ripcityrenegade
Well everything is paid. I start pre-op diet on Friday. Surgery on Monday the 19th. I sure hope I can do this. I need to lose 17lbs before surgery. Dr. Miranda said I could eat up to 4lbs of leafy vegetables a day. I almost mooed when she said that lol. Does anyone know if you can eat baby carrots or celery? ripcityrenegade
I guess I should have said I am also on Diet #2. I will be using Muscle milk lite as a protein shake. The leafy vegetables are for in between. I was just wondering about the baby carrots and celery because I like them. Any suggestions on tasty lean cuisine meals ? Thank you all for your support. It's kinda weird being one of very few guys on here. Doolittle is a great help. Thanks again all.

Yes to the celery, no to the carrots. At least when I was banded it was anything green was a go. Also no calorie of FF dressings.
macleay
I was told the same thing as Angie was--green veggies only. I had Lean Cuisines at night and actually, the pre-op wasn't as bad as a thought--maybe because I was so excited to get the surgery, plus I was losing weight. You can do this! Does anyone know if you can eat baby carrots or celery? celery is fine. Carrots, no go. Stick with very very low carb veggies: onions, celery, cucumbers, lettuce, broccoli & cauliflower, green/red/yellow peppers, asparagus, brussel sprouts. I think that's about it! But it's a good list
janellody
You may think this pre-op diet sucks but you will be wishing for the pre-op diet when you are on the post-op diet lol! Listen, you just gotta tell yourself that the next few weeks are gonna suck, and that's that. You HAVE to do these diets, so you don't really have any choice in the matter, so that should help. I just had to tell myself that I was going to be miserable for awhile, and I was, but eventually it ends and you will be thanking your lucky stars that you get real food again! Well said. The post-op diet is tons worse than the pre-op in my opinion as well. Here's what helped me: In the pre-op diet, I KNEW I had to stick to it or I wouldn't get my surgery and I was committed to having the surgery. Post-op: I KNEW I had to stick to it because of what Dr. Ortiz said, which was something like: "you may be able to cheat on your food and you may not notice it now, but in six months when your band slips, that's when you notice it." It's really important to let the band heal in place and you don't want your stomach churning around trying to digest food. (You can tell I'm not a doctor, huh? ) Don't worry, you can do both the pre-op and the post-op. If I can, anyone can. But you have to keep talking to yourself about why you're doing it and take it a day at a time.
