bobtails
I had my banding in august. I lost about 20 lbs during the pre-op and pos-op diet faze. Since then, I've stayed pretty constant. Have only been able to get one fill so far due the weather and the distance I have to drive to get to the fill center. I am discouraged about the lack of weight loss but am also very embarrassed about the amount of unpleasant gas I pass. Any suggestions as to why I have this? Or how to fix it? I didn't have this problem before the banding. Please help Stinky
Lindsay
I have to admit, I only notice my gas smells bad when I eat BAD - ie. pizza, nachos, etc. When i eat clean, my farts don't smell at all. Unless I'm eating a lot of green veggies. Then, stay away! Flatulence contains nitrogen, carbon dioxide, oxygen, methane, and hydrogen sulfide. These are created by the fermentation of undigested foods such as bean skins and veegtable fiber. The hydrogen sulfide and other compounds (mercaptan, butyric acid and carbonyl sulfide) make the released gases smell bad. Humans actually expel little methane compared to ruminants such as cows and sheep.source
bogiesmom
I would suggest bean-o or Gas-X (not the strips since they do not work that great). You might want also add a little prune juice to your diet (2 - 4 ounces every night) to aid in the digestion process.
