Anyone with lower bmi have this done?

I wondered if anyone has had this done with a bmi lower than 35 and how it went? I have about 60 pounds to lose and i really want to try this but i am scared. I read somewhere you cannot drink coffee for 3 months after the surgery is this true? I am addicted to coffee lol..Also do you have to pay every time you get the fills and go back to mexico? Or can you have it done somewhere near where you live and how much does this cost?

I have about 60 to lose and was banded in Nov. 2009 my bmi was 37. I was not told that I would have to give up coffee. But I only drink 1 to 2 cups a day. Each person is different so I think you need to contact OCC and speak to them first. Yes, you pay for fills each time you go to OCC. I have heard of others having fills elsewhere but that would be up to you. I will always go back to OCC. I want to make sure that its done right since OCC uses a X-ray fluoroscope. It is your choice .....

No, you can drink coffee. No diet coke for six months that is not flat. That is what's killing me! I had a BMI of 31.5 and just had it done. The cut off is usually a BMI of 30.

I was lower BMI - ha, I cant remember what it was...youll see my stats below though. I am VERY happy I got it done. I cant say anything for coffee as I dont drink it!

As for fills, I prefer going back to the OCC. I went here a few times, didnt like it as much though it is free here for me but travel back to the OCC and the fill is usually about $1000 ( I am in Canada). Just ensure you arrange your aftercare before you have surgery. Read around the board more - youll find more answers to this already

I am glad to hear you are a coffee addict as this will help you loose sooo much weight during the liquid phase. Coffee is okay to drink and you will be your BFF for 3 weeks.

I had a starting BMI of 33. You have to pay 100.00 for the fills at OCC. The going cash rate in Los Angeles for fills is 350.00 w/o fluoroscopy. I choose to take the train from Los Angeles to OCC for my fills and save about $175.00 per fill.
