StephC2009
Today was my first day of solids. I woke up this morning not as excited as I thought I would be. I was actually a little scared. I drank my coffee and was putting off eating until my stomach was growling like crazy so I made my usual breakfast of Fage nonfat plain yogurt with blueberries and chopped almonds. I used to eat about 1 cup of yogurt with about 1 cup of bluberries and 22 almonds. Today I made it with 1/2 cup yogurt, 1/4 peaches and 8 almonds. I ate it and felt no restriction (chewed slowly and thoroughly of course) and when I was finished I was totally satisfied. For lunch I made a small taco (white flour tortilla, leftover taco meat, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, small amount of cheese). I ate this and was waiting to see how the tortilla went down. It was fine. I was surprised because so many people have issues with tortillas. I was totally satisfied and full after that. Pre-banding I would have eaten twice the amount of yogurt (at least) and at least 2 tacos with maybe something sweet afterwards. Tonight for dinner I made a lasagna and garlic bread. I haven't eaten any yet but I will have a very small portion just to make sure I don't PB or have any other problems. How was your first day on solids??? MyNext30Years
I'm so glad you posted this. It gives me an idea of what to expect! I'm glad to hear that even without a fill you aren't able to eat the same amount!
jhawkchick75
Everyone is different, but I had no restriction until after my 2nd fill and even then it wasn't until my 4th that I really felt like I was at a good spot. But with each time I could definitely eat less! I did the same thing I actually had a protein shake for breakfast b/c I was scared. Lunch was chef boy ardee ravioli and then dinner was pizza (work meeting I had no choice). I was freaked out and took like 30 minutes to eat one piece but it all went down fine. My first stuck episode wasn't until after my 2nd fill - was on an english muffin. Just take your time and if you feel stuck stop right away. Good luck! janellody
Yes, thank you for posting! This first day of solids is something I am scared about, too. I haven't yet started the pre-op diet but I just know when I need to eat solids I am going to take it veerrrryyy slowly. The PBs and slime and all that stuff just scares the heck out of me. Ahhh yes..the first day of solids for me was Nov. 6th 2009. I had been diligent wih my liquid program and for my breakfast on that 'blessed' morning I chickened out and had my Dannon Probiotic yogurt drink at 8:00 a.m & my Dr. Atkins Advantage chocolate shake at 10:00 a.m because they felt so familar and safe!! By noon I was ready for my Lean Cusine. It was SO good..I licked the plate clean!! lol. I am now heading to OCC on the 29th of Jan for my second fill. I'm doing well with the weight loss ( I'm really committed to going to the gym) but I want and need more restriction. Eat healthy foods in small portions, keep you water intake high, and exercise religiously!! You'll do great!! Think of how much fun you'll soon be having buying smaller sizes!!! Cheers!!! slimbutrfly
Well.. My first day wasn't all what I expected as well. As a lot of you guys might know, Ive been chewing and spitting out, So when I took the first bite of an orange I spit it out because I was to afraid to swallow. I eventually ate just a few slices because I was scared. For dinner I had a small portion of enchiladas. I didnt feel full, howwver I didnt want to keep eating. For Friday, (2nd day)..I had crab salad for lunch..I had made it with thses buns that sara lee makes. They are as flat as pita bread, but the effects of a hamburger bun. I did get full after that. For dinner I made spaghetti, salad and garlic bread!! Soo good!. I even felt a little guilty becuase I feel like I ate to much! I guess there will not be any restriction until we get a few fills. I have lost 21lbs since Dec 5th, however last Saturday I weighed 216, I gained 4lbs, having weighed myself this Saturday. I only started eating on Thursday!..I'm a litlle discouraged. I just need to slow down, and not be to excited to eat again.
