RachieRoo
Anyone else out there experiencing hair loss/thining? My hair was fine to begin with, but I am noticing a lot of thin and sparse areas around my face. I was banded on 5/14 and I have lost 45 pounds. I read somewhere that it is not unusual to have hair loss with weight loss. Some research stated that people will get their hair back, and some do not. I also read that vitamins and hair treatments work for some people. I was wondering if anyone out there had any input or suggestions on this topic? How about you seasoned bandsters? Thanks! Clynn
Most often when people are losing their hair it's because they're not getting enough protein. How many grams are you getting per day?
jhawkchick75
Ditto! That usually equals not enough nutrients. I got some protein bullets for those days i don't get enough and it helped.
BrandNewDawn
My hair was fine up until about the one year mark, then it really stated falling out. I have been taking BIOTIN along with my daily vitamins and it seems to be helping. I think less hair is falling out now. I am just happy I did not end up with bald spots! determination
I have lost hair and it scares me. I like Brandnewdawn have fine hair. I have lost on top above my forhead. I started taking biotin from the beginning and I do eat high proteins. Today I have already had 54grams. Hopefully, (and I keep watching) my hair will grow back! By the way Clynn, I think I must have had some sort of virus. It lasted for over a week. As of today I feel great. I am though planning a trip to TJ just to make sure everything is Okay. Thank you very much for your input.
vickiruss
I have thick hair, but with as much as I am loosing it won't be for long. My bathroom floor looks like it has a carpet on it there is sooooo much hair on it 2days after cleaning it. I pull fist fulls out of the hair brush every time I use it, and every time I was my hair. It is making me sick!!!! I am not one for make up, and have never been happy with my looks. My hair has been the one thing sooo many people have complimented me on and now it is dry and brittle and falling out. I went for a fill Monday at the fill center usa, Kathy was awesome I talked to her about it and she wants me to get a FULL thyroid panel and a cmp at the dr. She said it could be lack of protein or it could be my thyroid! Who knows. I think I read somewhere that it will grow back!
RachieRoo
I definately get plenty of protein every day. I read somewhere that it can take a month or so before a protein/vitamin deficiency will affect the hair. I am 2 months post-op, so I am wondering if my hair is falling out from the stringent pre/post-op diets? Who knows... I know that I followed Dr. Miranda's diet exactly as it was printed. Hopefully I will see improvements in the coming weeks. Thank you all for responding!
