twistedsister
Hello, I have been reading many of the posts here and I want to say thank you for all of the wonderful information. I am having surgery on 8/13, I am very excited and very nervous . I have been having some bloating on the pre op diet, does anyone have any idea what might be the cause? I have seen some post that describe people eating solid meals the night before surgery, will I be able to eat the night before surgery? Any info or advice would be appreciated. twistedsister
Smiley
Where are you being banded at? That will depend on whether or not you can eat the night before surgery.
tootsie_lou
Hi TwistedSister (love your forum name ) Our instructions stated to "arrive fasting on day of pre-ops/surgery (8-hour fast)". So I suppose if you were scheduled to get to the clinic at 8am, you could theoretically eat up until 12 midnight. We didn't eat the night before. The travel day was filled with a lot of drama (including luggage that didn't make it with us), and we were glad to get to the hotel and dive into our beds. All the best to you, and good luck on 8/13!!

Iam going to Dr. O in TJ have been doing the pre diet for a week now, so i guess it should not matter if i eat the last day, would be nice to have a taco. I guess my question should be can you have all foods or do you keep eating the pre-diet to the last day?
tootsie_lou
I cannot imagine that I a taco would hurt anything. Some have posted here that they have eaten what could be called "their last meal"--haha. If you are staying at the Lucerna, their Tortilla soup was delcious. But there will pleny of time for soup in the post-op--have the taco!
jhawkchick75
I had a huge feast the day before, but I planned on eating light on my last night. They got me in for surgery a day early so that wasn't my intention to eat that much. I have heard people say they go light the night before, but many have enjoyed some yummie Mexican food the night before. I was in San Diego the night before so I had seafood! I know you are not supposed to eat but I did the night before at a restaurant in the Lucerna. All of the other ladies being banded the same day as me did as well. Just don't over do it!
