, I need to know so I can arrange an unfill. Can it wait a few days or does this warrant an emergency unfill? Again, no problems with liquids at all.

IF IT WERE ME, I'D WAIT AND SEE SINCE OLD TOMS INVOLVED. TAKE AN ANTIACID LIKE ZANTAC AND GO BACK ON LIQUIDS FOR A DAY

I would stick with the liquids and wait for a few days. Heartburn for me didn't equal being too tight, it equaled a barely functioning gallbladder. I now take Prilosec OTC every other day and do just fine. Although, the last time I had it was Thursday morning before my surgery and so far so good. I may wait it out and see how long I can go before it comes back. Of course, I am being very careful to eat soft foods and still chew the living daylights out of them. Having something get stuck and have to come back up right now would probably kill me, and if it didn't, I would want it to.

I agree, I'm traveling right now for business and the heart burn the last couple of nights was awful. I’m on liquids only and I’m going to see what happens when I take it easy and give my band a break – if it keeps up I’m going to finally go in for the complete unfill. (Traveling equals stress for me and I have a lot of work to do).

Stick to liquids bring in soft food after a few days and see how it reacts once the TOM is done.

Best,

Lisa

Sorry to hear this heartburn is happening to you too Lisa. I just talked to the sweet Dr. Martinez on his cell (I can't believe I can just call the surgeon like that!). He agrees on liquids for a few days until I can get an unfill. He says a complete unfill is the way to go....and then start with a smaller fill in a few weeks. Not what I wanted to hear, but better to be safe than sorry.

Something similar happened to me. I thought I was having heartburn & indigestion...but what it really was I was too tight. I would eat at night between 5-7pm and then like between 2-5am I would wake up with reflux junk in my mouth. It would make me cough and cough. So I called Dr. Ortiz and he said I was too tight and that it wasn't reflux but rather some food that didn't go down all the way...coming back up. Really gross. So I had a total unfill for a week, and then have slowly increased my fill. Unfortuneatly I have gained back about 5 pounds over the last 2 weeks...despite me exercising...GOOD LUCK with this!
