EJ01111
I am 10 days post op and I have been doing beautifully. Last night I took a bite (which I should not have) of my husband's sandwich, I had "graduated" to mashed potatoes and thought a tiny bite would not hurt. BOY ! was I wrong. I immediately realized I made a HUGE mistake. We were traveling overnight from Thanksgiving and my husband made me drive. So, between the larger than "tiny" bite and the begining of car sickness, I started to vomit. It was all mucus but it was over the course of an hour. It was not violent but I am terrified that I have done something to my lapband. My port area still sore from the surgery, seems to hurt a bit more now, but it could be from me poking at it to make sure it is still there ! I delibertly took more of my protein drink than usual to see if I would get my "fullness" feeling, that was 2 hrs ago and I still have that feeling. Am I just completely overreacting ? CalKev
EJO, I am so sorry you had to go through the situation that occured to you. Contact OCC directly for questions like this. They can be the most help. If you feel it is an emergency call Dr. Ortiz on his cell phone number he gave you. I so hope you feel better soon and get the answers you need. RogerF
EJO, What your describing sounds more to me like a "PB' and "Sliming". That's one of the ways the band works. Eating something too big and gets stuck and all the mucus/saliva builds up behind it and comes back up. During the first few weeks you are healing, and part of that is to protect yourself against this happening. You're probably OK, just take it easy on your band and yourself during this phase and follow you Dr's instructions. Roger
cleo6666
I am PBing and sliming Occasionally now (maybe 1-2 times a week) and it's been 4 months since my surgery. My friends are very worried that I am going to ruin my band if I don't stop. I don't do it on purpose. Any suggestions? Thanks. M
Chelley
We all slime and PB .. that is just part of band life. Excessive forceful vomitting is different and can cause harm to your band. When you have a slimming/PB episode go back to liquids for the remainer of the day to allow some of the swelling from irritation to dissipate. The irriation will cause your band to feel tighter and you'll just contiue the PB'ing. This is the way in which the band works to modify your old behaviors/habits. cleo6666
Thanks for the advice ladies. I'm actually doing a lot better lately. My scale isn't moving, but I'm not getting sick and I really like that! It's still a daily challenge to figure out what goes down well and what doesn't. I guess that is just part of lapband living! It's snowing and cold in Seattle. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! Michele
LoriBecky
You can avoid PBing and sliming by eating slowly, chewing thoroughly and not drinking while you are eating. Don't worry too much about the scale not moving. My scale didn't move much in the month of September but my inches kept coming off. It started moving again in October and though I'm slowing down, I'm still really happy with my progress and getting closer to my goal all the time If you seem to be having more of a problem with PBing or sliming try going on liquids for a day or two and them start eating slowly and chewing well. Sometimes you can cause an irritation at your band from repetitive PBing and the only way to relieve it is to give your band a break and relax a bit. I seem to do much better if I avoid soft bread type food (muffins, bread, stuffing!). If you want the scale to move, stick with your post-op eating plan... protein first, then greens, then fruits and carbs last. It really does help (oh... and this is for you Chelley) drink your water!!! I want to thank Kevin (CalKev) for helping me keep our board clean... he is our official SPAMINATOR. He can answer general questions about his experience with the band, but please, if you have specific questions, contact me or someone at the clinic, and as always, if you have a concern, use the cell phone numbers you were given at the clinic and if you feel you have an emergency, call 911 or go to your local emergency room I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving! CalKev
Lori and Board Members, Well I have never been called a "Garbage Man" in public usually this only happens at my own home. If ugly spam shows up on the board I'll get rid of it asap. With so much good stuff going on here it is such a shame when the forum becomes a disposal site for advertising garbage. To reaffirm what Lori said I am not affiliated with OCC and all opinions are my own and do not represent those of OCC, Lori or my own employer. I am a volunteer that is attempting to help Lori keep the board full of good info and spam-free for all. Spaminator Kevin

My first registration was elainegreen the pass word was sassie123 I think. I got tired of trying to access so now I just gave a different email address and registered with a different name. Let me know what happened if you can find out. Oh, I am doing pretty good since Oct 24th surgery. I lost 27 pounds!! I eat very little and am not hungry. Some days are better than others , food goes down easy some days not so easy. There have been a few times when I thought I swollowed a knife !! Fried foods are a real no no !! ha ha( they always were)now they actually hurt. I go for my fill on Jan 8. I should need it by then, I really want this to work. I found liquid vitamins in Costco, now all I have to do is take them, I have a history of buying them an looking at them every day. Talk to you soon if this registration holds. Concerning your account I am forwarding to Lori. I see your account and your posts under elainegreen username but like you mentioned the system is not recognizing the account as active. Lets see if she can kick it up a notch and find out what the issue may be. Best wishes! Kevin

Spaminator Kevin Speaking of Spam I am getting very frustrated because i get all of these derogatory lapband emails and some emails from the forum. I turned my off my setting to unscribe and i am still getting about 12 emails or more a day on nothing that has to do with banding but the email is from the lapbandforum. Please tell me how to remove myself from getting email at all. Thanks
EJ01111
Hello everyone, First I am totally fine it was sliming (yuck). Secondly, I feel AWFUL, I am not a patient of Dr. Ortiz. I live on the East Coast and I was looking for an on line support group for the Lap Band. I found it with you wonderful people. I would like to stick around and discuss everyone's concerns, progress etc. Unless I see any objections, I will check in ? Thanks, EJ
mommyrkr
Of course no objections. It is nice to have a place to ask questions and so many people who have gone before us to help answer them. Wishing you lots of luck and no more PBing. cleo6666
> Welcome! We might have different doctors but we are all still "lapbanders". This is a great forum and you will learn so much about living with your band. I just past 4 months since my surgery and I'm still experimenting with how my band works. Some days are tough. Most days are good. Nothing right now compares to how good it feels when my pants are looser or I get compliments. What a great feeling. Keep visiting.
