damalove
Hi fellow April bandsters - I was there a few weeks ago and they said they won't be using the Marriott b/c of construction, so you'll all most likely be staying at the Lucerna. Its really nice and the OCC menu/room service rocks! Fyi, we found the room service to be faster than service in the restaurant, like its on a different priority with the kitchen, not sure. Maybe time just flies when you're in bed with your feet propped up watching a movie! Try to remember to bring a small throw pillow with you, it will help if you are the type that sleeps on your side, as well as the van/airplane journies.. A hot water bottle will be helpful too, especially right after surgery. And finally, if you get tired of being at the hotel, you can take a cab ride for $4 around the corner to the Rio Plaza VIP Cinepolis, a movie theater that features all leather lazy boy recliners!! talk about comfort. Tickets are cheaper than here too; only $9. Just make sure you go to the VIP theater, bc there's a non VIP theater that just has the regular boring seating. Theres a great grocery store in the same complex as the movie theater, Comerica Mexicana, lots of really great stuff and killer deals on cuban rum Best wishes on your surgeries!!! Thanks for posting that information! Its nice to know things like that since I've never been there. I love the idea of recliners or comfy chairs for the movies! Thanks! I unfortunately blew it on the pre-op diet, so i'm not sure if i will end up getting it done or not, but it's good to hear that you are feeling well after having it done! How long were you 'out' for with anasthesia? Did you struggle with the pre-op diet?
shadiggty
i had this done in south korea where i live and work, paid out of pocket myself (7 million South Korean won = 6314 U.S. dollars) and there was no pre-op diet/testing. I made the appointment, they told me to not eat anything starting midnight the night before, and that was it. i know the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver, but i suspect it's a test of your will as well. Here since you are paying for it, choosing to eat high calorie slider foods is your money thats being wasted. a friend of mine met a woman in the office who had after 6 months only lost 15 lbs. she was older (50's) but the dr said the woman was just not wanting to actually lose weight. whereas my two friends who had this done 6 months ago as well are both down 50 lbs. i didnt have to go through the process of waiting for an insurance company, pre op diet, etc, but i went through a different process. i'd been researching doing this for 2 years, reading everything i could and learning as much as i can. i am not flawless in what i eat now, but omg i eat so much less than i ever did and am much more conscience of if i am really hungry or not. wish i had it done sooner.
