Living with very little fill

Recommended Posts

Just checking in since I haven't been posting much lately. I've been living with a very small fill and little restriction since I just kept getting too tight again and again. I've been trying to make really good choices and have to say, being banded all this time has really helped me change my relationship with food. Even though I CAN eat anything right now (and in pretty big portions) I choose not to and just don't care about food like I used to. I'm not perfect all the time, but I'm making the right choices MOST of the time and have even started to lose a little again!

Good luck to all the new faces I see on here.

Hi there glad to see you back! Ugh, that stinks you are going through that i'm sorry. Sounds like you are having great will power though! Keep up the good work! I know for us folks that are that close to goal it's tough, but you are a tough cookie so i'm sure you will do it!

Do you plan on trying to get more fills later? Did they say what the issue is?

Sabrina - good to hear from you! I am so glad you are finding success with eating with little fill/restriction. I am so proud of you, becuase that is an accomplishment for sure! I am currently maintaing my weight, mostly because I have not been stricked with myself. No gain is a win win for me when I am eating whatever I want.

Anyway, I wanted to say congrats on your success and hard work! I have not experienced the unfill/swelling but know I can if I have a stuck epi or what not. Shelby has told us about how stress can get ya too. So it is alway good to learn from others when we can.

Good for you! So you are more of a normal eater than you once were! Success anyway you look at it!

As you can see I never post—but I am always on reading and finding things that are happing to me and getting great advice/ comments, it makes you feel that I am not alone out here when weird stuff happens. I have no restriction and have not for over a month. I had my band slam shut (a year with the same fill amount) and then got the acid reflux horrible, then had an unfill- then filled again—to tight and acid reflux—and a complete unfill. I guess right now I am too afraid to get another fill. I can't afford to miss work again and the cost. Knowing that it has happened to others helps. I still don’t know why the band slammed shut. Guess it has a mind of its own. I am still losing weight—sheer will power and the Atkins diet. Hope this thing in side of me starts behaving it self—or maybe I should (I don’t always fallow the rule) Guess when I finally get a fill I will have to be super super careful.

Thanks to all who post here, it is soo great reading and laughing with you! Keep up the posting! I will try to do the same

I'M FINDING THAT SINCE I'VE HAD GOOD EATING HABITS WITH A FILL FOR SO LONG, IT'S COMING PRETTY NATURALLY WITHOUT A FILL. IT'S ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT PORTIONS WITH ME BUT SO FAR SO GOOD

Congrats to you, Sabrina!

I've had one fill so far and although I've been told it was an aggressive (high) fill amount- 6 CC's, I still don't feel restriction. Thank goodness I have learned to eat healthfully and actually think back to some of the foods I've gorged on in the past and it makes me sick. I am starting to really view food differently and I think that really helps.

Anyhow, I was looking at your stats and even at your highest fill amount you were never up to 6 CC's... and that makes me wonder what's wrong with me?? Why do you have less fill and get stuck and I have more fill and feel nothing?? I know the band/fills/and restriction vary but shouldn't there be some sort of consistency?

Can anyone help me understand that?

Sabrina,

Good for you! You are at the stage where I someday aspire to be. The old adage "It's easy to loose the weight but the hard part is keeping it off" I think applies here in terms of thinking about the importance of maintenence and the role the band plays. Your doing fabulous on your own BTW!

Sabrina,

I have been thinking about your post this morning and came to the realization that getting the band is NOT about loosing weight for ME. Let's face it, I have been doing WW this whole time and I am loosing a pound a week. Could I have done this without the band? Absolutely! Would I gain the weight back or successfully maintain the loss like you have? Who am I kidding?!?! I got the band to successfully maintain my loss! I have been so focused on loosing the weight that I lost sight of the ultimate goal, which is to be where you are at right now and feeling the sense of strength, will power, determination, & victory that you are feeling.

Sabrina.. If it makes you feel any better.. I used will power for one full year before I got a fill (which I highly don't suggest)! Keep up the good work girl! That's awesome you have made a decision for a life change!

WOW!! I'm inspired by your 104 lb loss!! Post some pictures, lady! I'm fiddling around here in the upper 160's, have about 25 lbs more to go. My 30th class reunion is coming up and I need to get busy and finish this thang!!

Hey girl, glad to see you back on here. Sounds like you are doing great, even through all the fills/unfills.

Your right, food just doesn't look the same. WoW, what a great place to be. A win in my book.

I have only one fill with no restriction, but am still losing. I love knowing that the band has given me a new outlook on not only life but the one thing that seem to control me....food! Thanks for posting! Keep up the good work!

Sabrina - I am pretty much exactly where you are. I have 1.6 in my band, and although I have a little restriction, it isnt a lot, but I feel much better. Being too tight was horrible. I do have to watch as once in awhile (especially now being pregnant) I could really overdue it. But the band helps me maintain :) Even with this little fill - the band was one of the best things I have ever done :) You are doing great!!!
