jhawkchick75
So I learned a VERY important lesson today and wanted to share. I know it's not good to do, but I am on my scale every day and i've been getting frustrated lately because the scale never moves. Hasn't in months. It's funny because people keep saying i'm losing weight but I just chock it up to them being nice. Anyhoo, we were out the other night and my cousin was getting on to me saying that my pants don't fit and that I need new ones but since the scale hasn't moved I figured there was no way I was needing a smaller size. She is losing weight and is smaller than me so she brought me her old jeans which are a size 6 and told me I should try them on. They just sat there for a while because I thought she was nuts but I just put them on and they FIT!!! I can't believe i'm in a size 6 i'm not sure I ever have been. It's a really great feeling and makes me not stress so much about the number on the scale. This is a great lesson for us all. Don't stress so much about that # on the scale and enjoy those non scale victories! I will still get on the scale, but i'm going to use how my clothes fit more as a guide. I'm just gonna keep on keepin on and try to make good decisions each day and work out as much as I can. Hope you all are having a great day!! MyNewLife
Shelby that is AWESOME girl!!! Thanks for sharing, I REALLY needed to read this today! I STILL am not out of the freakin 180's ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....HOWEVER I have hired a Personal trainer that kicked my butt tuesday. ALL I did was work out with the ball and HATED it!!!Dont get me wrong it was HARD, but just was not my thing. I went for my second session this monring and my trainer had a flat was not there so they put me with another guy. He does the kick boxing trainer and OMG is was torture but I REALLY liked the work out. ALOT of punching and kicking....So I have changed trainers and have him booked Monday Wednesday and Friday next week....kinda excited about it! Ready to get this off and really excited to have someone PUSH me! Again Congrats girl! Carrie

jhawkchick75
Thanks everyone! It was funny the other day my grandma asked me how much I weigh and when I told her she said there is no way you weigh that much! Guess also depending on muscle mass and things like that the # on the scale can be very deceiving. I need a few new work outfits so i'm headed to the mall to get a couple of things. It is really nice to have options now and not see shopping as a miserable experience. I used to get frustrated and just buy shoes and accessories - but I had quite a shoe collection! Shelby, That is amazing. I will never see a size 6. When I weighed 143, I was in a size 10. You are doing fantastic. The way I see it, to maintain instead of gain is an accomplishment. I got discouraged but I never gave up. I tried everything I could think of to break out of plateau, but nothing worked. I bought a pair of Skecher's Shape up shoes. They were so comfortable that they motivated me to walk more often. They don't seem to have done much for my backside, but my legs are now super-toned. But, I still wasn't losing. I cut my calories down to around 800 per day. It was tough, but I was desperate. I am not really recommending it, but that is all that worked for me. The scales started moving again. It is still really slow, like only 1/2 lb. per week or so. I am trying to stay around 1000 calories per day now, but some days I still only do 800. Hope the personal trainer works out for you. It's interesting you say that because my fill dr told me that the weight/size on the way up would not be the same on the way down because you have denser bones and more muscle mass to carry around the larger load. She said she was a size 18 at 180 on the way up but a 14 on the way down. She was also banded in Mexico. I'd be interested to hear from others if they have found this to be true. Kristi
Shelby, CONGRATS CONGRATS CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This news has cheered me up today. I have told you before and I will tell you again, you are and you look fabulous! You are right about the #'s on the scale. They don't always reflect what is really going on with our bodies. I have seen inches melt away and the #'s on the scale stay the same. I have also lost 2 pounds and dropped a whole dress size. Never really could understand that, because in the past it took 10-15 pounds to drop a dress size. It is an amazing process. Hugs, Kristi
EcMjawad1
Hi all, Thanks for all the post's. I am so glad to be reading about the whole scale thing. It is amazing how we expect a mechanical machine to dictate our lives and happiness...I have already found that the scale may say one thing but the cloths I can put on say a completely different thing...So I'm with trying to focus on "me" and not any outside measure to tell me how I am doing. Mental that's were I need to work. To follow a new life I will need new skills and I won't be learning that from a scale, but I will from people like yourselves, exercising, and listening to my inner thoughts/feeling's and learning ways to deal with stuff without food - this hand's down will be the hardest aspect of my journey..thanks for your posts and keep 'em coming. You know now that you say that it could be the case! I know at my lowest in my adult life (prior to this) I was doing WW and I got down to 145 and I know I was NOT a size 6 and I mayyyybe was an 8 but I highly doubt it i'm pretty sure I was a 10 I would remember single digits. So that totally makes sense. I have a goal weight set for myself but I am starting to reconsider it. I might change it by about 5lbs and then I have some excess skin that would need to come off if i'm gonna hit that weight. But i'd like to work out hard core to see how much I can get off before resorting to PS.

Good luck and congrats on what you've already accomplished!
Elizabeth36
WOOO HOO! YOU ALL HAVE MADE MY DAY OR SHOULD I SAY NIGHT..LOL! ANYWAY, I WAS BANDED 4/15 AND DURING THE LIQUID PHASE I LOST ABOUT 13 LBS. SINCE I HAVE BEEN ON SOLIDS I HAVEN'T REALLY LOST.. WELL MAYBE A POUND OR 2. I HAVEN'T BEEN EATING LIKE I WAS, BUT I DON'T HAVE VERY MUCH RESTRICTION. I HAD DECIDED I WAS NOT GOING TO WOORY ABOUT IT AND PREVENT MYSELF FROM GAINING BEFORE MY FIRST FILL 6/12.IT'S FUNNY..EVERYDAY SOMEONE IS ASKING ME HOW MUCH HAVE I LOST...IVE BEEN EMBARRESSED TO SAY "NONE" OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, SO I JUST SAY I DON'T KNOW. THEY SAY THAT THEY CAN TELL I HAVE LOST MORE. I DO NOTICE A DIFFERENCE IN MY CLOTHES. I THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY, BUT YOU ALL HAVE LET ME KNOW THAT MAYBE I AM SHRINKING WITHOUT SEEING ANY DIFFERENCE IN THE SCALES! I STILL CANT EXERCISE MUCH DUE TO MY FOOT, BUT I HAVE BEEN WORKING OUTSIDE AND HAVE FOUND MY ENERGY LEVEL TO BE OVERBOARD!
