LisaLaw
The plateau hit at the end of March, it was truly awful, I got down to 178 and then popped right back up to 182 within a week and never fell below 180 after that. I had spinal neurosurgery on my neck at the end of September and decided to NOT get an unfill as the neurosurgeon said I would be fine. Thankfully I listened. I also decided to NOT get on the scale back in September because I was very frustrated with not falling under 180 lbs. Two weeks ago I pulled on this cute dressy skirt I have and went "whoa...I feel skinnier" and immediately went to the scale and viola...176 lbs. I was very hesitant to get excited because I had been there before only to go right back up to 180. So I waited. Then I stepped on the scale just the other day and I am still at 176 lbs. The plateau is gone! My point is this. We all lose differently. I have seen some people drop 10-15 lbs per month, while people like me feel thankful to have lost 55 lbs in a year. I am crazy in love with this band and am so thankful to have found Dr. Ortiz and his wonderful staff. If not for this band, I would be at least 250 lbs by now...frustrated and emotionally abusing myself for being so fat. Instead my husband calls me "hot" and looking forward to getting the remaining 35 lbs OFF...instead of ON For those of you who have hit a plateau or have not hit one yet, don't give up...just stay off the scale for a bit to keep your sanity and keep up the bandster habits of small portions (and the right items). jhawkchick75
So very true! We all lose at different rates and that does not mean we are failing. I lost maybe 10 lbs from May until now, but I've been still working hard and working out and I don't feel bad about it at all. You cannot compare yourself to others and must be proud of your accomplishments. I say take it 1,5, 10 lbs at a time whatever works for you and appreciate all you have accomplished. Enjoy all of it!! MrsParris
Thanks for this post. I have been in the 170's since the end of May. I got as low as 170 then up and down. I blame all the vacations I was fortunate enough to go on and my own inconsistencies. I realize that the closer I get to my goal the harder it gets. I have recently upped the exercise and water intake and eating less carbs and I see the scales going down again. Congratulations on breaking your plateau and hopefully you won't be in the 170's as long as I was/am. I refuse to give up and I am glad to hear that you didn't either. bogiesmom
Thank you for reminding me about this! I attended a WW meeting about 18 months ago and the hour long discussion was all about plateaus and how long the can last. There was one woman there who had a plateau that was over a year and another one who had a plateau for over 6 months. The meeting leader was approaching a year in her plateau and she mentioned that she had to finally give up anything white in her diet just to break it and finally reach goal. It seems like the closer you get to goal the harder it gets and we have to go the extra mile just to get it.
LisaLaw
Thank you so much everyone for the great comments and encouragement. I really believe what did it for me was cutting out sugar as the 'white' stuff is not on my menu anyways for obvious reasons! LOL I think when it really hits is when I get down to 160 and only have 20 lbs left. In fact, I just realized that the last time I weighed 170 is when I got married in 1998 and I am only 5 lbs away from that!! (holy cow!)
