EricaG
From all my research and reading everyone's wonderful posts I realized getting the Band isnt just about getting it and forgetting. I understand there is this thing called "fills" that determines the restriction on the band and so on... I just want to make sure i can afford this before i jump on the band-wagon (hehe) I can manage paying for the procedure but how much do the fills usually cost? thank you all in advance. If you go to Dr. Ortiz's office they are $100. I had my surgery in January and have had two fills a few months in between eachother, and I was told I was done. I think I have a little too much in so I am going down there this weekend to get a little taken out cause it is to tight, this will cost me $30. The fills cost more if you go to a local Dr. and dont live near TJ, I am in southern CA so driving to TJ isn't much for me as far as travel, but if your flying in, I would include the flight, plus arrangments for the office to pick you up in your budget. You may be better off going somewhere local, but I would suggest going to TJ at least for your first one so they can check and make sure its all good. CatiE
The fills at the OCC cost $100.00. They offer packages for hotel & transportation which come to around $279.00. I make a 5 hour car trip to get my fills there. It's well worth it for me as I am already familiar with them and trust them. The fluoroscopy enables the docs to give a better fill too. ValleyGirl
If you're in SoCal I'd just go to OCC. It's at least $100 everywhere else and most places don't offer fluoro. As far as how may you will need, I have had to pay for eight fills and unfills in nine months...never could get to a fill level of "that's just right" until now! It's cost me over $1000 but can be claimed on my taxes. Sabrina:)
