I was banded on September 8th, and am just now able to eat!!! No more liquids..WooHoo!

Anyway, my question is: when I do eat, am I allowed to drink with it? I know I am not supposed to once I have a fill, but is the same true for now before my first fill? Any info would be most excellent!

Thank you,

Jessica

No drinking with meals. You need to wait 45 minutes to an hour before any liquid. That is the hardest part for me, so I will suck on a piece of hard candy during this time and that helps.

Regardless of fill or not you shouldn't drink and eat. Food is gonna go through your band faster until you are filled, but it can still cause problems. Good time to start practicing the 45-60 minute rule.

I know that it is not good to eat with meals and should you wait until 1 hour before drinking.

Can you drink right up until you start to eat

To answer your question, really you should limit your drinks 1/2 before you eat. I practice the 1/2 hr before and 45 to 1 hr after. As soon as you retrain yourself, it is a snap! I don't have a problem doing it anymore at all. It's second nature now. I do drink 60 oz of non calorie liquids almost daily. Maybe that is why I don't have issues....not sure.....
