What does having a band FEEL like?

Hi all

I'm in New Zealand and had a band put in palace three weeks ago.

I had a few tiny problems afterward - I always vomit after surgery and despite best measures, did so three or four times the day after my operation. Empty stomach, so just air, but unpleasant. Still unwell two days later, my surgeon, who is great, did an unfill (10ml band, I had 3.5ml in).

All ok now, stomach settled, shoulder pain passed. But now, I just feel like I have vague indigestion all the time. I can eat a reasonable amount, but am trying to keep the volume down, trying to remember to drink before eating etc. But even long after a meal I feel it there.

I'm due to have a fill next week, 8th, and so can ask the surgeon then, but meanwhile I have a small worry that the vomitting has dislodged the band, or pushed stomach through it, as people talk about from time to time. And of course a worry about the cost of putting that right!

Can some of you that have had a band a while tell me, can you feel it? Is the slight indigestion/heartburn feeling normal?

I read on another board that a lot of people who experienced frequent heartburn before being banded have no heartburn after being banded and those who hardly ever had heatburn before being banded experience frequent heartburn after being banded. This was also reported with burping.

I had a lot of heartburn before being baded and now I have none.

I healed quickly, but had bad gas & heartburn which is something I'd never experienced prior.

It completely disappeared after about 6 months.

Shoulder pain was really bad for me, too ... there were some nights I'd have to take a muscle relaxant to calm it down.

But again, it completely disappeared after 6 months.

Now, I'm just dealing with constant burping.

Something I don't even realize I do anymore (my sister told me I was gross 2 days ago ..lol)

I completely agree with Lindsay! Healed quickly but had heartburn, gas, and shoulder pain. Now only gas.

I had my surgery 01/15 and haven't had a fill yet. I don't have any restriction whatsoever but have no problem keeping to my 1200 calories daily so I feel fine. Wondering what I'll feel like after my 1st fill though...
