Recommended Posts

Ok.. so here I am two week out since my last fill. I have been taking it easy and doing pretty good. Well... tonight I decided to be brave and try some chicken teryaki and fried rice. Man.. I shouldnt have done that!!! I guess I ate too fast or apparently cant do that kinda chicken or rice. But I got stuck and PBed!!!! OMG.... never again!! I hope my band is okay!

Should I do liquids for a few days or just see how I feel in the morning?

Thanks for any advice!!!!

Those are 2 foods which I have just had to give up. Chicken is doesn't work for me regardless of how much I chew it up, and rice sort of forms a plug in your pouch and gums up in the stoma. So sorry, this happened to you. After I have a PB episode I try to take it easy for at least 24 hours. Liquidy oatmeal, soup and yogurt. Don't worry too much. So much of learning to live with your band and the limitations it gives you is by trial and error!

Thank yall! I am feeling pretty good this morning but I think I am still gonna do liquids and softs for the day. I am usually tight in the morning anyway so I am sure it will be worse today.. so I will just stick with a protein shake for breakfast.

Funmama - yes, it hurt.. it felt like it was a little stuck than very very very full. The PB was actually a relief but its like throwing up so it scared me.. I dont wanna hurt my band. Definitely putting that stuff on my no no list!!!

flaggirl - I think I am definitely puttin rice and baked type chicken on my not to eat list... they go on the list with almost all bread!! You are right.. I am definitely learning!!!

Thanks again!

Yeah, rice was one of the first things on my no no list. My doctor told me after a PB to go on liquids/mushies for about 24 hours and then back to normal. Unfortunately PB'ing is a part of the bandster life, just try to do it as little as possible. Once isn't gonna hurt anything but do try to avoid it but know it will happen again.

I can do chicken but if it is reheated or dry at all it's coming back up. So when I make it at home I marinate it in italian dressing and if out I make sure I have something to dip it in. I know how you feel about it feeling better once you are done. Its an almost instant relief!

Yeah, I have to agree with everyone else. Rice = EVIL. I can have it in soup or something, but not on its own. Chicken depends on how it's cooked... if it's nice and moist, or if I can add a sauce to it, it's not too bad.

I've PB'd a LOT over the past year while my band was too tight, but I never slipped it, so I don't think one episode is going to hurt it. Your stomach may be a bit swollen for a day or so, but then you'll be good to go!

Hi Heather, sounds like you found the Band Gods...ohhh yes I have prayed to them many times...lol ;)

Rice has never given me any problems but have ALOT of others. I agree with what Shelby said as well...I was getting stuck ALOT at lunch and FINALLY figured out I CAN NOT eat food that has been reheated. I have even tried chicken with BBQ sauce and nope not if it is reheated. You did good with the liquids. Welcome to the Journey, this wont be your last, you will learn what you can and what you will RUN from...lol...I know I am STILL learing...

Good Luck to you!

Carrie

I'm about to run out the door (I'm at work waiting for my ride), so I'll just throw you over to this post for now! You can jack that thread, since I started it :)

I often have problems with rice. (which is sad, because it's always been one of my favorite foods)

I am not sure if this has anything to do with the "price of rice" but.....we wash our rice until the water nearly runs clear. (I had not washed rice before I met my husband) I have not had an issue with rice. I will say I keep my portion down to a small spoon full.
